VOICEOVER:

Everybody's got

Chelsey Donn:

Hello?

Chelsey Donn:

Hi Santa.

Trey Gerrald:

I just put on a naughty hat, I made it a reveal as I like to do.

Trey Gerrald:

I have headphones and I'm trying to wear the snotty hat.

Trey Gerrald:

Um, anyway.

Trey Gerrald:

Welcome to Review That Review the podcast dedicated to reviewing.

Chelsey Donn:

Reviews!

Chelsey Donn:

Yay.

Chelsey Donn:

We're just like Siskel and Ebert only instead of reviewing cinematic masterpieces, we

Trey Gerrald:

That's Chelsey Donn,

Chelsey Donn:

and that's @TreyGerrald.

Trey Gerrald:

And together we are

VOICEOVER:

The Review Queens.

Trey Gerrald:

And if you want to support the show while getting bonus and exclusive content,

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, Chelsey girl.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know if this naughty hat tipped you off, but Merrrrrry Christmas!

VOICEOVER:

I want a hippopotamous for Christmas!

VOICEOVER:

Only a hippopotomus will do!

Trey Gerrald:

Have you ever heard that song?

Chelsey Donn:

I haven't...

Chelsey Donn:

was that Liza?!

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know who it was.

Trey Gerrald:

some Child singer,

Chelsey Donn:

first of all, love it.

Chelsey Donn:

Second of all.

Chelsey Donn:

No, never heard that song before they wanted to hippopotamus.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

It's just like a, some random, like, I guess Christmas song from back when like men went to

Chelsey Donn:

Oh Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

Cleaning in the streams was a big deal back in day.

Trey Gerrald:

Um, oh my gosh, 'Merry Ho Ho' as my mom says it is our Christmas episode!

Chelsey Donn:

It's true!

Chelsey Donn:

Merry Christmas queens!

Trey Gerrald:

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate girl.

Trey Gerrald:

How was your week?

Chelsey Donn:

My week was great.

Chelsey Donn:

I had an audition today that I had not very much time to prepare, so that's always, you

Chelsey Donn:

And I had a good time and they got to work with my coach Taylor, who I love and adore.

Chelsey Donn:

So great, great day.

Chelsey Donn:

So far.

Chelsey Donn:

How about you trey?

Trey Gerrald:

That's nice.

Trey Gerrald:

You know, I've been having a great week.

Trey Gerrald:

We're still working on training hunter and you know, our dog Winnie knows

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

So, um, we're still working on down with hunter, but it's coming along.

Trey Gerrald:

We just have to remember.

Trey Gerrald:

Work on him.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

But, um, things are good.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm glad that it's Christmas time, you know, people tend to be a little cheerier.

Chelsey Donn:

It is true.

Chelsey Donn:

I think it's the music.

Chelsey Donn:

Just hearing that hippopotamus song already made me feel better, you know?

VOICEOVER:

I want a hippopotamous for Christmas!

Trey Gerrald:

Well, aside from all this Christmas joy, should we get

Trey Gerrald:

Would you like to

VOICEOVER:

Lodge A Complaint?

Chelsey Donn:

I wa as a Christmas gift to myself, I would love to Lodge A Complaint if that's okay.

Chelsey Donn:

I really hate it when I'm eating and I have to sneeze.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, you know, like just very inconvenient timing.

Chelsey Donn:

What, like, what do I, what am I supposed to do with that?

Chelsey Donn:

Like if I sneeze, it's just going to be terrible.

Chelsey Donn:

And

Trey Gerrald:

it does like kickoff that like rubbing your head and patting your stomach thing.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Well also there's food in the mouth, not to be gross.

Chelsey Donn:

You know what I mean?

Chelsey Donn:

Like there's just like a lot to negotiate.

Chelsey Donn:

Correct.

Chelsey Donn:

And, um,

Trey Gerrald:

did this happen to you recently?

Chelsey Donn:

It did.

Chelsey Donn:

It did.

Chelsey Donn:

It happened to me right before we were recording and I was like, I

Chelsey Donn:

I was, yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

I was eating a salad chewing on that lettuce and then I had to sneeze

Chelsey Donn:

I nailed the landing.

Chelsey Donn:

I was able to swallow and then sneeze, but it was stressful.

Chelsey Donn:

Like I was very, very stressed out in the moment.

Chelsey Donn:

There's certain things like, um, sneezing while driving also very bad.

Chelsey Donn:

Apparently when you sneeze, you close your eyes.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, you're you're driving like with your eyes closed for a second, which is also terrifying.

Chelsey Donn:

So the timing of that, it's just like, I love a good sneeze.

Chelsey Donn:

I, I hate when sneezes get cut off early, you know, like when

Chelsey Donn:

So, so thank you, sneezes.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause I think it serves a purpose, getting the dust out or whatever is this gross?

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know, but like everybody's sneezes is right.

Chelsey Donn:

We got to write that book, but I, I like a good sneeze, but the timing of this knees or,

Chelsey Donn:

It's like bad Juju.

Chelsey Donn:

Then all of a sudden this news doesn't come out.

Chelsey Donn:

So a lot of thoughts around sneezing.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I hear you.

Trey Gerrald:

That is a, that's a great complaint.

Trey Gerrald:

I take Zyrtec every day.

Trey Gerrald:

I do my sneezing

Chelsey Donn:

complicated.

Chelsey Donn:

Anyway, Trey, what is your complaint?

Trey Gerrald:

Tell us, so my complaint I thought of, and then as I was like writing

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Well we have gross complaints that I

Trey Gerrald:

both of us, but here's the question.

Trey Gerrald:

How often do you wear your denim jeans before washing them?

Chelsey Donn:

I am a little bit OCD, so I wash them pretty often.

Chelsey Donn:

I'll be honest.

Chelsey Donn:

Well,

Trey Gerrald:

you wear them twice, twice, twice.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So here's my, here's my complaint.

Trey Gerrald:

I will wear my jeans many times before washing them and I leave my wallet in my jeans.

Trey Gerrald:

And so when I am putting the jeans back on, there is no way to put the jeans back

Trey Gerrald:

I can't put it in without it flipping it.

Trey Gerrald:

Inside out basically.

Trey Gerrald:

Right?

Trey Gerrald:

So then I get my jeans on and then I have to do this weird contortion dance where

Trey Gerrald:

And it's one of those things that I don't even like acknowledge is happening, but I thought

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know why the pocket goes the wrong way.

Chelsey Donn:

Do you think it's wallet specific or you think anything in there would, would flip out?

Trey Gerrald:

Well, like when I have gone to the gym, it happens all the time at the gym as well.

Trey Gerrald:

Or if I leave like my phone or my keys in the pocket, those will flip inside out too.

Trey Gerrald:

It's not flipping out.

Trey Gerrald:

It's like, you know, the fabric of the pocket material.

Trey Gerrald:

It's just two sheets of fabric inside behind the Jean denim.

Trey Gerrald:

So you're pulling it up and instead of laying flat, as it is designed,

Trey Gerrald:

So then your leg goes in.

Trey Gerrald:

Instead of the pocket going towards the fly, the pocket is now going towards your ass.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, I see what you're saying.

Trey Gerrald:

So then I have to stick my hand into my pocket.

Trey Gerrald:

It's a flip it to position it from going from my butt towards my fly.

Trey Gerrald:

Wow.

Trey Gerrald:

And then, you know, it's like, I am wearing skinnier jeans, so that's really a big

Chelsey Donn:

hassle.

Chelsey Donn:

Three days later, your pants are on thank God

Trey Gerrald:

three days later and I'm late and I still have to get my ice coffee and this traffic,

Chelsey Donn:

it is, it's just anything like that, that you're just like, this feels like it's too

Trey Gerrald:

There are ways to get around it, but it is something I would like to put on the

Trey Gerrald:

Cause it's something I literally don't think of.

Trey Gerrald:

I get it.

Trey Gerrald:

It's like when you mentioned like how many times in a day we are deleting junk mail.

Trey Gerrald:

So like I never registered that until you mentioned that, and this is another

Trey Gerrald:

And that just said, so that's my complaint.

Trey Gerrald:

And I'm so grateful to get all of this negative energy out because we have been

Trey Gerrald:

So as you all know, Chelsey and I each bring in a review from the internet

Chelsey Donn:

We read the review, break it down and rate the impact of the review

VOICEOVER:

Assess That kvetch.

Trey Gerrald:

And in honor of this holiday called Christmas, Chelsey.

Trey Gerrald:

And I have found reviews that center around the holiday of Christmas and Chelsey, my

Trey Gerrald:

I hope you have some frankincense and myrrh for your journey.

Chelsey Donn:

Review That Review.

Trey Gerrald:

I forgot to tell you that I made a cocktail.

Trey Gerrald:

I never drink, but I have absolute Citroen in here with an sparkling energy drink.

Trey Gerrald:

And I think I'm getting drunk.

Chelsey Donn:

Yay.

Chelsey Donn:

Also, your straw is very festive.

Chelsey Donn:

It's like candy cane.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Very cute.

Chelsey Donn:

Try.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

You guys today?

Chelsey Donn:

My Review!

Chelsey Donn:

is from TripAdvisor.

Chelsey Donn:

It is a one dot Review!

Chelsey Donn:

written by N Beth S.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

We got that from Fort worth, Texas.

Chelsey Donn:

The Review is of the Moscow ballet, the Nutcracker west cast, and just like quick little anecdote.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause I know I'm Jewish and you're like, oh, well what does that Jew know about Christmas?

Chelsey Donn:

Anyway, I was obsessed with the Nutcracker when I was a kid, I collected nutcrackers.

Chelsey Donn:

I went to the ballet every year with my mom.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my gosh.

Chelsey Donn:

And every single year on Hanukkah, one of my eight presents would be tickets to the Nutcracker.

Chelsey Donn:

So I love the Nutcracker.

Chelsey Donn:

Was it usually well with my parents?

Chelsey Donn:

What I love that they did was we'd have eight gifts and we could pick.

Chelsey Donn:

Any of them.

Chelsey Donn:

So each day we would just like pick which one we wanted.

Chelsey Donn:

So it was, I usually knew the one in the envelope was probably the Nutcracker

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

So anyway, we're good.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm excited to hear what NBethS has to say.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, let's see what NBethS and her one dot Review!

Chelsey Donn:

think of the Moscow ballet's production of the Nutcracker.

Chelsey Donn:

The Moscow ballet, the best, right?

Chelsey Donn:

NOT!

Chelsey Donn:

First off, the music was CANNED!

Chelsey Donn:

NO live orchestra.

Chelsey Donn:

One of the most beautiful pieces of music in history, and we get to listen to a CD.

Chelsey Donn:

Then the usher informed us they were low on program.

Chelsey Donn:

And the three of us would have to share one, not really a problem because the program was pretty

Chelsey Donn:

The 13 principal dancers were very good, not excellent as I would expect a

Chelsey Donn:

The rest of the cast was sad, often unprepared out of sync, just making the moves and often not.

Chelsey Donn:

Well, the Nutcracker was a STUFFED TOY!!!!!

Chelsey Donn:

Seriously draw.

Chelsey Donn:

So Meyer did a poor job of getting hidden characters on and off stage.

Chelsey Donn:

And the entire production was full of local children, probably from area dance studios.

Chelsey Donn:

It was a fiasco.

Chelsey Donn:

If I wanted to see amateur dancers, I'd go to a local dance recital.

Chelsey Donn:

They were poorly rehearsed and made the production seem cheap.

Chelsey Donn:

And second rate, which it really was.

Chelsey Donn:

I paid over a hundred dollars per ticket for three of us after Ticketmaster's ridiculous fees.

Chelsey Donn:

And we would've been overpaying if all three of us had gone for a hundred dollars total.

Chelsey Donn:

This was my first Nutcracker ballet.

Chelsey Donn:

And I had been looking forward to it.

Chelsey Donn:

So very much the Moscow ballet, how could I go wrong?

Chelsey Donn:

Well, it did.

Chelsey Donn:

And it ended up being a complete disappointment.

Chelsey Donn:

It's no wonder half of the seats downstairs were empty.

Chelsey Donn:

Others must have heard about this trip to performances in advance.

Chelsey Donn:

Don't waste your time or money.

VOICEOVER:

Oh, my God.

VOICEOVER:

It's a Karen.

Trey Gerrald:

Wow.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I, when I really got thrown off there when like three fourths of the way through

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

But I think they, they must, I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

I'll have a record or something.

Chelsey Donn:

They seem to know the music.

Trey Gerrald:

Tchaikovsky.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, Well, okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Even when you go to, okay.

Trey Gerrald:

I actually, I cannot speak to, like, I know that when you go to the met opera yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

The ensemble are like hired actors, basically.

Trey Gerrald:

They're not like opera people.

Trey Gerrald:

Sure.

Trey Gerrald:

So like, when you go and see the Nutcracker ballet, Like the chances that

Trey Gerrald:

Sure.

Trey Gerrald:

What's it like that when you saw like the Philly ballet?

Chelsey Donn:

I think so, but I think that's because Philadelphia has like a whole ballet

Trey Gerrald:

company, correct?

Trey Gerrald:

Correct.

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

Cause I don't know about ABT or, you know, I'm sure like the company members are in the back

Chelsey Donn:

sort of similar to an ABT, but like the ABT of Philadelphia, there were, there

Trey Gerrald:

but like, okay.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know anything about the Moscow ballet, but I do know that like many of the

Trey Gerrald:

Where are they seeing this performance?

Trey Gerrald:

Is it in.

Trey Gerrald:

In

Chelsey Donn:

Texas.

Chelsey Donn:

So it seems like it's a tour of the theater, ballet, Moscow.

Chelsey Donn:

So

Trey Gerrald:

are you expecting this tour from Moscow to have 90 performers?

Chelsey Donn:

You mean touring

Trey Gerrald:

with them, but right.

Trey Gerrald:

Like you think like the guy that's playing, like the dancing frog, like in the third act as a

Trey Gerrald:

Like, I, that seems a little odd to me, but I get that NBethS has never seen this and to

Chelsey Donn:

performing.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

There was enough that it was distracting.

Chelsey Donn:

I can see, I mean, I think the hard part is that they paid a hundred dollars a ticket.

Trey Gerrald:

I want to talk about that because it's expensive, especially because

Trey Gerrald:

Then there's all the sets.

Trey Gerrald:

Then there's all like the cost to put on this ballet.

Chelsey Donn:

What do you think of the Nutcracker being a stuffed toy?

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

I wrote that down too.

Trey Gerrald:

That's very odd to me.

Trey Gerrald:

Why was it not a wooden

Trey Gerrald:

- Chelsey Donn: I know!

Trey Gerrald:

nutcracker?

Chelsey Donn:

I thought that, or like an actor playing the Nutcracker.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, doesn't he come?

Trey Gerrald:

Doesn't the Nutcracker come to life?

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah,

Trey Gerrald:

At some point

Chelsey Donn:

I think so.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, I mean, I don't remember guys.

Chelsey Donn:

I haven't seen it since I was a kid, but

Chelsey Donn:

- Trey Gerrald: Isn't there like a

Chelsey Donn:

- Chelsey Donn: Yeah, like

Trey Gerrald:

into real things?

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah!

Trey Gerrald:

So I feel like it usually starts with like a prop.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

And ends with a person.

Trey Gerrald:

What, see, was Clara a Russian or what's Clara like a local seven-year-old?

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

I think according to this, they're suggesting that it was.

Chelsey Donn:

It was a local seven-year-old, which does make me wonder if you're right.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, that makes sense.

Chelsey Donn:

If it's a very large cast, maybe they can't fly everybody in and they do need some locals.

Chelsey Donn:

And that would make me wonder like each city that they go to, they have locals.

Chelsey Donn:

So like if there aren't, the locals in Texas are not that great, but the

Chelsey Donn:

You know, are you getting a different performance or is it just that they're hiring locals?

Chelsey Donn:

Like they're hiring people from the US?

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah, I'm very confused by this because I would imagine, does, so I

Trey Gerrald:

So I'm assuming this is, she saw this in Fort worth.

Trey Gerrald:

I just, I think that if you are a ballet company, Like, if you're a ballet theater,

Trey Gerrald:

So it's con it's interesting to me that you would see a touring production of the

Trey Gerrald:

I would imagine.

Trey Gerrald:

So then are the kids like in a, like, I'm very perplexed by this?

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Then someone has to train the, the ensembleypeople.

Trey Gerrald:

Like how did

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know, I mean, I guess I, I did appreciate that.

Chelsey Donn:

They said that the 13 principal dancers were very good.

Chelsey Donn:

I thought it was funny.

Chelsey Donn:

I said, they're not excellent as they would expect a Russian ballet troupe

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, at least they, at least they gave a little bit of credit.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause from the rest of the Review!

Chelsey Donn:

you would think that everything was terrible.

Chelsey Donn:

But yeah, I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

I think that it's possible that NBethS has high expectations and that their assessment

Chelsey Donn:

Like maybe they're, they're sort of a, a glass, half empty kind of person where.

Chelsey Donn:

You know, 50, 60% of the show is great and you know, 40, whatever 50 is bad, then

Chelsey Donn:

But

Trey Gerrald:

I think what's coming up for me here is like, I appreciate that.

Trey Gerrald:

N Beth S really wanted to see the Nutcracker for the material.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

But it does occur to me.

Trey Gerrald:

if you're going to the Nutcracker ballet, it's not going to be about the music.

Trey Gerrald:

It's going to be about the dancer.

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

So to me seeing that it's like canned orchestra.

Trey Gerrald:

Sure.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, not the most ideal, but like, you're going to see the Moscow ballet company.

Trey Gerrald:

So to me I'm sort of like, okay, fine, like disappointing, but sure.

Trey Gerrald:

Also it sort of.

Trey Gerrald:

If you are that much of a purist, like, why are you going to the Nutcracker?

Trey Gerrald:

It's like, it's like going to see like The Lion King on Broadway.

Trey Gerrald:

It's like the lowest denominator for like the greatest of that art form.

Trey Gerrald:

Not to say that The Lion King is bad.

Trey Gerrald:

Not to say that the Nutcracker is bad, but like, you know, it is the piece that exists

Trey Gerrald:

So to be snobby about it kind of makes me annoyed.

Trey Gerrald:

I get the price I get that it's expensive.

Trey Gerrald:

And you felt that it was subpar, but

Chelsey Donn:

like, oh, I think that's an interesting point.

Chelsey Donn:

I didn't really think about it that way, but I think there is a certain amount of forgiveness

Chelsey Donn:

That was like that that's like a note, but like, you know, it is supposed to be holiday

Trey Gerrald:

I do want to talk about these ticketmaster fees.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God.

Chelsey Donn:

They're ridiculous.

Trey Gerrald:

What I mean, I understand that Ticketmaster has to make their own money

Trey Gerrald:

How much money just goes to the fees,

Chelsey Donn:

and the fees can be quite pricey.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So do we think that this is a valuable Review?

Trey Gerrald:

To me, I find value.

Trey Gerrald:

I, I might have a different judgment call then NBethS but it is interesting

Trey Gerrald:

I think that's such a like shady thing to point out, but no, but facts are facts.

Chelsey Donn:

I know there was a lot of caps abuse.

Chelsey Donn:

Uh, I'm assuming you could tell in my reading a lot of punctuation abuse happening

Trey Gerrald:

Interesting.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm not anti caps.

Chelsey Donn:

I think it can be fun and it sort of makes things pop.

Chelsey Donn:

So I'm not against it.

Chelsey Donn:

But in this case I did feel like it was overused

Trey Gerrald:

Do you think NBethS is like aformer ballet person who wasn't hired at Moscow.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't think so.

Chelsey Donn:

I think similar to other reviews you had, this is a case of, you know, preference.

Chelsey Donn:

And am I a hundred percent confident that everybody else who sees

Chelsey Donn:

No, I'm not.

Chelsey Donn:

But I do think that N Beth S is being honest and I believe them.

Trey Gerrald:

I agree.

Trey Gerrald:

Which then, is this common.

Trey Gerrald:

It was like just going to be a temp, typical experience.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, I, I would imagine that to me, I don't know if I'm viewing this wrong, but to me, I just

Chelsey Donn:

I hear you there, there are certain elements that they identified for me, like the CD.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, not so much that they used a prerecording because yeah, we can't necessarily

Chelsey Donn:

So that's a little bit like, Ugh, I don't know if I'd want to deal with that for however many hours.

Chelsey Donn:

And also like the stuffed toy.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, there are things that they're dropping along the way that I feel like,

Chelsey Donn:

It might be indicative that the quality of the show isn't that great.

Trey Gerrald:

Same with like the amateurish children ensemble.

Trey Gerrald:

Like, I think that's sort of difficult to not notice that when people are moving

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, not that we want to like eliminate the kids, but it almost seems like

Chelsey Donn:

And like truncated the, the size of the ensemble, just to, to maintain the integrity of the show.

Chelsey Donn:

Like I wonder if everybody was at the caliber of these 13 principal dancers, if,

Chelsey Donn:

right.

Chelsey Donn:

Because they are saying they're good, but not excellent.

Chelsey Donn:

Maybe they would have given it like a three-star still, I don't think that

Chelsey Donn:

I'm not confident that end Beth S would have given a high Review!.

Trey Gerrald:

I do really like having a program.

Trey Gerrald:

And I, I really don't like when they're chintzy with that, um,

Chelsey Donn:

chintzy with the programs or chintzy with the info in the program?

Trey Gerrald:

Chintzy with handing them out.

Trey Gerrald:

That bothers me.

Trey Gerrald:

It makes me feel like I'm not a priority.

Chelsey Donn:

Do we feel armed?

Trey Gerrald:

I think so.

Trey Gerrald:

I think I could crown this.

Trey Gerrald:

What are you thinking on this?

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

So Chelsey and I each have our own set of one to five crown cards and in an effort to

VOICEOVER:

The Queens are tabulating!

Trey Gerrald:

Are you ready?

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

VOICEOVER:

Total Score!

VOICEOVER:

Wow, Trey.

VOICEOVER:

That's that's surprising to me.

VOICEOVER:

Trey's holding up four crowds.

VOICEOVER:

I'm holding up three grounds.

VOICEOVER:

Sorry.

VOICEOVER:

My screen is blurry.

VOICEOVER:

So try, let us know why you gave NBethS four crowns.

Trey Gerrald:

I gave NBethS four crowns because while I might not agree with their point of view

Trey Gerrald:

Yes, I do think that it's important to note that attendance is low.

Trey Gerrald:

Not that that necessarily means that.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't really know what N Beth S is experience with ballet and the art form is

Trey Gerrald:

So I know that there was a lots of like spelling and grammar stuff, which I didn't actually see.

Trey Gerrald:

So to me, the impact here is like, let me research.

Trey Gerrald:

Is another performance by someone else that has live music.

Trey Gerrald:

If that is that important to me.

Trey Gerrald:

So for that reason I gave it four.

Trey Gerrald:

Cause I think it would make me question purchasing the tickets.

Trey Gerrald:

What about you?

Trey Gerrald:

Why did you do three?

Chelsey Donn:

I did three for all the same reasons that you just mentioned, but I, I think

Chelsey Donn:

Excellent comment.

Chelsey Donn:

There, there was something in that assessment of, they were very good, but not excellent.

Chelsey Donn:

That felt a little bit.

Chelsey Donn:

Let's just give the Moscow ballet, nutcracker west cast a nod without having

Chelsey Donn:

So for that reason, I decided that I needed to give NBethS three crowns.

Trey Gerrald:

I love it.

Trey Gerrald:

I feel like I'm, my chestnuts are roasting on an open fire.

Chelsey Donn:

Mine too.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, if I had them.

VOICEOVER:

There's A Reply!

Trey Gerrald:

OMG there's a reply.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh my God.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Now the reply is from, uh, it's kind of written in Russian, but Ballet Mosque vol, and then

Chelsey Donn:

Um, and.

Chelsey Donn:

Dear NBethS, I'm sorry to tell you that Moscow ballet, the Nutcracker west cast

Chelsey Donn:

And they inserted a link.

Chelsey Donn:

Our company didn't tour in the USA in 2013 and 2012, the art director of the company Nikolay

Chelsey Donn:

And since that time, the theater has changed a lot.

Chelsey Donn:

We do not tour abroad at the moment because we changed the repertoire

Trey Gerrald:

Now I'm confused because.

Trey Gerrald:

So they're stating the Review is for the wrong organization?

Chelsey Donn:

That's what I thought at first.

Chelsey Donn:

And then my like shade Dar started to go off a little bit for a couple reasons.

Chelsey Donn:

So they're saying that they didn't tour in the U S in 2013, which is when, um, this Review!

Chelsey Donn:

was written, but it seems like they did tour.

Chelsey Donn:

Other times, they also talk about somebody that got fired.

Chelsey Donn:

And that to me implies little, is he getting fired because he was doing a bad job and

Trey Gerrald:

That's what I was going to say to you is that it feels like

Trey Gerrald:

They've denied that this was their company.

Trey Gerrald:

And then they're explaining that their company has had a whole change of things going on.

Trey Gerrald:

So that's why I was like, wait,

Chelsey Donn:

and then the other thing that made me go, Hmm, was that NBethS in there, Review!

Chelsey Donn:

mentioned that the program was full of merchandise and they mentioned the pro the like

Chelsey Donn:

So just makes me feel like if there was lots of merchandise, it was probably, I would

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know that this reply makes me like a hundred percent sure

Chelsey Donn:

This reply makes me think.

Chelsey Donn:

We licensed our name to somebody else for purposes of a tour.

Chelsey Donn:

And then we realized that the caliber didn't meet the caliber of our local Russian ballet.

Chelsey Donn:

And we pulled back.

Chelsey Donn:

That's what I think.

Trey Gerrald:

Can you read the two names that are being spoken off?

Trey Gerrald:

Uh,

Chelsey Donn:

oh yes.

Chelsey Donn:

So the, the way that it's listed in the Review!

Chelsey Donn:

now it is a review of the ballet Moscow.

Chelsey Donn:

So there, there, there might be a world in which Moscow ballet, the Nutcracker west.

Chelsey Donn:

Is sort of a step sibling, like an

Trey Gerrald:

umbrella

Chelsey Donn:

company, correct.

Chelsey Donn:

Of theater, Bali, mosque out.

Chelsey Donn:

And because this review is dragging down the average of theater, ballet,

Chelsey Donn:

I have no doubt about that.

Chelsey Donn:

they wanted to make it clear to anybody that is reading this.

Chelsey Donn:

Review!

Chelsey Donn:

that's thinking about going in Moscow or whatever that this is not, we're not affiliated

Trey Gerrald:

theater.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know how this makes me feel.

Trey Gerrald:

It makes me feel more confused.

Trey Gerrald:

And it just makes me want to say support your local artists just

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, I think that's a good point.

Trey Gerrald:

It's interesting.

Trey Gerrald:

It doesn't make me feel swayed.

Trey Gerrald:

It makes me feel more.

Trey Gerrald:

I shouldn't even attempt to see the thing.

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

Chelsey Donn:

Well, that's, I, I feel like it's, it's just coded in a way that it's

Chelsey Donn:

We're different now, you know?

Chelsey Donn:

Anyway, I thought that was interesting.

Chelsey Donn:

I was excited to read the reply because usually the replies are, are very

Chelsey Donn:

Or like, please, you know, email us at this address so that we can make it right.

Chelsey Donn:

Or whatever it is.

Chelsey Donn:

But this I've never read a reply like this before.

Chelsey Donn:

Anyway, that's it.

Trey Gerrald:

Good job.

Trey Gerrald:

Very fun.

Chelsey Donn:

Thank you.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

So let's take a quick break.

Chelsey Donn:

And when we come back, we can get into RQ T's Review!.

Trey Gerrald:

Woo.

Trey Gerrald:

Love that.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

BRB.

VOICEOVER:

Hold your crown.

VOICEOVER:

We'll be right back.

Trey Gerrald:

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey let's play One-Star-Zinger is on the Meryl-Go-Round

Trey Gerrald:

' VOICEOVER: I don't feel like an icon..

Trey Gerrald:

Most of the days, I feel like I can't.

Trey Gerrald:

That's with an A!"

Chelsey Donn:

Trey and I have each picked a rotten scathing, pithy One-Star-Zinger and

Trey Gerrald:

Just the queen Meryl, who does it all

Chelsey Donn:

before the clock runs out.

Chelsey Donn:

Alright Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

Where is your One-Star-Zinger from today?

Trey Gerrald:

Okay today I have a One-Star-Zinger from amazon.com.

Trey Gerrald:

This is written by Tracy L.

Trey Gerrald:

And this is for the children's book, entitled Santa's Husband.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, kinda like kinda like Hanukkah, mommy and Santa's daddy or whatever.

Trey Gerrald:

Sure.

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

I imagine this a companion piece.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, the book is written by Daniel Kibblesmith and it is imagining that Santa

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, okay.

Trey Gerrald:

And I have not read the book, but the cover of the book, Mr.

Trey Gerrald:

Claus is a person of color.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So Tracy L'ss, one star, Amazon review's, subject is Santa is married to a woman

Trey Gerrald:

Isn't gay or black.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh my God.

Trey Gerrald:

Santa Claus.

Trey Gerrald:

Isn't real.

Trey Gerrald:

Santa Claus is a fake character.

Chelsey Donn:

Why can't Santa Claus be gay and black?.

Trey Gerrald:

And so Tracy L Santa Claus, isn't gay or black.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Sorry, Tracy.

Chelsey Donn:

Trying to diversify.

Chelsey Donn:

Geez, Louise.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

I think today you're going to be strapped into Blitzin.

Chelsey Donn:

Why Blitzin?

Chelsey Donn:

Because Rudolph always gets all the attention.

Chelsey Donn:

Got to spread it out a little bit.

Chelsey Donn:

Rudolph is not the only reindeer in Santa's arsenal.

Chelsey Donn:

So you're strapped into blitz in.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm going to give blitz and a carrot and I am ready.

Chelsey Donn:

All right, let's do it.

VOICEOVER:

3 2 1, GO!

VOICEOVER:

Disaster

VOICEOVER:

Santa Claus or black Yankee

VOICEOVER:

Santa Claus.

VOICEOVER:

Isn't gay or black.

VOICEOVER:

Melodrama

VOICEOVER:

lifetime

VOICEOVER:

Southern calls.

VOICEOVER:

Ain't

Chelsey Donn:

really good.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, thank you.

Trey Gerrald:

I must have had a lifetime of ignorance around me in order to really embody that.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

How many with that?

Trey Gerrald:

Excellent queen.

Trey Gerrald:

All right, my queen.

Trey Gerrald:

What about you?

Trey Gerrald:

What is your One-Star-Zinger for today?

Trey Gerrald:

Plus his

Chelsey Donn:

for today?

Chelsey Donn:

My One-Star-Zinger is for Christmas lights, I guess I'll say the whole

Chelsey Donn:

This is your view from Amazon for.

Chelsey Donn:

C nine Christmas string lights, outdoor indoor extendable, 50 led 49 feet waterproof green wire

VOICEOVER:

Its supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Chelsey Donn:

I was going to say, should my R sound cutest be like, is this title going to

Chelsey Donn:

infuriate me?

Chelsey Donn:

Well, they got all their bases covered.

Chelsey Donn:

Exactly.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

So this, review is written by Patricia.

Chelsey Donn:

It is obviously a one-star review.

Chelsey Donn:

The subject is they are not bright at all, and the Review!

Chelsey Donn:

is returning them.

Chelsey Donn:

They are so dim.

Chelsey Donn:

It's ridiculous.

Trey Gerrald:

That's really funny.

Trey Gerrald:

Alright, so I'm gonna strap you into Donner!

Trey Gerrald:

Yea next to each other

Chelsey Donn:

and also Chelsey Donn.

Chelsey Donn:

Hello?

Trey Gerrald:

Oh my gosh.

Trey Gerrald:

And the Donner party.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, let's not affiliate my people with those people whom we

Trey Gerrald:

thought.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm glad you cleared that up.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

So, oh my God.

Trey Gerrald:

And you talked about sneezing while eating.

Trey Gerrald:

What does that have to

Chelsey Donn:

was that I didn't

Trey Gerrald:

see each other.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Good.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

So you're strapped into Donner and, um, all right, let's go.

Trey Gerrald:

You ready?

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm ready.

VOICEOVER:

3, 2, 1, GO!

VOICEOVER:

Adult film,

VOICEOVER:

opera

VOICEOVER:

diva.

VOICEOVER:

We're hurting them.

VOICEOVER:

They're so Tim let's retake musical theater, but turn

VOICEOVER:

them

VOICEOVER:

game, show

VOICEOVER:

magic show.

VOICEOVER:

We're tearing them.

VOICEOVER:

They're so dead.

VOICEOVER:

It's ridiculous.

VOICEOVER:

Disney.

Trey Gerrald:

I love that.

Trey Gerrald:

Your Disney's always like a chipmunk

Chelsey Donn:

yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

It's it's it's Mickey.

Chelsey Donn:

Chipmunk.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

You got six.

Trey Gerrald:

Very good Queen.

Chelsey Donn:

Thank you.

Chelsey Donn:

That was fun.

VOICEOVER:

Review That Review.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

We're back from that rousing game break.

Chelsey Donn:

And it's your turn Trey.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

So today I have a one star review from Yelp also written by a Tracy.

Trey Gerrald:

Whoa.

Trey Gerrald:

I didn't realize that.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, wait.

Trey Gerrald:

It's also Tracy L okay.

Trey Gerrald:

That's weird.

Chelsey Donn:

Was your zinger also TracyL?

Trey Gerrald:

Yes!

Trey Gerrald:

Very weird.

Trey Gerrald:

And I didn't realize that until this very moment.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh my goodness.

Trey Gerrald:

But I think it's, um, I don't think it's the centrist yet.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Once this is one star review, written by Tracy L on Yelp for that's weird.

Trey Gerrald:

Very weird.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

The Christmas Tree Shop.

Chelsey Donn:

I really liked the Christmas Tree Shop.

Trey Gerrald:

I've never been.

Chelsey Donn:

I've been many a time.

Trey Gerrald:

So this is specific to I'm S I'm kind of, I kind of don't want to say the city.

Trey Gerrald:

So I'm just going to say in New Jersey.

Chelsey Donn:

Great.

Trey Gerrald:

Horrible place of business!

Trey Gerrald:

Managers do not care at all about employees.

Trey Gerrald:

They talk down to them and treat them like absolute garbage.

Trey Gerrald:

It's disgusting.

Trey Gerrald:

The store manager, Linda, has no idea how to run a business and has absolutely no class!

Trey Gerrald:

During their morning meetings.

Trey Gerrald:

She would constantly yell at employees.

Trey Gerrald:

Very nasty woman.

Trey Gerrald:

There have been men hate H times where I've seen several managers talk to the employees

Trey Gerrald:

The store is almost always a mess.

Trey Gerrald:

Filthy.

Trey Gerrald:

The products are of terrible quality.

Trey Gerrald:

They have sometime called and as is section, which is basically them trying

Trey Gerrald:

The store is disgusting.

Trey Gerrald:

I recently saw not one, but two customers approach, customer service, having cut their hands

Trey Gerrald:

And all the only thing they did for those customers was clean up their cuts and

Trey Gerrald:

What kind of business is this horrible, horrible, horrible will never step foot in that store.

Trey Gerrald:

Again, you can get better quality products for similar prices, anywhere

Trey Gerrald:

Starting with the disgrace of managers they have there.

Chelsey Donn:

Wow, Tracy L not to be confused with Tracy L you know what I mean?

Trey Gerrald:

So I thought this Review!

Trey Gerrald:

was interesting because I think this might be our first example

Chelsey Donn:

of a former employee,

Trey Gerrald:

of a former employee.

Chelsey Donn:

Good job, Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

I haven't come across anything like this.

Chelsey Donn:

Like this is one of those reviews on Yelp, where if anybody went on Yelp and did like

Chelsey Donn:

I think that this would be like gone in a second because there's so much evidence here.

Chelsey Donn:

What's really funny to me is if this is not an employee...

Trey Gerrald:

then they must've been in that store all the time.

Chelsey Donn:

Like how much are you hanging out?

Chelsey Donn:

Like, what are you doing?

Chelsey Donn:

Are you, are you filming a documentary about the Christmas tree shop?

Chelsey Donn:

Like,

Chelsey Donn:

well,

Trey Gerrald:

it ha no, they, they reveal their hand because they say during their morning

Trey Gerrald:

So like, you have to be an employee to be in the morning.

Chelsey Donn:

I guess, unless again, you're like lurking in the corner.

Chelsey Donn:

I, it just doesn't make any sense to me that they would give so, so much blatant, like the meeting

Chelsey Donn:

It's like, were they doing that?

Chelsey Donn:

Because, because they signed some sort of, you know, agreement.

Chelsey Donn:

So they're going by, they stole Tracy L's name and they've written this Review!

Chelsey Donn:

to try to be anonymous?

Trey Gerrald:

Do you think that the Christmas Tree Shop has an NDA for their employees?

Chelsey Donn:

I just I'm, I'm questioning Tracy L here, because honestly, with

Chelsey Donn:

I would have preferred that they say, listen, I used to work at the store.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

And I know firsthand how terrible it is.

Chelsey Donn:

You can say I'm a disgruntled employee or whatever it is.

Chelsey Donn:

But here are the things that I personally saw while spending time in the store

Trey Gerrald:

It is interesting.

Trey Gerrald:

They don't self identify.

Trey Gerrald:

Otherwise I would think that this would go on like Glassdoor or like, because

Trey Gerrald:

It's dangerous.

Chelsey Donn:

They know about the band-aid incident.

Chelsey Donn:

They, they just know too much.

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

So then, okay, so then is it valuable because you want to patronize a store

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, Chick-fil-A cares about their employees.

Trey Gerrald:

I'll never step foot in there.

Chelsey Donn:

Right?

Chelsey Donn:

I'm going to say no, I just, I don't trust Tracy L.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know what their agenda is.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

the circumstance under which they were fired or left working this store.

Chelsey Donn:

I do know that they, they just feel a little bit shady and a little bit almost unhinged,

Chelsey Donn:

What what's happening here.

Chelsey Donn:

It feel it's, it's almost an episode.

Trey Gerrald:

It's interesting that they say they will never step foot in the store.

Trey Gerrald:

Again.

Trey Gerrald:

I wonder if they were fired.

Trey Gerrald:

Do you think Linda fired them?

Chelsey Donn:

You know what I think, I think there was a really bad morning meeting and Linda just

Chelsey Donn:

And she took off her Christmas Tree Shops, smock and walked out the door.

Chelsey Donn:

That's what I think.

Trey Gerrald:

I bet someone cut their hand and they went to Tracy for coupons

Trey Gerrald:

And then Tracy brought it up in the meeting and Tracy fired her.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, the grammar!

Trey Gerrald:

I was just going to say, I, I.

Trey Gerrald:

It is...

Chelsey Donn:

we could hardly get through it.

Trey Gerrald:

They, they say shelve S H E L V E.

Trey Gerrald:

So it's not shelf or shelves also.

Trey Gerrald:

Like there's multiple run-on sentences.

Trey Gerrald:

It was very confusing.

Trey Gerrald:

Do you, so do we, I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

Do we think that tracy is being truthful?

Trey Gerrald:

I think that Tracy is, I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

I do believe that it probably is dirty and I do believe that like maybe the quality

Trey Gerrald:

It's like, I've never been in a store, so you like it.

Chelsey Donn:

I like Christmas tree shop.

Chelsey Donn:

It's sort of a misleading name for what it is.

Chelsey Donn:

It does have a Christmas vibe to it, but it's an all year round store and it's a discount store.

Chelsey Donn:

Like they have a ton of, it's sort of like a Ross or a TJ Maxx except it's new products.

Trey Gerrald:

Interesting.

Chelsey Donn:

Not that they're not new products at those stores, but I'm just saying it's,

Chelsey Donn:

And it is, you know, kind of cheaper stuff.

Chelsey Donn:

Let's say you were going to throw a party or something like that.

Chelsey Donn:

And you wanted to get like a Punchbowl, but also like cute napkins for your thing.

Chelsey Donn:

And maybe a cheeseboard, like if you wanted sort of a variety and then also maybe a cozy blanket.

Chelsey Donn:

Sure.

Chelsey Donn:

Why not a variety of items you could go to the Christmas, Christmas tree shop.

Chelsey Donn:

And the reason I think in my mind, I compare it to a TJ Maxx or Ross.

Chelsey Donn:

It's almost like an outing, you know, like when you're just like, I need something to do,

Chelsey Donn:

I bet I'll find something that I could use.

Chelsey Donn:

And it's cheap enough where it's like good retail therapy, if that makes sense.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

So do we think that if Tracy, I was a former employee, do you think

Trey Gerrald:

I mean, none of it matters to me.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm not going to apply there.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

But, but, but that being said, Trey, beyond the apply there.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, which I guess is implied because they're saying management is terrible.

Chelsey Donn:

They're not telling us they worked here.

Chelsey Donn:

They're presenting this Review!

Chelsey Donn:

as if, I mean, though, of course they're giving it all away, but they're giving

Trey Gerrald:

That is true.

Trey Gerrald:

Why do they not just say that they have a preface?

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, was it humorous?

Chelsey Donn:

No.

Trey Gerrald:

No.

Chelsey Donn:

It wasn't humorous.

Trey Gerrald:

Would you hang us on your fridge?

Chelsey Donn:

I wouldn't, I wouldn't hang in on my fridge.

Chelsey Donn:

With a pretty

Trey Gerrald:

bow and like magnet from the Christmas tree shop,

Chelsey Donn:

I would buy the pretty bow magnet, but I don't think I would use it to hang up.

Chelsey Donn:

Tracy l's review.

Trey Gerrald:

So before we crown, you should know that two people have found this useful.

Trey Gerrald:

Also I can see Tracey L has only written two Review!

Trey Gerrald:

Tracy, Tracy just made this account, but that's not their name.

Chelsey Donn:

You don't need to be a detective to figure this one out.

Chelsey Donn:

You know what I mean?

Trey Gerrald:

I bet her name is Lacey and her last name starts with a T.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

So this is really Lacey T writing under the pseudonym.

Chelsey Donn:

Tracy L they're

Trey Gerrald:

obviously not very good at cloaking the truth.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

I could crown this.

Trey Gerrald:

What do you think?

Chelsey Donn:

I can crown this.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

Let's crown it

VOICEOVER:

The Queens are Tabulating.

Trey Gerrald:

[laughing]

Chelsey Donn:

What?

Trey Gerrald:

Are you ready?

Chelsey Donn:

I'm ready.

VOICEOVER:

Total score!

Chelsey Donn:

I'm holding a one crown and Trey is holding up a half crown.

Chelsey Donn:

I gave the one crown because all right, maybe it, maybe it's dusty.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't love the idea of a place abusing their staff.

Chelsey Donn:

And for that, I'll give it the one crown.

Chelsey Donn:

But my one crown is very suspicious because I don't trust Tracy L

Chelsey Donn:

I know if I were online and I were looking at reviews, I would immediately think

Chelsey Donn:

There's no way I could have a full stop after this Review!

Chelsey Donn:

and say, no, I'm not going to the Christmas tree shop.

Chelsey Donn:

So for that reason, I didn't think that Tracy L deserved more than a crown.

Chelsey Donn:

Why did you cut your crown in half, Trey?

Trey Gerrald:

Everything that you just said, ultimately, I'm not coming to Yelp

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

It colors my opinion, but other than it might be dirty and low quality products, which I

Trey Gerrald:

There's nothing to learn here because.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't trust the narrator.

Trey Gerrald:

And so that's why I gave half a crown and the spelling, good Lord.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh yeah, you're right.

Chelsey Donn:

Should have taken another half crown off for that spelling.

Chelsey Donn:

Anyway.

Trey Gerrald:

Sorry Lacey.

Chelsey Donn:

Sorry, Lacey T!

Chelsey Donn:

Good review, Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

I really, I enjoyed that.

Trey Gerrald:

Um, all right.

Trey Gerrald:

My Queen.

Trey Gerrald:

So I think that we have reached the most Regal portion of the show.

Trey Gerrald:

Who are you inducting today for

VOICEOVER:

My Royal highness.

Chelsey Donn:

Thank you so much for asking.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey.

Trey Gerrald:

You're welcome.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

My Royal Highness today, I think is very important and I I'm, I'm not going to get full clamped.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm going to, I'm going to try not to get for the cleanse.

Chelsey Donn:

When I do this, I'm going to give My Royal Highness.

Chelsey Donn:

To Jonathan Larson.

Chelsey Donn:

And if you're listening and you don't know who Jonathan Larson is, Jonathan

Chelsey Donn:

It's obviously incredible.

Chelsey Donn:

It's been running for years and there's tons of people that are the biggest fans of the show.

Chelsey Donn:

And Jonathan Larson is an epic artist and he passed away at 35 way way before his prime.

Chelsey Donn:

And perhaps the most tragic element of his passing was that he actually passed away the night of

Chelsey Donn:

So he never got to see the success that Rent became.

Chelsey Donn:

And

Trey Gerrald:

I just want to interject.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah,

Trey Gerrald:

it would be as if Lin-Manuel Miranda died.

Trey Gerrald:

The day of the first preview of the off-Broadway run of Hamilton, correct.

Trey Gerrald:

Never getting to see the phenomenon and ultimately the course change that Rent

Trey Gerrald:

It has never been the same since Rent.

Chelsey Donn:

Never.

Chelsey Donn:

And that's a really good analogy.

Chelsey Donn:

I think for people who don't understand and who, who weren't so involved with, like

Chelsey Donn:

Very young age and you know, this past week I watched Tick Tick Boom on Netflix,

Chelsey Donn:

It's so good.

Chelsey Donn:

If you have even like a shred of empathy, please bring a pack of tissues with you because I was

Chelsey Donn:

And first of all, he, uh, Jonathan Larson, I should point out also wrote tick, tick, boom.

Chelsey Donn:

And besides the fact that it's such an epic show, it really Chronicles Jonathan's life and beyond

Chelsey Donn:

We want to do something that is bigger than, than us.

Chelsey Donn:

We feel we're meant to express ourselves in a certain way, and we don't always get to do that.

Chelsey Donn:

And we don't always get to make the money that we want to, that we want to

Chelsey Donn:

Knowingness that this is what we're meant to do with our lives.

Chelsey Donn:

And watching Jonathan go through this experience and live his whole life as if he's running

Chelsey Donn:

But what was so beautiful is that he managed to do it.

Chelsey Donn:

He did get it in.

Chelsey Donn:

He got in right under the wire and he has his work that he shared with all

Chelsey Donn:

So, uh, I'm so full clamped.

Chelsey Donn:

I love you, Jonathan Larson.

Chelsey Donn:

I wish I got to know you personally, and I'm so sorry that the world was deprived of you,

Chelsey Donn:

Thank you, Jonathan Larson.

Trey Gerrald:

It's very interesting.

Trey Gerrald:

I just have to like interject here I am someone who never saw Rent on Broadway.

Trey Gerrald:

I saw like the recorded final performance, but I never sat at the Nederlander theater and saw it.

Trey Gerrald:

And it wasn't my thing.

Trey Gerrald:

I was in love with miss Saigon.

Trey Gerrald:

I was in love with Les Miz, but my friend from preschool, Rachel Broadwell, who's a listener.

Trey Gerrald:

She gave me the cast recording to tick tick, boom.

Trey Gerrald:

And I was, obsessed.

Trey Gerrald:

I may be a unique person in the fact that like, I could sing you the entire

Trey Gerrald:

And I can, I only know the highlights of Rent and I have, when I saw Rent Live, when they did

Trey Gerrald:

Because he died before he died in the preview.

Trey Gerrald:

Like that's like the heartbeat of the most amount of work and tweaking and changing that happens.

Trey Gerrald:

So that's just a random consideration.

Trey Gerrald:

And then also it is interesting to note that tick tick boom was based

Trey Gerrald:

So the numbers and some of the banter and patter, when he passed away, I believe it was

Trey Gerrald:

And, and, and there are videos on YouTube where he was literally doing

Chelsey Donn:

And that was how the movie made it seem.

Chelsey Donn:

They really did a good job.

Chelsey Donn:

Have you not seen it?

Chelsey Donn:

It's epic and they did really make it seem like that.

Chelsey Donn:

So that, that is interesting to know.

Chelsey Donn:

Come to your senses, which is a song from tick tick boom used to be one of my, like

Trey Gerrald:

I'm embarrassed to tell you that it was one of mine.

Chelsey Donn:

Stop!

Chelsey Donn:

Are you kidding?!

Trey Gerrald:

I had it in my book.

Trey Gerrald:

So embarrassing.

Chelsey Donn:

What a connection.

Chelsey Donn:

That's amazing.

Chelsey Donn:

Ooh.

Chelsey Donn:

I feel heavy.

Chelsey Donn:

Like Nita, get a breath out.

Chelsey Donn:

I really do feel the clumped.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Tell us, trey.

Chelsey Donn:

Who are you inducting for your Royal Highness.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm going to induct the Bad Christmas Movie Bingo Game.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

So let me tell you about that.

Trey Gerrald:

So my husband has a coworker colleague named Kiwi Callahan and Kiwi, and her

Trey Gerrald:

Wow.

Trey Gerrald:

So it's, it's bad Christmas movie, bingo.

Trey Gerrald:

And what it is while like lifetime, or hallmark movies are going and

Trey Gerrald:

And so you're watching like a honky-tonk Christmas in Nashville, and everyone has

Trey Gerrald:

So just for example, so then you're trying to get bingo.

Trey Gerrald:

So some of them are, this is one of the random cards.

Trey Gerrald:

They all have different things.

Trey Gerrald:

This one is clearly filmed in summer, picking out a Christmas tree together, holding a

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, look a small town, a widow or widower.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God.

Chelsey Donn:

That's so true.

Trey Gerrald:

The wacky older character.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Quirky Inn or bed and breakfast.

Trey Gerrald:

Anyway, it's so hilarious.

Trey Gerrald:

They created this a couple of years ago, you can go to badchristmasmoviebingo.com to buy it.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm gonna buy it.

Chelsey Donn:

I have a friend that I know will love this.

Trey Gerrald:

It's so good.

Trey Gerrald:

It's so funny.

Trey Gerrald:

You should get it because this really has helped with like the Christmas, what are we going to do?

Trey Gerrald:

And we've already eaten, like, it's like where we've opened the presents and it's like,

Trey Gerrald:

And just like the activity of trying to beat everyone, um, with the cliches of those

Trey Gerrald:

So that's why I'm inducting Bad Christmas Movie Bingo by Kiwi and Matt Callahan.

Trey Gerrald:

You are My Royal Highness.

Chelsey Donn:

Love that can't wait to buy it also like thank you.

Chelsey Donn:

Cause there was someone my Christmas list that I didn't know what to get

Chelsey Donn:

So yay for that.

Trey Gerrald:

And I've never met Kiwi.

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know Matt.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm not inducting them because I know them.

Trey Gerrald:

David knows them, which is why he got it to support them.

Trey Gerrald:

And it's like a lifesaver with family drama in my family.

Trey Gerrald:

So.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

That's it.

Trey Gerrald:

Merry Christmas, Chelsey.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey Gerrald:
