Transcript
CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, I just had to run to the comments to cleanse myself.

CHELSEY DONN:

I needed to be baptized from this experience.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, I'm dirty.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, no.

CHELSEY DONN:

Hello,

VOICEOVER:

Every Californian and Virginian, It's so hard to tell who to trust and who to ignore, Someone's gotta settle the score., Trey and Chelsey will help you choose, Whose views win which ones lose, Online haters are coming for you, Baby, it's time to Review That Review!,

TREY GERRALD:

Hi, Chelsey, and hello, listeners.

TREY GERRALD:

Welcome, once again, to Review That Review.

TREY GERRALD:

We are the podcast that is dedicated to reviewing.

CHELSEY DONN:

Reviews!

TREY GERRALD:

That is Chelsey

CHELSEY DONN:

that is Trey Gerrald.

TREY GERRALD:

But just go ahead and call us.

VOICEOVER:

The Review Queens,

TREY GERRALD:

Chelsey, I gotta know, what's going on in your world here at the very end of July?

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my goodness.

VOICEOVER:

Lager complaint,

TREY GERRALD:

About

CHELSEY DONN:

Yes, Trey.

CHELSEY DONN:

Well, I've been holding this in last week.

CHELSEY DONN:

We did a one in five for Hamburger Mary's, right?

TREY GERRALD:

Hopefully.

TREY GERRALD:

Oh,

CHELSEY DONN:

So last week we did a one in five at Hamburger Mary's and when Trey was in town.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think we mentioned it.

CHELSEY DONN:

We went to Hamburger Mary's together and I had like a live complaint happen, but I said to you, I'm going to save it.

CHELSEY DONN:

I have to save it for the show.

CHELSEY DONN:

Right?

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I went to go to the bathroom.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

There was a whole like line of two girls waiting.

CHELSEY DONN:

One girl that was in the front of the line decided, I can't wait anymore.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm just going to leave.

CHELSEY DONN:

Then the other girl standing there, I'm standing behind her.

CHELSEY DONN:

We're waiting, we're waiting, we're waiting, we're waiting, we're waiting, we're waiting, I finally say like, did you knock on the door?

CHELSEY DONN:

Is there somebody in there?

CHELSEY DONN:

Like what's going on?

CHELSEY DONN:

She knocks, she knocks on the door, she jiggles the handle.

CHELSEY DONN:

The bathroom is fucking open.

CHELSEY DONN:

The bathroom next to it was ALSO OPEN!

CHELSEY DONN:

So, two schmucks, and then, you know, myself for a little bit, are waiting on this line, creating this bathroom line, when there is NO REASON!

CHELSEY DONN:

Listen to me.

CHELSEY DONN:

If you are at the front of the bathroom line, it is your responsibility to make sure that there is a reason to wait on the line.

CHELSEY DONN:

The fact that we're waiting in line and we could be moving this along?

CHELSEY DONN:

What the hell?

CHELSEY DONN:

Get it together.

TREY GERRALD:

okay, so this touches me deeply

CHELSEY DONN:

good,

TREY GERRALD:

Especially when the bathroom is like individual doors, so you can't see the stall, knocking makes me a little uncomfortable.

CHELSEY DONN:

sure,

TREY GERRALD:

But boy, oh boy, have I been in the circumstance and this happens at Broadway shows a lot because you're just lining up So you're just going on the blind faith

CHELSEY DONN:

yes,

TREY GERRALD:

people before you have like been reasonable and this may not happen for women But when men are lining up, sometimes you'll be in the long queue, the long line But some people are waiting for the stalls because they got to go number

CHELSEY DONN:

sure,

TREY GERRALD:

So then there's a divide and conquer, and then sometimes, like, people don't have to go number two, so then there's just, like, toilets that are open, but everyone doesn't know because they're waiting on the urinals, and it just becomes so frustrating, and you feel like, I gotta get out of here, and then you find out you've just been waiting for no

CHELSEY DONN:

for no effing

CHELSEY DONN:

reason,

TREY GERRALD:

Zero to one hundred.

CHELSEY DONN:

ugh, it's so annoying.

TREY GERRALD:

I feel that.

TREY GERRALD:

I'm sorry that you experienced that, and I'm sorry you had to sit on that

CHELSEY DONN:

Ugh,

CHELSEY DONN:

well you had the complaint during the 1 in 5, so I wanted to talk about it during Hamburger Mary's, but I knew I could talk about it today,

CHELSEY DONN:

and I also want to know, Trey, should we jump into an online review?

TREY GERRALD:

I think we should jump jump cuz

CHELSEY DONN:

For you, love!

TREY GERRALD:

Episode

CHELSEY DONN:

Yay!

CHELSEY DONN:

I know, I know,

TREY GERRALD:

we're gonna get into

CHELSEY DONN:

I know, we're good into it.

TREY GERRALD:

do it.

VOICEOVER:

Review That Review,

CHELSEY DONN:

As your trusty review queens, we bring in reviews, from the internet, that we feel need to be inspected.

TREY GERRALD:

We read you a review.

TREY GERRALD:

We break it down together We rate the impact of that review on a scale from zero to five crowns.

TREY GERRALD:

It's a very regal process that we call

VOICEOVER:

Kvetch,

CHELSEY DONN:

That's right, and Trey, special delivery alert, special delivery alert, I've been sitting on this delivery for a minute because the way that time works out, I'm dying to know what's in this, this package that's been sitting in the hallway, all I'll say is that it is packaged a little differently for me than you, but similar,

TREY GERRALD:

we got to talk about it.

TREY GERRALD:

So in live time, Chelsey and I are gonna open the packages She still has no idea

CHELSEY DONN:

I have no idea what this is,

TREY GERRALD:

Do you want to describe the differences?

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, so Trey's is wrapped in like the paper kind of envelope and then in a box that's like, I mean mine is heavy, so I'm assuming yours is heavy.

CHELSEY DONN:

Mine has like the plastic outerlay, but then there's still a box.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like at first, honestly, it feels almost like a shoe box.

CHELSEY DONN:

I was like, you sent me shoes?

CHELSEY DONN:

That'd be weird, you sent me shoes, even though my shoe size.

CHELSEY DONN:

But it feels like heavier

TREY GERRALD:

Mm hmm.

CHELSEY DONN:

than shoes.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like it feels like, like a figurine or like a sculpture or something.

CHELSEY DONN:

It feels hefty.

TREY GERRALD:

Well, give it a little shake.

TREY GERRALD:

Do you have any inclinations?

CHELSEY DONN:

I feel like mine, it's heavy.

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, I'm thinking like a figurine, like, like a Statue of Liberty or

CHELSEY DONN:

that would have been, or I don't know something.

CHELSEY DONN:

It feels like it might be like that styrofoamed in there.

CHELSEY DONN:

Cause I don't think mine's really moving very much.

TREY GERRALD:

All right, well, let's open them.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my god,

TREY GERRALD:

outer package.

CHELSEY DONN:

okay, I'm so excited.

CHELSEY DONN:

This is like Christmas in July, almost August, oh my goodness,

TREY GERRALD:

It looks like this might be similar.

TREY GERRALD:

Is there anything telling you what is in your box?

CHELSEY DONN:

okay, oh, I think we have the same box,

CHELSEY DONN:

So

CHELSEY DONN:

it has a patented, oh wait, there's, oh my god, there is something on the outside, it tells me what it is, Trey!

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, mine doesn't say.

CHELSEY DONN:

Look at the sticker at the, at the top of the sticker.

TREY GERRALD:

I have another sticker on top of a sticker, and my sticker just says, it's a barcode, it says LPNPMPZ48789751, but I can't see what the sticker underneath it says.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, I can, but I'm so excited about this.

TREY GERRALD:

Well, what is it, girl?

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my goodness.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my god, Trey, you look so good.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, this is, you guys, I'm like kind of freaking out.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my god, Trey's in full drag.

CHELSEY DONN:

It is a shake weight.

CHELSEY DONN:

I always wanted a shake weight.

CHELSEY DONN:

Trey, you look so good.

CHELSEY DONN:

Trey's like in full

CHELSEY DONN:

workout regalia, like he's giving me Jan's sport vibes.

CHELSEY DONN:

A little bit.

CHELSEY DONN:

I love it.

CHELSEY DONN:

You have a headband, you have wristbands.

CHELSEY DONN:

It's like neon.

CHELSEY DONN:

I want that whole outfit.

CHELSEY DONN:

Trey, you look so good, Gesundheit.

CHELSEY DONN:

You look great.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my goodness.

CHELSEY DONN:

Let's get physical.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my god, I have a Shady Queen.

CHELSEY DONN:

This is amazing.

TREY GERRALD:

Wait, you already have a shake weight?

CHELSEY DONN:

No, I've never had one.

CHELSEY DONN:

I've always wanted one.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm saying like I now own a shake weight.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like this is very exciting and this is coming at a perfect time, Trey, because I'm like trying to work out more and like be more physical.

CHELSEY DONN:

I can't even tell you how excited I am about this.

CHELSEY DONN:

This is like, wow, what a treat.

CHELSEY DONN:

Trey, you look so good.

TREY GERRALD:

so from the inception of this podcast, I have wanted to do the shake weight.

TREY GERRALD:

Now,

CHELSEY DONN:

am so excited.

TREY GERRALD:

at the beginning of this process, I couldn't find shake weights, and I also found an article saying that they caused more damage than

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh,

TREY GERRALD:

and so you weren't able to purchase the official shake weights anymore.

TREY GERRALD:

But I did spend 40 for each of us

CHELSEY DONN:

thank you.

CHELSEY DONN:

This is so nice.

TREY GERRALD:

shake weights.

CHELSEY DONN:

Wow.

CHELSEY DONN:

And why are they not safe?

TREY GERRALD:

Well, maybe we'll delve into

CHELSEY DONN:

Huh?

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, no.

CHELSEY DONN:

Now I'm nervous.

CHELSEY DONN:

How do you lay this down?

TREY GERRALD:

So, okay, so yeah, so we are going to do a live review on the aftershow today, so that will be coming.

TREY GERRALD:

But on the main show, now that Chelsey is informed, we're going to be covering a two star walmart.

TREY GERRALD:

com review

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay,

TREY GERRALD:

the ShakeWeight.

TREY GERRALD:

Have you ever used a ShakeWeight in your life?

TREY GERRALD:

Have you ever held one?

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, this is my first time ever holding a shake weight.

TREY GERRALD:

me too.

CHELSEY DONN:

I do remember the infomercials.

TREY GERRALD:

Well, yeah, they were very, very popular.

CHELSEY DONN:

It was all the rage.

CHELSEY DONN:

I always wanted one.

CHELSEY DONN:

I just never got one.

TREY GERRALD:

So today's two star Walmart review was written by a customer named Doris G.

TREY GERRALD:

This might be our first Doris.

CHELSEY DONN:

That was my grandmother's name, Doris.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

TREY GERRALD:

Doris on Walmart has a subject.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

TREY GERRALD:

subject is, sorely mistaken and utterly dismayed.

CHELSEY DONN:

Hmm.

TREY GERRALD:

Two star.

CHELSEY DONN:

Utterly dismayed.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yes.

TREY GERRALD:

Strap in.

TREY GERRALD:

Here we go.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

TREY GERRALD:

This was written May 2nd of 2014.

TREY GERRALD:

Sorely mistaken, utterly dismayed.

TREY GERRALD:

Here we are.

TREY GERRALD:

In a culture that often idolizes physical perfection.

CHELSEY DONN:

Hmm.

CHELSEY DONN:

Hmm.

TREY GERRALD:

call to prioritize humility, selflessness, and service to others over personal gain or acclaim.

TREY GERRALD:

As a Christ follower myself, I question whether

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my god.

CHELSEY DONN:

Pfft.

CHELSEY DONN:

Hmm.

CHELSEY DONN:

Hmm.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my god.

CHELSEY DONN:

Hmm.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my god.

CHELSEY DONN:

Hmm.

CHELSEY DONN:

Pfft.

CHELSEY DONN:

Hmm.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my god.

CHELSEY DONN:

Hmm.

CHELSEY DONN:

Hmm.

TREY GERRALD:

this product's suggestive design and suggestive gyrating movements of rapid back and forth motion Made me feel deeply uncomfortable and tremendously sad.

TREY GERRALD:

And to be forced to watch myself doing it in a mirror,

TREY GERRALD:

dot, dot, dot.

TREY GERRALD:

A second offense.

TREY GERRALD:

As such, being a devout person of faith, this tool goes against my religious values.

TREY GERRALD:

To engage in activities that promote such overtly sexualized imagery.

TREY GERRALD:

Parentheses, I should have known better, but I trusted Lisa Robertson on QVC, as she is also a Christian.

TREY GERRALD:

Dot dot, but I suppose money really is evil.

TREY GERRALD:

Period.

TREY GERRALD:

In parentheses.

TREY GERRALD:

All caps.

TREY GERRALD:

If I have not been clear enough, me spell it out.

TREY GERRALD:

Using the shake weight left me feeling conflicted, disappointed, regretful, And to be honest,

TREY GERRALD:

I would caution fellow believers to steer clear of this product.

TREY GERRALD:

I could not in good conscience recommend this product to anyone who values their spiritual integrity.

TREY GERRALD:

stick with a can of peas.

TREY GERRALD:

It's cheaper, less demonic, and something my pastor blesses all the time for food drives.

TREY GERRALD:

As our Lord Almighty gives us grace.

TREY GERRALD:

So will I, two stars, May you see your errors, Repent and join the kingdom soon,

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my god,

TREY GERRALD:

Finally, dot dot dot, to you reading this right now, Where will you stand when the flood comes?,

CHELSEY DONN:

oh no, oh

TREY GERRALD:

Glory to

CHELSEY DONN:

god,

TREY GERRALD:

on the highest, 3, 16,

CHELSEY DONN:

oh my god, Um, is him capital H?

TREY GERRALD:

You know it,

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, well you know what the good news is, Trey?

CHELSEY DONN:

In the eyes of this woman, we're both going to hell.

CHELSEY DONN:

So,

TREY GERRALD:

wait,

CHELSEY DONN:

I'll see you there with the shake weight.

TREY GERRALD:

Well, I did buy it for you, So, sadly, I'm punishing you to death,

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, first of all, I'm getting a decent workout.

TREY GERRALD:

we're doing a live

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, you're right, you're right, you're right, you're right.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, I won't give it away for free.

TREY GERRALD:

of all, do you know what John 3, 16 is?

TREY GERRALD:

Subs

CHELSEY DONN:

No,

TREY GERRALD:

you know what that means?

TREY GERRALD:

It's a biblical verse.

CHELSEY DONN:

no, I know that it means that it's a biblical verse.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't know what John 3, 16, like, are you saying like, do I know what somebody means when they say John 3, 16?

TREY GERRALD:

Like, do you know the quote?

CHELSEY DONN:

No, I don't know the quote.

TREY GERRALD:

I believe it's for he's so loved.

TREY GERRALD:

The world he gave his one and only begotten son or something.

TREY GERRALD:

Let me see.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, probably.

TREY GERRALD:

John 3 16.

TREY GERRALD:

I know listeners are screaming.

TREY GERRALD:

Um, yeah, it's, um, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son.

TREY GERRALD:

I was right

CHELSEY DONN:

Good job, Trey.

TREY GERRALD:

who believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, I have so many thoughts, obviously, I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to frame this.

TREY GERRALD:

Wait, do you think Doris is a Christian?

TREY GERRALD:

I wasn't sure from this.

CHELSEY DONN:

Well, my grandmother was Jewish, so I had a whole different, like, vision in my head, but yes, I would imagine that Doris is Christian.

CHELSEY DONN:

They mentioned it a few times.

TREY GERRALD:

How do you know if someone's vegan?

TREY GERRALD:

They're going to tell

CHELSEY DONN:

And they're gonna tell ya, I mean, why are we pushing this agenda on?

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, then I'm like, it's Walmart, So maybe there's like people that are of the same mind as Doris not to like stereotype Walmart, But I do feel like there's a lot of God fearing folk in the Walmart populace, but like this is just so inappropriate and like, really Doris?

CHELSEY DONN:

What did you think you were buying, is my question.

TREY GERRALD:

Also, another question is, did they buy it on QVC or did they buy it on Walmart?

CHELSEY DONN:

If they bought it, if they saw it, either way, they saw it on QVC, and they saw, and it didn't occur to them when they were watching it on QVC, what it would look like.

CHELSEY DONN:

Also, who's forcing you to look at yourself in the mirror, and who's forcing you to look at yourself in the mirror.

TREY GERRALD:

This is the best part of the review.

TREY GERRALD:

To make

CHELSEY DONN:

I

TREY GERRALD:

this in the mirror.

TREY GERRALD:

How

CHELSEY DONN:

mean, who tied you up and put you in front of a mirror and was, and was like, watch yourself while you do, I don't know.

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, maybe they say watch yourself because it could get dangerous if you like weren't looking.

CHELSEY DONN:

There's just so much Bible in here.

CHELSEY DONN:

And I always, a little, and I always hate how they're like, if you're reading this and you haven't been found, please find yourself.

CHELSEY DONN:

And if you're reading this and you haven't, you're going to hell, but I love you anyway.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, just,

TREY GERRALD:

Do you think Doris is compassionate?

CHELSEY DONN:

no,

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't think so.

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, this is, Again, I'm like deciding how deep I want to get into this conversation on the main show, but like, Trey can't stop looking at himself.

CHELSEY DONN:

This is the problem when Trey dresses up and he like sees how beautiful he is in drag.

CHELSEY DONN:

He's just like, I cannot stop looking at this sexy woman with this cur like,

TREY GERRALD:

Well, I picked this wig because I know it's going to

CHELSEY DONN:

This blonde fro, it's amazing.

CHELSEY DONN:

Anyway, now I'm distracted by your beauty.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

So this is the point, like you're so indignant about your own belief that you're so judgmental of everything.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, I don't understand that as a religious principle.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like I would think.

CHELSEY DONN:

If I believed in Jesus, which I'm a Jew, so I don't, I, I believe that Jesus exists.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't believe that he was the Messiah, but whatever.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't need to preach my agenda here.

CHELSEY DONN:

But Jesus was like kind and sacrificed themselves and was nonjudgmental and had all of these beautiful qualities.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's why he became the Messiah.

CHELSEY DONN:

He was performing miracles.

CHELSEY DONN:

He was doing God's work on earth.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, Doris, my dear, is this two star review doing God's work?

TREY GERRALD:

Well, maybe you could argue it is because maybe it's so blasphemous to shake up and down.

CHELSEY DONN:

If I am that strict about even going near anything that could possibly have sexual innuendo, am I buying a shake weight?

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, I guess Doris is speaking for those that didn't catch it

CHELSEY DONN:

I just think Doris is gonna catch a lot more people that don't fall into this camp.

CHELSEY DONN:

Than do in the review section maybe.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't know.

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, it's a really, this is a conundrum of a review because it's not so much a review of the product as it is where we are as a culture.

CHELSEY DONN:

this was 2014,

CHELSEY DONN:

but I don't know if that makes it better or worse.

TREY GERRALD:

How old do you think Doris is?

TREY GERRALD:

The name makes me

CHELSEY DONN:

It seems old.

TREY GERRALD:

Right.

TREY GERRALD:

Also, when was the height of Shake Weight?

TREY GERRALD:

Way before 2014, right?

CHELSEY DONN:

I think we could look it up quickly.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh,

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, I remember infomercials and that was like 2014.

TREY GERRALD:

I was about to get married.

TREY GERRALD:

So like I wasn't watching infomercials at that time.

CHELSEY DONN:

all right.

TREY GERRALD:

like this was an early 2000s idea, like as seen on

CHELSEY DONN:

Yes.

CHELSEY DONN:

The shake weight was invented in 2009,

TREY GERRALD:

Oh,

CHELSEY DONN:

it debuted in 2009.

TREY GERRALD:

okay.

TREY GERRALD:

So it's close,

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

TREY GERRALD:

But you know, this is not my worldview.

TREY GERRALD:

I was raised to believe it was my worldview.

TREY GERRALD:

So I've had a trajectory of letting that go.

TREY GERRALD:

But this first is why I was struck by this because they're talking about the biblical principle of stewardship, which is maintaining a healthy body in order to honor

CHELSEY DONN:

Right,

CHELSEY DONN:

and

CHELSEY DONN:

that's why they, I guess, bought the product?

CHELSEY DONN:

Is that the justification?

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, I was trying

TREY GERRALD:

so,

CHELSEY DONN:

Right,

TREY GERRALD:

they're recognizing in order to like serve God, you must be healthy.

TREY GERRALD:

But then they conflict that with this culture that we're in where Physical perfection is idolized and we shouldn't have false idols if God is the only idol.

CHELSEY DONN:

right.

TREY GERRALD:

an interesting conundrum.

TREY GERRALD:

I can see where you might be, be conflicted,

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

TREY GERRALD:

is, and, and, and wanting to do Shake Weight for years of this podcast, I think people got injured because the repetition I think causes strain on wrists and shoulders and, and, and they're like anything, you're going to have a misuse of a product because you're doing it at home.

TREY GERRALD:

No one's overseeing, so you

CHELSEY DONN:

and I'll see you in the next video.

TREY GERRALD:

the value of the product.

TREY GERRALD:

They even say, I'll just use peas.

TREY GERRALD:

Are you kidding me?

TREY GERRALD:

who has cans

CHELSEY DONN:

First of all, that was so funny to me because I was thinking, okay, I can kind of understand using peas as a weight, I guess, like, okay, I'm gonna do bicep curls with a can of peas,

CHELSEY DONN:

but

TREY GERRALD:

Covid times

CHELSEY DONN:

right, but are you shaking the can of peas?

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, what are you doing?

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, are you just sitting there with a can of peas and shaking it?

CHELSEY DONN:

Because the whole point about the shake weight, what differentiates the shake weight from a regular weight is the fact that it shakes.

CHELSEY DONN:

So it's not a can of peas, right?

TREY GERRALD:

my, in my research, 'cause I, I really went down a tunnel.

TREY GERRALD:

Uh, this is how I ended up on Walmart.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know if we've ever had a Walmart review,

CHELSEY DONN:

We have, we've, yeah,

TREY GERRALD:

okay.

TREY GERRALD:

Well, I got down such a tunnel because I guess there was a version of the Shake Weight that actually had a battery so it would shake

CHELSEY DONN:

it was like a vibe, like, okay,

TREY GERRALD:

But the original conceit, that was like Shake Weight XL Pro or something.

TREY GERRALD:

The original was you create the shaking and you maintain the shake.

CHELSEY DONN:

right, yeah, that's what makes it, it's like a BOSU ball, like, you're, like, not stable on it, so you have to, you know, you engage your core,

TREY GERRALD:

as far as our talking points,

CHELSEY DONN:

mm hmm, yeah.

TREY GERRALD:

unique perspective,

CHELSEY DONN:

I guess.

TREY GERRALD:

if I'm gonna lose weight or if it's just a gimmicky product or like, this is literally just a testimonial of their love of Christ.

CHELSEY DONN:

Well, that's what I was going to say is like, I think in order for me to talk about this, I need to think about it as if anyone got on a forum to talk about a product and instead of talking about the product, started giving a dissertation about cheese or started giving a dissertation about roller coasters while they're talking about the shake weight, I would be like, Why do we care about the roller coaster?

CHELSEY DONN:

That this is not about that.

CHELSEY DONN:

This is about a shake weight.

CHELSEY DONN:

So you come to a forum that is looking for reviews about a product and you've done nothing but judge the person who's buying the product.

TREY GERRALD:

Yeah, that is interesting.

TREY GERRALD:

It's like a, it's an interesting assumption that because your view of Jesus This is a certain way that my view of Jesus

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

TREY GERRALD:

which is like, when we start getting into religion, it can get, because it's all interpretable, it's

CHELSEY DONN:

like,

TREY GERRALD:

the pastor you go to

CHELSEY DONN:

You chose, like, you chose to buy the product, you chose to use the product, you saw it in an infomercial, You didn't like it, it made you feel dirty, Return it.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, I don't know that, like, what, like, what are you saying here?

CHELSEY DONN:

All you're saying is you're giving this a two star review because this product doesn't deserve to exist because it's ungodly?

TREY GERRALD:

Well, I think that's right.

TREY GERRALD:

And so is that valuable?

TREY GERRALD:

Cause if I believe the same as Doris, is this giving me value?

CHELSEY DONN:

Maybe I'm, I don't know.

CHELSEY DONN:

Maybe I'm underestimating the amount of Dorises there are in the world, but, and obviously we grew up in different, you know, Religions and also like, you know, um, geographically different areas, right?

CHELSEY DONN:

So I don't know, like, maybe there are a lot of Walmart customers that are going to feel this way, but I don't think that they need to go to the review section of this product to be past ritized, past ritized?

CHELSEY DONN:

Is that the word?

TREY GERRALD:

know.

CHELSEY DONN:

Whatever.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, like, I don't, I don't think, I don't think they need to be preached to in this forum, Doris,

CHELSEY DONN:

personally.

TREY GERRALD:

It's a shocking stance.

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, I think that the joke and why Shake Weight became such a cultural touchstone is because it looks like you're jerking off a

CHELSEY DONN:

Right.

CHELSEY DONN:

Exactly.

TREY GERRALD:

But do you think that, like, a lot of Christians were offended by this?

TREY GERRALD:

Like, I

CHELSEY DONN:

Maybe, I think definitely, I like remember when it came out, and I'm sure there was like an SNL skit about it, and it was like a thing, yeah, so I don't know,

CHELSEY DONN:

but again, I think

TREY GERRALD:

Do you think this is a typical response?

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't, okay, I think that this might be a typical response of people watching an infomercial about the product being like, it looks like you're jerking someone off, like, yeah, clearly.

CHELSEY DONN:

But do I think this is a common response of someone that has bought the product?

CHELSEY DONN:

And also, like, on the product page itself, even beyond the infomercial, does it have, like, a little video of somebody Doing it.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

So, you know what you're buying.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I don't think that it's so common on this product page for people to go on this and be like, Oh, I just had to run to the comments to cleanse myself.

CHELSEY DONN:

I needed to be baptized from this experience.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, I'm dirty.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like no, I don't think that's gonna be common.

TREY GERRALD:

lifewaybible.

TREY GERRALD:

com, like, if this was a Christian company that was selling it,

CHELSEY DONN:

Right?

CHELSEY DONN:

Sure.

TREY GERRALD:

that would be appropriate,

CHELSEY DONN:

Right, maybe.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know.

TREY GERRALD:

I just, I wonder, I mean, I get, if we take Doris at her word

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

TREY GERRALD:

really struck them that way, and they did try the product and then they caught themselves in the mirror and were like, wait, I have been tricked.

TREY GERRALD:

I've been usurped by the devil.

TREY GERRALD:

Then sure.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know that this is typical.

CHELSEY DONN:

All right.

CHELSEY DONN:

I want to talk about the value.

CHELSEY DONN:

Show me the value.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'll wait.

CHELSEY DONN:

Show

TREY GERRALD:

I don't like that they call Lisa Robertson, who I don't even know who that is, evil from money because they're selling, I mean, it's literally her job,

CHELSEY DONN:

me the value.

CHELSEY DONN:

What do I learn about the shake weight from this review?

TREY GERRALD:

Well, we learned that it possibly, if you're very devout, as they repeat over and over, one doth protest too much, perhaps, that it made them feel duped into demonic actions.

CHELSEY DONN:

Is that new unique information that I wouldn't learn based on just like the video

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't think

CHELSEY DONN:

if I felt a certain kind of way?

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, because they reference at least seeing it on QVC.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know if they bought it on QVC but left the review on Walmart.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know.

TREY GERRALD:

But anything on QVC, you're going to watch the product being

CHELSEY DONN:

correct,

TREY GERRALD:

you didn't catch it there,

CHELSEY DONN:

right, that

CHELSEY DONN:

like if you didn't catch it on QVC and then you're like I'll buy it on Walmart And then the product page has a video.

CHELSEY DONN:

There's just like so many fail safes along the way, like even if this review had been I'm so disgusted by this.

CHELSEY DONN:

I would never buy this product.

CHELSEY DONN:

It is abhorrent Maybe then I would like understand a little bit, but you bought the product you knew what it was

TREY GERRALD:

Right.

CHELSEY DONN:

Why did you need to bring it home and look at yourself doing it in the mirror to decide that it was dirty?

CHELSEY DONN:

It's pretty friggin obvious.

CHELSEY DONN:

No matter where you're looking at it from.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I don't

TREY GERRALD:

Doris was like mouth agape as they were doing it and they just like caught a glimpse and

CHELSEY DONN:

like it was like,

TREY GERRALD:

a bead of sweat fell into their

CHELSEY DONN:

oh my god, I'm dying.

CHELSEY DONN:

It's like, like, oh my god, this looks just like me and whatever their husband's name is.

TREY GERRALD:

Jeffrey, I don't think, I don't think Jeffrey and Doris were having a lot of sex.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't think

TREY GERRALD:

only to procreate.

CHELSEY DONN:

You're right.

CHELSEY DONN:

I haven't

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah,

TREY GERRALD:

shady?

TREY GERRALD:

Is it truthful?

CHELSEY DONN:

I think it's shady because I think like it's just that general like like we always say with these sort of sort of more Southern theme reviews like bless your heart You're gonna go to hell, but if I had a choice, I would pray for you.

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, we can talk about this on the aftershow as we do a live review, but like,

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

TREY GERRALD:

for me because of personal

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, of course

TREY GERRALD:

but it is like, it is, it just doesn't seem very loving

CHELSEY DONN:

seems kind of yes,

TREY GERRALD:

going to the Kingdom of Heaven, I'm praying that you will,

CHELSEY DONN:

Right.

TREY GERRALD:

that you're better than me, or something,

CHELSEY DONN:

And you're usurping the product for your own agenda.

CHELSEY DONN:

So that's shady to me.

CHELSEY DONN:

Obviously, it was humorous,

CHELSEY DONN:

it was not an, I, you know what, that was a, that was a question that I had at various points because I thought if you're going to make a joke about shake weights, And you're going to play a character that's going to be the most offended about a shake weight, you would probably pick Doris.

CHELSEY DONN:

So, I was like, was it a fake review?

CHELSEY DONN:

Was it a planted review?

CHELSEY DONN:

But it felt real, too.

TREY GERRALD:

do you think it's

CHELSEY DONN:

There were just a few times when we were reading it that I was like, this is such an agenda thing, like, is this even, like, real life?

CHELSEY DONN:

Or is this somebody being like, oh my god, look at this hilarious Christian review of, Uh, yeah, with a can of pea, you know what I mean?

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, it feels like a groundling sketch or something, so that's why I was like,

TREY GERRALD:

maybe it's fake.

CHELSEY DONN:

yeah, maybe.

CHELSEY DONN:

Either way, we were humored, we don't know whether or not we should give credit for that to Doris or not, like was it intentional, was it not?

TREY GERRALD:

I guess I just wonder, like, do you think that Doris's pastor, like, would be proud of this review?

TREY GERRALD:

Like, do you

CHELSEY DONN:

But that's the whole point, that's what I mean, like, everything is such hypocrisy.

CHELSEY DONN:

Because it's like, Jesus wouldn't have wanted you to be so judgmental.

CHELSEY DONN:

They would have wanted you to just let the person experience their own journey.

CHELSEY DONN:

Right?

CHELSEY DONN:

Like if the shake

TREY GERRALD:

show you the way.

CHELSEY DONN:

show you the,

TREY GERRALD:

where we're getting stuck with Doris, is they think they're showing the way, but

CHELSEY DONN:

but they're not, they're being exactly.

CHELSEY DONN:

And I don't love that, but.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's the general impact for me, right?

CHELSEY DONN:

So that kind of takes away from any value of the product, because the impact is really about Doris and their platform and not about the product, but

CHELSEY DONN:

I've,

TREY GERRALD:

appreciate your distinction of sort of like moving the analogy

CHELSEY DONN:

right,

TREY GERRALD:

Christ.

CHELSEY DONN:

yeah, exactly,

TREY GERRALD:

about cheese

CHELSEY DONN:

right, right.

CHELSEY DONN:

Of

TREY GERRALD:

neither you nor I, like, you know, we don't follow the Christian guideposts.

TREY GERRALD:

So without being like awful to people that do,

CHELSEY DONN:

course,

TREY GERRALD:

like pulling out.

TREY GERRALD:

Using an analogy here, like this is about doris's specific following followship of a faith

CHELSEY DONN:

right,

TREY GERRALD:

be a little more extreme than others.

TREY GERRALD:

And, and it's not so much about the product, which is a little complicated,

CHELSEY DONN:

right, and it could be about anything, it could be anyone who's really going off topic for any reason, this would be kind of my opinion at least.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think I can crown Doris.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay,

TREY GERRALD:

conflicted, but let's, let's try.

CHELSEY DONN:

okay.

TREY GERRALD:

All right.

TREY GERRALD:

So Chelsea and I each have our own set of zero to five crown cards.

TREY GERRALD:

In an effort to be fair and biblical and not influenced by one another's.

TREY GERRALD:

Denomination.

TREY GERRALD:

We will simultaneously reveal our Jesus freak ratings.

VOICEOVER:

Total Score,

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, wow, Trey, we're really on a roll here.

CHELSEY DONN:

Queens are unanimous again.

CHELSEY DONN:

Half crown, half crown.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm really just giving the half crown for like the humor and the fact that I got to see you in drag today and that this inspired this conversation.

CHELSEY DONN:

Other than that, obviously, I can't give Doris any credit because she didn't do the fundamental job of a review, which is to review the product, not the product.

CHELSEY DONN:

Anything outside of that.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I really could only just throw Doris a half of a bone.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm sure she'd throw it back.

CHELSEY DONN:

But that's what she's getting from me.

CHELSEY DONN:

Why half crown for Doris from you?

TREY GERRALD:

I'm just saying a half crown because I don't know that the impact of this is going to stop me from using the shake weight.

TREY GERRALD:

I do think the shake weight has become a novelty.

TREY GERRALD:

I think it's a gimmick.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know.

TREY GERRALD:

We're going to do a live review, but

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah

TREY GERRALD:

probably funnier than it is valuable, which is why it took off so much.

TREY GERRALD:

But I'm doing half a crown because Doris is sharing their truth, which we're all allowed to.

TREY GERRALD:

I do think they lose the way.

TREY GERRALD:

Of reviewing this product.

TREY GERRALD:

But if I take this at their word, I get the impact of what this has done for Doris's Bible study and that they need to sort of like get back on the path and really repent themselves because it really took them and they don't appreciate it.

TREY GERRALD:

And they want to leave a little warning for anyone that believes is them.

TREY GERRALD:

And ultimately, sure, that's queenly.

TREY GERRALD:

Sure.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know that they're hurting anyone at the end of the day, but it's a very specific point of view.

TREY GERRALD:

So half a crown for that.

TREY GERRALD:

Obviously I bought two of them.

TREY GERRALD:

So that was the impact for me.

CHELSEY DONN:

Wow, so fun.

CHELSEY DONN:

Trey, thank you so much for my gift.

CHELSEY DONN:

I love it.

TREY GERRALD:

I can't wait to live

CHELSEY DONN:

I can't wait to try it on the after show.

TREY GERRALD:

we're gonna, we're gonna shake our weights on the

CHELSEY DONN:

Yes.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yes.

TREY GERRALD:

do, Chelsey, we have reached not the most Christian portion, but we have reached the most regal portion of today's show.

TREY GERRALD:

Chelsey, who are you inducting today for?

VOICEOVER:

My Royal Highness.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't know if I've done this before.

CHELSEY DONN:

If I have, I'm going to do it again.

CHELSEY DONN:

I want to nominate TaskRabbit.

CHELSEY DONN:

Now the rabbit is a whole nother story, but TaskRabbit is a platform where you can go on and find like a handyman or find any, really anything that you might need at a short turnaround notice and have things done.

CHELSEY DONN:

And I don't really use TaskRabbit that much generally, but I recently got some new curtains.

CHELSEY DONN:

And I've already had this guy come twice through TaskRabbit, and he's great, he's super fast and efficient, and the thing is, and I'll have to do a little more researching, there are reviews, so you can really cater who you want to hire based on how many reviews that person has and what the reviews say, like personally I'm looking for someone who is fast and efficient, so I I just love TaskRabbit.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think it's fantastic, but I really enjoyed my time on the website and or on the app and I wanted to nominate them as My Royal Highness.

CHELSEY DONN:

Thank you, TaskRabbit.

TREY GERRALD:

Very nice.

TREY GERRALD:

I think I've done TaskRabbit before.

CHELSEY DONN:

Have you?

TREY GERRALD:

from Ikea, they recommend TaskRabbit.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

TREY GERRALD:

there's some, like, affiliation.

TREY GERRALD:

But God, that's so genius, because there are so many people that have a lot of expertise and things like that.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

TREY GERRALD:

for those of us that need a little assistance, genius.

TREY GERRALD:

Well, Queens, we did it.

TREY GERRALD:

That's another round on the R U A R Q Ferris Wheel of Devotion.

CHELSEY DONN:

Thank you for joining us today.

CHELSEY DONN:

If you like what you heard, we'll pray for you.

CHELSEY DONN:

But if you wouldn't mind telling a friend, well, we'd mighty appreciate it.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh,

TREY GERRALD:

you heard, well, we'll pray for you, and we would mighty appreciate it if you would tell an enemy, aka Satan himself.

CHELSEY DONN:

my goodness.

TREY GERRALD:

on today's aftershow, Chelsey and I are gonna be doing a live review of the Shake Weight.

TREY GERRALD:

We are gonna test it out, we're gonna go over, when I purchased this, it did say it came with a DVD, and I'm noticing neither you nor

CHELSEY DONN:

Huh!

TREY GERRALD:

have a DVD,

CHELSEY DONN:

DVD.

TREY GERRALD:

gonna go in hot.

TREY GERRALD:

Ciao.

TREY GERRALD:

Ha!

TREY GERRALD:

Ta!

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, fine.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, okay.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't want you to enter yourself on my watch.

TREY GERRALD:

Hold with both hands, elbows close to the body, and tighten, she's still doing it.

TREY GERRALD:

I wonder why that was set to, I'm

CHELSEY DONN:

I feel dirty.

TREY GERRALD:

I feel like this is probably how much an Oscar weighs.

I didn't even know I was nominated!

TREY GERRALD:

I definitely think that's what, um, Reese Witherspoon did.

I think she practiced with her.
