Transcript
CHELSEY DONN:

Get those two worn out butt pads, put them together, and see if you can form half a brain.

TREY GERRALD:

Okay.

VOICEOVER:

Everybody's got an opinion, Every Californian and Virginian, It's so hard to tell who to trust and who to ignore, Someone's gotta settle the score., Trey and Chelsey will help you choose, Whose views win which ones lose, Online haters are coming for you, Baby, it's time to Review That Review!,

CHELSEY DONN:

Hello,

TREY GERRALD:

hello!

TREY GERRALD:

This,

TREY GERRALD:

we're, we're going into my complaint, but, Hi!

TREY GERRALD:

Welcome!

TREY GERRALD:

Welcome!

TREY GERRALD:

Oh my god.

TREY GERRALD:

Welcome!

TREY GERRALD:

Hello and welcome to Review That Review.

TREY GERRALD:

We are the podcast that is dedicated to reviewing

CHELSEY DONN:

Reviews,

TREY GERRALD:

That's a Normal Voice, Chelsey

CHELSEY DONN:

and that's a little squeaky voice, Trey Gerald,

TREY GERRALD:

But together we are,

VOICEOVER:

The Review Queens,

CHELSEY DONN:

that's right, and Trey, it's your turn this week, I'm guessing you might like to,

VOICEOVER:

Ledge a complaint,

TREY GERRALD:

well, you obviously all can hear.

TREY GERRALD:

And now that I'm going to be talking about it, my voice will probably be normal, but something is going on with me.

TREY GERRALD:

I noticed the last couple of days, like my throat was sore.

TREY GERRALD:

So I was like, okay, maybe it's like the seasons and we had to do this whole thing with our air conditioning.

TREY GERRALD:

But at work yesterday, I noticed as I was talking, like my voice would just go in and out, which is like really uncomfortable in a professional setting to be like, excuse me.

TREY GERRALD:

And so I wrote down, well, I wrote down losing voice, but the complaint is the circumstances around it, the interactions around it, and I'm just now in this moment recognizing this is an audio medium, so there's no disguising it, I don't know what's happening, maybe it's just a little, like, cold or something, but my voice just sort of pops in and out every now and then, and if I try to be, uh, inflective or anything, sometimes I can't.

TREY GERRALD:

And I remember when I was doing a one person show, I would, like, steam before the show, and I took it so seriously, and very concerned about losing my voice, because one run through, I, like, lost my voice for a second, I had to, like, stop, and, like, drink water, and so then, of course, I was terrified of that the entire time, but it really did make me think, like, what it must be like to play Elphaba on Broadway, because I just can't, I can't imagine the trauma and the strain and the fear,

TREY GERRALD:

That, that you just live in, but I don't think I'm, I think I'm a little under perhaps, but my complaint is losing the voice because it's, as a control freak, it's something you just have no control over, and then like, I don't know if I want to preface it before it happens or just wait until it happens,

TREY GERRALD:

but then sometimes it's like, Even, like, the clearing the throat action, like, I can tell, like, I'm not actually clearing my, I don't know what it is, I'm not coughing anything up, I don't know what's happening, it's just, feels very dry, a little bit sore, the voice goes in and out, so, that's my complaint, everyone, what are your thoughts, Chelsey,

CHELSEY DONN:

Well, you know that I have one thought right off the bat, Trey, which is,

TREY GERRALD:

Grethers,

CHELSEY DONN:

where's your brother's?

CHELSEY DONN:

Where is your brother's?

TREY GERRALD:

it didn't occur to me until this moment,

CHELSEY DONN:

I just put a pop to Gruthers myself.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think Gruthers is the solution to all things vocally related.

CHELSEY DONN:

So anyway, I'm sorry you're feeling a little under the weather, Trey, but complaint lodged.

CHELSEY DONN:

And hopefully this Gruthers, do do do do do do do, brings all the vocal magic and makes you, I don't know, it's like a DW40 for your voice, I hope.

TREY GERRALD:

I love Grethers and coffee together,

CHELSEY DONN:

ha ha ha,

TREY GERRALD:

alright, Queen, are you ready to go, hand to hand, oh, I can't do it,

CHELSEY DONN:

Are you ready to go head to head?

TREY GERRALD:

I am, let's do it!

VOICEOVER:

that kvetch, Review

TREY GERRALD:

everyone, today is another ver

TREY GERRALD:

see?

CHELSEY DONN:

I could do it.

CHELSEY DONN:

Do you want me to do

TREY GERRALD:

No, I think it'll be funny if it?

TREY GERRALD:

just pops in and out, but thank you.

TREY GERRALD:

Today is another Versus episode, and y'all know that that means we are gonna cover the same topic, but we're gonna be covering both a one star and a five star.

CHELSEY DONN:

that's right.

CHELSEY DONN:

For this versus episode, Trey has selected the one star and I have selected the five star.

TREY GERRALD:

da ding!

CHELSEY DONN:

So to determine who reads first, we got to flip that quarter.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yes.

TREY GERRALD:

I'm gonna say tails.

TREY GERRALD:

And it is heads.

CHELSEY DONN:

All right.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I guess that means we're going to hear the five star.

TREY GERRALD:

Well, today, everyone, Chelsey and I are going to be collecting data from both ends of the spectrum of online reviews for good old Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood.

TREY GERRALD:

At the time of this recording, there are 2021 reviews on Yelp with an average score of 3.

TREY GERRALD:

6 out of 5, and 108 reviews on TripAdvisor with an average score of 3.

TREY GERRALD:

5 out of 5.

TREY GERRALD:

So those are sort of unanimous according to their website.

TREY GERRALD:

Hamburger Mary's is an open air bar and grill for open minded people, serving a full menu of tasty items, big and juicy gourmet burgers, yummy apps, soups, salads, and entrees, and an extensive bar menu featuring craft beers and cocktails.

TREY GERRALD:

Hamburger Mary's offers a flamboyant dining experience along with nightly entertainment.

TREY GERRALD:

From our, quote unquote, Dining With The Divas, drag shows, and charity, quote unquote, Ham Bingo Marys, to Marioke, Karaoke, and Trivia Nights.

TREY GERRALD:

The first Hamburger Marys opened in San Francisco.

TREY GERRALD:

We keep going to San Fran!

CHELSEY DONN:

I know, you're right.

TREY GERRALD:

The first Hamburger Mary's opened in San Francisco in 1972 and continues to expand today with three locations in California, two in Florida, as well as prominent locations in Colorado, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio, Texas, and Wisconsin.

TREY GERRALD:

We are also known for our charity fundraising and support for our communities, especially among the LGBTQ community.

TREY GERRALD:

Hamburger Mary's, their tagline is, eat, drink, and be, dot, dot, dot.

TREY GERRALD:

Mary.

TREY GERRALD:

All right.

TREY GERRALD:

So with all of that background info, let's jump in.

CHELSEY DONN:

let's do it.

VOICEOVER:

Review, I

CHELSEY DONN:

Trey, we didn't really discuss this a little bit at the top, but quickly, Trey recently came and visited LA.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think we talked about this and we actually went to Hamburger Mary's.

TREY GERRALD:

Yes.

TREY GERRALD:

We did

CHELSEY DONN:

To this particular location.

CHELSEY DONN:

So we do have a little bit of insider Baseball knowledge here,

TREY GERRALD:

opinions

CHELSEY DONN:

some opinions, including a picture inside which we'll have to post on our socials when this episode airs.

CHELSEY DONN:

But Trey, I'm gonna start things off cheery and bright.

CHELSEY DONN:

Alright, so as we know I have the five star review.

CHELSEY DONN:

It is written by Tessie B.

CHELSEY DONN:

The way they spell it is interesting, T E S E E B, Five

TREY GERRALD:

to cb.

CHELSEY DONN:

Star Review on Yelp, Tessie is an elite reviewer who's contributed over 634 reviews, five Thousand and 327 photos and has 538 followers.

CHELSEY DONN:

So let's find out what Tessie has to say about Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood.

TREY GERRALD:

All right.

TREY GERRALD:

Here we go.

VOICEOVER:

am what I am, and what I am needs no excuses, I feel my own deck, sometimes the ace, sometimes the deuces, From

CHELSEY DONN:

that's what goes through my head when I think of this place.

VOICEOVER:

the

CHELSEY DONN:

it, forget that the burgers are fantabulous and the drinks are ginormous, it's the welcoming upbeat atmosphere and the feeling like you belong that gets ya, all whilst, oh god I hate that word, all whilst the MC is calling you out or shaming you, all in fun of course, the music makes you want to dance.

CHELSEY DONN:

I did, and enjoyed watching several others doing the same.

CHELSEY DONN:

This evening was like any other, filled with fun, laughter, various celebrations, and amazing performances.

CHELSEY DONN:

Each performer had their own vibe and style, which made it exciting to watch.

CHELSEY DONN:

What would they be wearing next?

CHELSEY DONN:

And what will they perform?

CHELSEY DONN:

They all moved around the restaurant singing and dancing as we waved our dollar bills.

CHELSEY DONN:

What a great time!

CHELSEY DONN:

A must if you have never been here before or are visiting from out of town, our server Mikey was great.

CHELSEY DONN:

She had a lot of tables but managed to keep us on her radar the entire night.

CHELSEY DONN:

The rest of the staff helped her along.

CHELSEY DONN:

Everyone was professional and very sweet.

CHELSEY DONN:

Parking can sometimes get tricky, depending on what night you come here.

CHELSEY DONN:

Arrive early to find parking.

CHELSEY DONN:

There's meter parking, a few lots in the area, and side streets that may require permits.

CHELSEY DONN:

Mm hmm.

CHELSEY DONN:

Please read all signs thoroughly to avoid towing.

CHELSEY DONN:

Or a ticket.

CHELSEY DONN:

This is a good time, so don't spoil your mood by getting a ticket.

CHELSEY DONN:

Bring plenty of dollar bills.

CHELSEY DONN:

You'll need them.

CHELSEY DONN:

These performers are great!

CHELSEY DONN:

Danny Kaye, Torta, Angina was on first season of RuPaul's Drag Race.

TREY GERRALD:

gotta settle the score., Trey and Chelsey will

CHELSEY DONN:

All right, so we have several photos because that seems to be part of Tessie's like ML, they love including photos, in fact, Tessie even included some videos, which I didn't really know was a thing that you could do on Yelp until Tessie, but right, but apparently you can, so we have the first one is Mary's seedy Paloma, a double baby, and it's just a picture of a And then the blue ocean, which is a picture of a blue drink with a lemon squeeze in it.

CHELSEY DONN:

Then we have a picture of the menu, which honestly is kind of appreciated because I think it's pretty much QR code these days, so that's not a bad thing to have in a review.

CHELSEY DONN:

Then we have me and our lovely server.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think it might be Mickey, you guys.

CHELSEY DONN:

Mickey.

CHELSEY DONN:

She was awesome.

CHELSEY DONN:

And we're finding out in this photo that Tessie is, I would say, Late 40s,

CHELSEY DONN:

they're holding up a peace sign wearing a kind of like boho top.

CHELSEY DONN:

They're giving a little like Idina Menzel vibes,

CHELSEY DONN:

a little bit.

CHELSEY DONN:

The next photo is, this is interesting, Trey, because we didn't do this.

CHELSEY DONN:

Mary Burger Kobe beef with Swiss cheese and fries.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yum!

CHELSEY DONN:

With four exclamation points.

CHELSEY DONN:

It definitely looks better than the burgers that we got.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think maybe we should have upgraded to the Kobe beef.

CHELSEY DONN:

Then there's a video of the inside.

CHELSEY DONN:

And then, a little video of just like, uh, Danny Kaye performing, Lana Del Rey, and a video of Angina from RuPaul's Drag Race performing.

CHELSEY DONN:

Then, we have just a photo of a drag queen singing, I don't know which queen that is.

CHELSEY DONN:

Celebrate here in style with a rainbow, big slice of rainbow cake with a sparkler, so obviously they're celebrating something.

CHELSEY DONN:

And then, there's a picture of Marilyn Monroe, like, near the bar.

CHELSEY DONN:

It says love the Marilyn pick on the wall inside.

CHELSEY DONN:

So many photos, guys.

CHELSEY DONN:

Then there's, there's Tessie is now sitting next to another girl that seems sort of in the same vein.

CHELSEY DONN:

She has tattoos, but she's wearing like a leopard print little cute dress.

CHELSEY DONN:

And she has one of those headbands that I love wearing with a little knot in the middle.

CHELSEY DONN:

And it says made a new friend.

CHELSEY DONN:

Meet Britney visiting from Vancouver.

CHELSEY DONN:

Cheers.

CHELSEY DONN:

And they're cheersing.

CHELSEY DONN:

It looks like this might be Tessie's daughter's.

CHELSEY DONN:

21st birthday would be my guess because this next photo is Tessie with three girls and it says celebrating the girls turning 21.

CHELSEY DONN:

Maybe they're triplets, honestly.

CHELSEY DONN:

Actually, they kind of look like triplets.

CHELSEY DONN:

They might be.

CHELSEY DONN:

She could be a mother to triplets.

CHELSEY DONN:

God bless her.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, and then finally, Wow, Trey.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, I'll let you guess in a second.

CHELSEY DONN:

What girl wouldn't want a leopard pump with their bill server to them?

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't Means but basically they give you your check inside of a heel and so they got a Leopard heel and I want you to guess Trey now This is a 21st birthday of triplets with their mom any idea what the bill might have been

TREY GERRALD:

472?

CHELSEY DONN:

Wow That's like higher than I thought you were going to guess.

CHELSEY DONN:

328.

CHELSEY DONN:

99.

TREY GERRALD:

Oof.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's a lot of, that's, that's more than I thought it was

TREY GERRALD:

Well, I've been in the one stars, so all I've been going through is

CHELSEY DONN:

That was how expensive it is.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

CHELSEY DONN:

So anyway, that's that.

TREY GERRALD:

So how many attachments do they have?

TREY GERRALD:

Pictures and videos?

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my God.

CHELSEY DONN:

So many guys, like 10, I think they max out.

TREY GERRALD:

They've created a maximum just for Tessie.

TREY GERRALD:

Y'all power.

CHELSEY DONN:

9, 14, 15.

CHELSEY DONN:

15.

TREY GERRALD:

Holy.

TREY GERRALD:

Well, we gotta start at the top here.

TREY GERRALD:

Obviously,

TREY GERRALD:

there is a lot of value, there's a lot of new, and there is a lot of unique information in

TREY GERRALD:

this Elite Reviewers Review.

CHELSEY DONN:

Agree.

TREY GERRALD:

Where they are a little vague in their actual name, the value of their product is really full.

CHELSEY DONN:

Agree.

TREY GERRALD:

They, I kind of find it endearing, but I also do think it is like, valuable to sort of walk through what the experience is.

TREY GERRALD:

It's like, you're going to

TREY GERRALD:

see a bunch of drag queens, you got to put dollars in the air, which they're always going to explain at the top of a drag show, they're going

TREY GERRALD:

to walk around, they're going to change clothes, you're going to have so much fun, there's going to be so many people, but the server will still keep up with you, the food is great, like they're really talking you through it, which I think there's value there because now that drag is more mainstream and less.

TREY GERRALD:

Underground, it is sort of like any walk of life, can can go and feel welcome

TREY GERRALD:

and that might be intimidating if you have never been, So I actually appreciate Tessie walking us through that, I also think it's funny that at the top, They're like, the MC is gonna be shaming you!

TREY GERRALD:

It's

TREY GERRALD:

fun, and then at the end, We're like, everyone's very professional and very sweet, I'm

TREY GERRALD:

like, I guess both of those are happening simultaneously,

CHELSEY DONN:

Well, maybe like the drunker you get, the more you're like, this is great.

TREY GERRALD:

Does Tessie write out the lyrics of I Am What I Am?

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, they put them in quotes, but like that particular part of the song is like, it's not the beginning, like, I am what I am.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, it's like a little bit more riffy part of the song, so I just didn't feel like singing it.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I figured I'd let everybody listen to it.

CHELSEY DONN:

But yes, it's like that exact part of the song in quotes.

TREY GERRALD:

You know, because obviously I Am What I Am is from the musical La Cage, and it was a very popular radio song and disco cover,

TREY GERRALD:

so it infiltrated past Broadway, but I do find it to be of a certain era,

TREY GERRALD:

But, like, to think, like, oh, like, what goes through my head when I think of, like, a drag show at Hamburger Mary's?

TREY GERRALD:

It would be the song, I Am What I Am!

TREY GERRALD:

That's so funny!

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, I mean, I get

TREY GERRALD:

But I think Tessie's meeting it as pure of heart as possible, which also is accurate.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, I agree.

TREY GERRALD:

I also, like, the helpfulness here, like, Chelsea and I had to move her

TREY GERRALD:

car and like we were dealing because it is like West Hollywood so you have all these permits and then the public parking which is across the street happened to be closed the day we were there and so that is very valuable because

TREY GERRALD:

if you are in Los Angeles and you're from, I don't know, Idaho, and you're like, let's go see Drag Queens, we're in LA, like, you may not know

TREY GERRALD:

the lay of the land,

CHELSEY DONN:

like Uber there, or really give yourself extra time

CHELSEY DONN:

to circle and find a spot.

TREY GERRALD:

I so love all of the photos, but like to take a photo with the server, which I just think is so funny.

TREY GERRALD:

Because

TREY GERRALD:

you're seeing all these drag queens, but they're like, For the sake of my review, I need to get a picture with Mickey.

CHELSEY DONN:

Well, like I said, clearly photos are super, super important to them because they, like I said, have.

CHELSEY DONN:

5, 327 photos from 634 reviews.

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, I can quickly do some math, but like per capita,

TREY GERRALD:

I mean,

CHELSEY DONN:

of photos.

TREY GERRALD:

is not lazy.

TREY GERRALD:

They're not doing the bare minimum.

CHELSEY DONN:

No, yeah, I mean, it's almost nine photos average per review, and that's a lot,

TREY GERRALD:

So spelling grammar, pretty perfect, right?

CHELSEY DONN:

yeah, really good, there was like one weird error in the last photo, which

TREY GERRALD:

like, a caption?

CHELSEY DONN:

not to stick the landing there, Tessie, but other than that, yeah, yeah,

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, I think this is truthful.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't think At any point, Tessie's being shady.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think that Tessie really stays in that, like, happy, borderline, Pollyanna lane the whole time.

CHELSEY DONN:

I didn't see season one of Drag Race, so can you tell us anything about Angina?

TREY GERRALD:

Angina is a very beloved queen in the fandom.

TREY GERRALD:

She is credited many times for giving season one a very raw authenticity because Angina reveals that they are HIV positive on season one.

TREY GERRALD:

Like on the runway, many auditors of the show have speculated the fact that Angina went there gave the show more credence that like, we're really doing something real here.

TREY GERRALD:

And we're, you know, what is the value of creating a different image?

TREY GERRALD:

And, and then Angina, Had this sort of following where they, every single year of All Stars, there was a campaign for Angina to be on All Stars, and was never on, but then they did get on, like, season, All Star 6, maybe, or 7, or

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

So they're a beloved member of the community.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's awesome.

CHELSEY DONN:

And then do we feel like this experience is common?

CHELSEY DONN:

I guess we can sort of use our own experience as some sort of mirror.

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, it's kind of like, cafeteria food, in a way, in my opinion, like, I wouldn't say that the food is tasty, I wouldn't say it's bad, but I

TREY GERRALD:

wouldn't

CHELSEY DONN:

wonder if we would have gotten the Kobe beef.

TREY GERRALD:

if you do the upcharge, I think it was like 6

CHELSEY DONN:

have like all these up charges that you could do, which I didn't do.

CHELSEY DONN:

But I wonder if like the food was so spectacular because.

CHELSEY DONN:

They got the Kobe, I don't know.

CHELSEY DONN:

So that's probably not common because I don't think a lot of people are gonna do that upcharge.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think in terms of like the entertainment quality and how much energy is in the room and how enthusiastic generally people are to be there and I think that could be pretty common.

TREY GERRALD:

I think so.

TREY GERRALD:

And it feels like if you're going there for fun, you're going to have

TREY GERRALD:

fun.

TREY GERRALD:

Will there be minor inconveniences here and there?

TREY GERRALD:

Yeah, because there's a lot of people and it's like service.

TREY GERRALD:

But

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, it's fun at the end of the day.

TREY GERRALD:

It's a drag show.

CHELSEY DONN:

Totally agree.

CHELSEY DONN:

Were we humored, entertained?

CHELSEY DONN:

yeah,

TREY GERRALD:

I, you were, you were sort of speaking to something.

TREY GERRALD:

There's this Pollyanna ishness is valuable and endearing, but it is also sort of like, well, do you just think like, Oh my gosh, the bathrooms had toilet paper.

TREY GERRALD:

Oh my gosh.

TREY GERRALD:

Like it

TREY GERRALD:

is sort of like,

CHELSEY DONN:

true,

TREY GERRALD:

But it's lacking any sort of edge or anything.

TREY GERRALD:

Like it's

TREY GERRALD:

just

CHELSEY DONN:

like usually we like a little bit of like a negative sandwich just to believe the review, like give me one thing that wasn't so great so that the things that you say are great have hold more value.

TREY GERRALD:

right.

TREY GERRALD:

Cause it's really just a lot of data,

CHELSEY DONN:

lot of

TREY GERRALD:

especially with the images and the videos.

TREY GERRALD:

So, it's data heavy more so than it is entertaining, I would say.

CHELSEY DONN:

I agree.

CHELSEY DONN:

And what do we feel like the overall impact is here?

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, are we going?

TREY GERRALD:

Yeah,

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm going.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think I might even be able to crown.

TREY GERRALD:

yeah, I could crown.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, let's go into the crowning.

TREY GERRALD:

we do, Chelsey

CHELSEY DONN:

for

VOICEOVER:

Lip Sync, for your life.

VOICEOVER:

Good luck, and don't f it up.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, Trey, this is Name That Lip Sync For Your Life.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, Trey, here's the deal.

CHELSEY DONN:

So, basically, I'm gonna ask you trivia questions

CHELSEY DONN:

about various lip syncs from RuPaul's Drag Race.

CHELSEY DONN:

Now, if you know the answer, Before I give your four options, you're gonna get double points.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I'll give you a second to write your answer and then I will read them aloud.

CHELSEY DONN:

You can just tell me if you're locked or if you want your options.

CHELSEY DONN:

Either way listeners, I'm going to give you the options.

CHELSEY DONN:

So here we go, Trey.

CHELSEY DONN:

Are you ready to name that lip sync for your life?

TREY GERRALD:

I think so, yes.

TREY GERRALD:

Yes!

CHELSEY DONN:

alright, you got this.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, so Anitra and Marsha, Marsha, Marsha did an immediately iconic lip sync to which song?

CHELSEY DONN:

And do you know?

TREY GERRALD:

I know she jumps over her, but I don't remember the song.

CHELSEY DONN:

It's okay, so I can give you options if you, if you don't want the option of writing it down.

TREY GERRALD:

Yeah, I don't

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know.

CHELSEY DONN:

your options are Boss Bitch, by Doja Cat, Rain On Me, by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, Physical, by Dua Lipa, XS, by Rina Sawayama.

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, this is so wild.

TREY GERRALD:

Uh, I, I think it might be physical.

TREY GERRALD:

Oh,

CHELSEY DONN:

no, Trey, I thought, I really thought,

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know the newer seasons as much.

TREY GERRALD:

I've only seen them

CHELSEY DONN:

okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

Well, we're not only gonna do newer seasons.

CHELSEY DONN:

Do you have a second guess for 50%?

CHELSEY DONN:

It's

TREY GERRALD:

I'm trying to think, why did she jump over her?

TREY GERRALD:

Why did she leap over her?

TREY GERRALD:

I don't even know what boss bitch is.

TREY GERRALD:

So, rain on me?

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, dear.

CHELSEY DONN:

actually Boss Bitch.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think it's that song, I'm a boss bitch, dunna, like, you know, dunna.

TREY GERRALD:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

CHELSEY DONN:

Did that clear it up?

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, wrong, moving on.

CHELSEY DONN:

Well, I'll try.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, in season 13, Denali defeated Kamara Hall in an iconic lip sync.

CHELSEY DONN:

Which 90s song did they lip sync to?

TREY GERRALD:

No, I don't know the song, I know what they were wearing, and she had that peacock thing, and Kamora Hall just stood there,

TREY GERRALD:

and the gorgeous dragon thing,

CHELSEY DONN:

that is true.

TREY GERRALD:

so I don't know, you'll have to give

CHELSEY DONN:

options are Barbie Girl

CHELSEY DONN:

by Aqua, Believe, that was a bad Cher impersonation, by Cher,

TREY GERRALD:

Believe

TREY GERRALD:

a hole!

CHELSEY DONN:

Believe, Um, Finally by CeCe

CHELSEY DONN:

Penniston,

TREY GERRALD:

obviously Dieter Reitz did that famously, yeah,

CHELSEY DONN:

so that's a good clue that maybe it's on that, or 100 percent

CHELSEY DONN:

Pure Love by Crystal Waters,

TREY GERRALD:

Well, I can remember Denali like duck walking and like being so fierce.

TREY GERRALD:

I think it's a hundred percent pure love.

TREY GERRALD:

I thank God.

CHELSEY DONN:

is correct,

TREY GERRALD:

These songs, I'm not a music person.

TREY GERRALD:

I can tell you what they wore.

TREY GERRALD:

I can tell you the size of their heels.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, well, it's okay, I

TREY GERRALD:

All right.

TREY GERRALD:

That's fine.

TREY GERRALD:

We're having fun.

TREY GERRALD:

I'm Tessa and I'm having fun.

TREY GERRALD:

Tessie.

CHELSEY DONN:

Michaels was the undisputed lip sync assassin of Season 10, but who did she eliminate during a lip sync of Lizzo's Good As Hell?

CHELSEY DONN:

Do you want your options or do you want to guess?

TREY GERRALD:

Well, I know Cameron was good friends with Eureka, but they made it to the finale.

TREY GERRALD:

Season 10s, 10s,

TREY GERRALD:

10s across the board.

TREY GERRALD:

Asia O'Hare was Butterfly, so she was the finale.

CHELSEY DONN:

my god, the butterflies.

TREY GERRALD:

And that's Aquaria.

TREY GERRALD:

Aquaria runs season 10, right?

TREY GERRALD:

Or is she 11?

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know who Cameron

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, let's give you the options.

CHELSEY DONN:

Is it Mayhem Miller,

TREY GERRALD:

No, she went earlier.

CHELSEY DONN:

Monet X Change,

CHELSEY DONN:

Blair St.

CHELSEY DONN:

Clair, or The Vixen?

TREY GERRALD:

Jesus.

CHELSEY DONN:

Who did Cameron Michaels defeat with Lizzo's Good As Hell?

TREY GERRALD:

Feeling good, isn't it?

TREY GERRALD:

This is really a challenge.

CHELSEY DONN:

I thought this would be like, this is a very niche game.

CHELSEY DONN:

I hope our listeners watch Drag Race.

CHELSEY DONN:

If you don't, you can fast forward.

CHELSEY DONN:

But I thought Trey knows everything about Drag Race.

CHELSEY DONN:

He's my Drag Race, like, fairy godmother.

TREY GERRALD:

but, but like, I don't know these seasons.

TREY GERRALD:

Okay, Cameron Michaels.

TREY GERRALD:

I wonder if Cameron eliminated Monet.

TREY GERRALD:

Blair is so random, but I also don't remember who eliminated the Vixen.

TREY GERRALD:

I'm gonna, I'm just gonna say Monet, because I think Monet is interesting.

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, wow.

CHELSEY DONN:

is correct.

CHELSEY DONN:

Very good, Trey.

TREY GERRALD:

quit drag.

TREY GERRALD:

Look at that.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, see?

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, in Valentina's infamous Season 9 lip sync, which Ariana Grande, which, okay,

TREY GERRALD:

Greedy!

CHELSEY DONN:

I'd like

TREY GERRALD:

You know that I'm greedy for cum.

CHELSEY DONN:

okay, write it down if you think you know the

TREY GERRALD:

I know what the song is.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, okay, that's what we're asking, but for our listeners, for our listeners, for our listeners,

TREY GERRALD:

Sorry.

CHELSEY DONN:

going to write it down because I think he knows.

CHELSEY DONN:

Alright, which Ariana Grande song did she not know the word to so she kept her mask on?

CHELSEY DONN:

Ready?

CHELSEY DONN:

Was it Ariana Grande's One Last Time?, was it The Way?, was it Into You?, or was it Greedy?, and Trey has written down the answer for this one, so he's up for double points.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's right, Trey.

CHELSEY DONN:

He gets double points for that because it is greedy.

TREY GERRALD:

I'd like to keep it on, please.

CHELSEY DONN:

like to keep it on, please.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's such an iconic, amazing moment.

CHELSEY DONN:

All right.

CHELSEY DONN:

In season eight, going a little bit earlier, maybe this is helpful, Bob, the drag queen, only landed once in the bottom two.

CHELSEY DONN:

Who did she lip sync against and ultimately end up sending home?

CHELSEY DONN:

Do you know before I give the answers to our listeners?

TREY GERRALD:

Is it Derek?

CHELSEY DONN:

Write it down if you think you know.

TREY GERRALD:

Sorry.

TREY GERRALD:

Yeah.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, Okay, writing it down.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, perfect.

CHELSEY DONN:

Is it Chi Chi Devane, Thorgy Thor, Acid Betty, or Derrick Barry?

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, Trey, you've written it down.

CHELSEY DONN:

You want to hold it up?

TREY GERRALD:

thought very certain that it was Derek Barry.

CHELSEY DONN:

You're right.

CHELSEY DONN:

It is Derrick Barry.

TREY GERRALD:

But my question was, was it Thorgy?

TREY GERRALD:

Because they had such a storyline.

TREY GERRALD:

But

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, it was Derrick.

CHELSEY DONN:

Good guess.

CHELSEY DONN:

Double points.

CHELSEY DONN:

In Season 5, Jinx Monsoon only landed once in the bottom two.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, so write it down.

CHELSEY DONN:

Who did she lip sync against and ultimately end up sending home?

CHELSEY DONN:

Listeners, was it Alyssa Edwards, Detox, Coco Montrese, or Ivy Winters?

CHELSEY DONN:

Trey is holding it up for double points and he has written,

CHELSEY DONN:

Detox, and Detox is the correct answer, Trey.

CHELSEY DONN:

See, things are really turning

TREY GERRALD:

Wow, wow, wow,

CHELSEY DONN:

That's amazing.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, right?

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, here we

TREY GERRALD:

and they famously changed that number the morning

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, did they?

TREY GERRALD:

yeah,

CHELSEY DONN:

Really?

TREY GERRALD:

on set knew it was being rigged for a jinx,

CHELSEY DONN:

it was being rigged?

CHELSEY DONN:

We'll talk about that in

TREY GERRALD:

yeah, because all the queens were giving her makeup, they were told they had to help her with her makeup off camera, but we'll talk

TREY GERRALD:

about it on

CHELSEY DONN:

I didn't we'll talk about it in the after show.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, in season five, Trey,

CHELSEY DONN:

when Roxie Andrews did her iconic double wig reveal, What song

TREY GERRALD:

Christ.

CHELSEY DONN:

was she lip syncing to?

CHELSEY DONN:

Do you want options?

TREY GERRALD:

I can see it, RuPaul's in green.

TREY GERRALD:

It's against Alyssa.

TREY GERRALD:

Shut Up and Drive is All Stars 2.

TREY GERRALD:

Fuck.

TREY GERRALD:

What is the song?

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, oh, oh, I know what it

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, write it down, write it down.

CHELSEY DONN:

All right, Queens, here are your options.

CHELSEY DONN:

Is it Get the Party Started by Pink, S& M by Rihanna, On the Floor by Jennifer Lopez, or Or Whip My Hair by Willow Smith.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

I see Willow Smith and I think it says Whip My

TREY GERRALD:

I said hair back and forth, Willow

CHELSEY DONN:

That's fine.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'll take it.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'll accept it.

CHELSEY DONN:

Double points for you, Trey.

CHELSEY DONN:

Wow.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm very impressed.

CHELSEY DONN:

You're already at 10 points.

CHELSEY DONN:

See, this is why I had to make it a little difficult.

CHELSEY DONN:

Listeners, how are you doing?

CHELSEY DONN:

I hope you listen.

CHELSEY DONN:

I hope

TREY GERRALD:

watch Tigress.

TREY GERRALD:

Yes.

CHELSEY DONN:

what did she add to her farewell message?

CHELSEY DONN:

Do you know?

TREY GERRALD:

Well, I think, I think I know what you're asking.

CHELSEY DONN:

Alright, write it down.

CHELSEY DONN:

Was it, covered almost all the mirror with shaving cream, drew a giant middle finger, Put her butt imprint on the mirror, Drew two giant eyes with the note they're always watching,

CHELSEY DONN:

Spread lipstick from ass, That's correct, and it's correct,

TREY GERRALD:

so smeared, lipstick from ass.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yes, that's right.

CHELSEY DONN:

That was an iconic moment.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, another bonus, listeners.

CHELSEY DONN:

In season two, Jujubee did an infamous lip sync while very drunk against Sahara Davenport.

CHELSEY DONN:

What song did they perform?

TREY GERRALD:

I have no fucking idea,

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, is it Black Velvet, I'm a Slave for You, I'm Only Happy When It Rains, or Fancy?

TREY GERRALD:

Black Velvet,

CHELSEY DONN:

That is correct.

CHELSEY DONN:

Trey, you are crushing

TREY GERRALD:

but that's only one point,

CHELSEY DONN:

All right, here's another lip sync question.

CHELSEY DONN:

The 20 best drag race all star lip syncs of all time, okay.

TREY GERRALD:

Says who?

CHELSEY DONN:

Says BuzzFeed.

TREY GERRALD:

Okay,

CHELSEY DONN:

Any guesses, all stars, for the number

TREY GERRALD:

oh I know without a doubt,

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, what is

TREY GERRALD:

do I need to write it?

TREY GERRALD:

down?

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, sure, write it down.

TREY GERRALD:

Okay, I already said it earlier,

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, so, your options are, did you write it?

TREY GERRALD:

yeah,

CHELSEY DONN:

Asia vs.

CHELSEY DONN:

Ben DeLaCreme and Nicki Minaj's Anaconda, Jujubee vs.

CHELSEY DONN:

Raven to Robyn's Dancing on My Own, Trinity K.

CHELSEY DONN:

Bonet vs.

CHELSEY DONN:

Laganja Estranja to Dua Lipa's

TREY GERRALD:

that's Physical,

TREY GERRALD:

duh,

CHELSEY DONN:

Alyssa Edwards vs.

CHELSEY DONN:

Tatiana Tariana's Shout Up and Dance.

TREY GERRALD:

shut up and drive,

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, shit.

CHELSEY DONN:

Or Alyssa Edwards versus Tatiana Triana's Shut Up and Drive.

CHELSEY DONN:

He's doing the choreography.

TREY GERRALD:

Obviously, it's Shut Up and Drive, Alyssa

CHELSEY DONN:

up and drive and drive.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, that's great.

CHELSEY DONN:

You have 15 points so far.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

All right.

CHELSEY DONN:

Two more quick questions that I know you're going to now.

CHELSEY DONN:

All right.

CHELSEY DONN:

Along with Mike Ruiz, who was the very first extra special guest judge on the first episode of Drag Race.

TREY GERRALD:

The first episode?

CHELSEY DONN:

The first episode.

TREY GERRALD:

I

CHELSEY DONN:

Tell me if you want options.

TREY GERRALD:

I know who it is.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, we're out of time.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, is it Lady Bunny, Michelle Visage, Martha Walsh, or Bob Mackie?

TREY GERRALD:

Cher Designer, Bob Mackie.

CHELSEY DONN:

That is correct!

CHELSEY DONN:

Trey, I'm so proud of you.

CHELSEY DONN:

And your final question listeners, in case you're behind and you want to catch up with Trey, I'll give you five points if you get this right and Trey ten, but even though I know he's gonna get it right, okay?

CHELSEY DONN:

Complete the iconic The Treece Royale quote from season four, Get those,

TREY GERRALD:

Blank.

TREY GERRALD:

The, the rest of it are just that.

TREY GERRALD:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

say the rest of the quote.

TREY GERRALD:

Okay.

TREY GERRALD:

I'm writing it down.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, you're running out of time.

CHELSEY DONN:

And is it, Bags of bad sheep drag away from my things and take them right back to Party City.

CHELSEY DONN:

Is it, get those two worn out butt pads, put them together and see if you can form half a brain?

CHELSEY DONN:

Is it, get those children together because I'm about to teach a lesson at the foolishness school?

CHELSEY DONN:

Or is it, those nuts away from my face?

CHELSEY DONN:

Face.

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, those are some incredible options.

TREY GERRALD:

But,

TREY GERRALD:

unfortunately, get those nuts away from my face,

CHELSEY DONN:

Madre,

TREY GERRALD:

I was doing the head, but I covered myself with my,

TREY GERRALD:

get those nuts

CHELSEY DONN:

away from my

CHELSEY DONN:

face,

CHELSEY DONN:

That was like one of the moments that I fell in love with La Royale, who is top two?

CHELSEY DONN:

One of my favorite drag queens, along with the iconic Bianca obviously.

CHELSEY DONN:

Alright, 27 points.

CHELSEY DONN:

Trey.

CHELSEY DONN:

Whoo, Trey!

CHELSEY DONN:

You crushed the game as I knew you would.

CHELSEY DONN:

I made you a little nervous there in the beginning because I had to.

TREY GERRALD:

oh my

CHELSEY DONN:

wanted you to feel like you had a challenge.

TREY GERRALD:

well it's because all of the earlier seasons I've watched multiple times, but

TREY GERRALD:

like, once it gets to literally season 9, I've, I think I've never watched them again.

CHELSEY DONN:

okay, makes sense.

CHELSEY DONN:

Well, either way, you crushed it, Queen.

CHELSEY DONN:

Great job.

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, okay, I can exhale.

TREY GERRALD:

All

VOICEOVER:

Review That Review,

TREY GERRALD:

right, well, that was a rousing game break.

TREY GERRALD:

Thank you for that fun, Chelsey.

CHELSEY DONN:

You're welcome.

CHELSEY DONN:

Listeners, I hope you watch Drag Race, and if you don't, seriously, check it

TREY GERRALD:

Yeah, like, I told Chelsey for a very long time she would love it, and she loves it.

CHELSEY DONN:

And it's my life now.

TREY GERRALD:

if you haven't watched it, you're

TREY GERRALD:

just missing out on some joy.

TREY GERRALD:

You know, that's all that you're missing out on.

TREY GERRALD:

And what do we need more of?

TREY GERRALD:

Joy.

CHELSEY DONN:

and also if you can't love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love someone else?

CHELSEY DONN:

Can I get an amen?

TREY GERRALD:

Amen up in here.

TREY GERRALD:

All right, so let's crown.

TREY GERRALD:

So Chelsey and I each have our own set of zero to five crowns and in an effort to be fair, not influence one another, now that we've taken a little break to ruminate,

TREY GERRALD:

we're going to simultaneously reveal our ratings.

CHELSEY DONN:

do it.

VOICEOVER:

The queens are tabulating,

VOICEOVER:

Time for school,

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, the Queens are unanimous, four and a half, four and a half, Trey you go first, by four and a half, crowns for Tessie B.

TREY GERRALD:

almost said five, Review Queen, it's not their fault, they didn't have anything negative to contribute, But, I said four and a half because it's exceedingly valuable, it's exceedingly dense with data, So many pictures, it's almost a little too much, but, it's lacking a little entertainment, There's something about it that's just a little, like, my eyes are glazing over, Cause it's, it's just, like, so rich.

TREY GERRALD:

But I, I love that Tessie had their life and had a great time and they're making it easier for people that might be trepidatious to like go and feel like they can.

TREY GERRALD:

So, four and a half crowns, great job.

TREY GERRALD:

I would just add a little more like humor maybe, or I would, you know, it doesn't have to be a negative point, but just something that makes it feel a little more, Balanced and not just so like you're gushing.

TREY GERRALD:

'cause it's a little bit like, uh, like un unless, you know, unless you just say like, I've never in my life experienced anything like this, which it doesn't seem like that was the experience.

TREY GERRALD:

It just is.

TREY GERRALD:

So, it's a little, it's a little bland in its praise.

TREY GERRALD:

So four and a half.

TREY GERRALD:

Chelsea, why did you say four and a half?

CHELSEY DONN:

I think that this review is dripping with value.

CHELSEY DONN:

There's so much information here.

CHELSEY DONN:

I even love that we're mentioning that we have on Gina from RuPaul's Drag Race, which is getting me kind of excited.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like maybe I can see a contestant from Drag Race on here, the parking tip, you know, even like the nod to the Kobe beef.

CHELSEY DONN:

Maybe I need to upgrade to the Kobe beef next time.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think there's a lot of value here.

CHELSEY DONN:

And that was I went with four and a half crowns.

CHELSEY DONN:

I also similarly, because maybe I'm a little bit cynical at this point in my Review Queen career, wish that there was something a little bit negative, a little bit more grounded, but at the same time, I want to give Tess the benefit of the doubt that maybe this is just who they are.

CHELSEY DONN:

Maybe Tess is a yoga teacher, um, when they're not doing this and they really take their word very seriously.

CHELSEY DONN:

And when they enjoy something, they go all in.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I think it's a good review.

CHELSEY DONN:

Not a hundred percent of Review Queen, but nearly there.

CHELSEY DONN:

Four and a half crowns for Tess B.

TREY GERRALD:

Great job, great find.

CHELSEY DONN:

Thank you.

TREY GERRALD:

Alright, well now that we have covered the five

CHELSEY DONN:

Yes.

TREY GERRALD:

it's my turn.

TREY GERRALD:

And everyone, I want you to know, we're gonna go on a trip on Friday.

TREY GERRALD:

So I have a one star Yelp review written by John with no H, but their last name is starting with an H.

CHELSEY DONN:

Interesting.

TREY GERRALD:

It's gonna, well, I don't want to give too much away, but it's going to be fun.

TREY GERRALD:

So if you want to hear the flip side, you must go over immediately.

Thank you for joining us today.

TREY GERRALD:

you did not like what you heard, please tell an enemy, or a hamburger, On this week's After Show pod, Chelsey and I are both taking a spin on the Meryl Go Round, as well as rating and reviewing the opposite flip side, that, that would be back to, that's redundant, reviewing the flip side of the review spectrum for Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's right.

CHELSEY DONN:

And I wonder why this was said.

CHELSEY DONN:

The waiter is like just hocking your trinik, trying to sell you this like souvenir boot drink thing.

CHELSEY DONN:

He's like, it's the price, it's just so confusing, even the way they say it.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm like, I don't, I don't know.

CHELSEY DONN:

I feel like I'm being tricked here.

CHELSEY DONN:

Also, I don't want to have to commit to drinking a boot or I don't want to have to be like I'm getting a drink.

CHELSEY DONN:

And then you're getting a drink.

CHELSEY DONN:

So we're just going to share this boot.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't know.

CHELSEY DONN:

Maybe I'm too old for boots,

TREY GERRALD:

That's probably gonna be the teaser.

CHELSEY DONN:

but honestly,

TREY GERRALD:

Hmm, I'm over here wandering too.

What's your favorite Drag Race lip sync?

TREY GERRALD:

No,

CHELSEY DONN:

Probably the Alyssa Edwards, Rox, was it Roxy Alyssa on All Stars?

TREY GERRALD:

Tatiana.

CHELSEY DONN:

Tatiana, was that it?

TREY GERRALD:
