In the theme of giving thanks, Chelsey and I are very excited

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God, yay, the day has come.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm so excited.

Chelsey Donn:

Are we going to do a drum roll?

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah, I can't find the sound cue.

Chelsey Donn:

We could do it ourselves.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

And

Trey Gerrald:

... Chelsey Donn: And the winner is

Trey Gerrald:

Trey Gerrald:

We're so excited, thank you Deb for being a part of our mailing list, if you are

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey did tease this last week.

Chelsey Donn:

I did.

Trey Gerrald:

We're going to be giving away free psychic tarot readings from Chelsey's dog Goldie.

Trey Gerrald:

You can follow on TikTok @thePsychicDog.

Chelsey Donn:

She gives such good readings you guys, I know it sounds crazy but I've

Trey Gerrald:

Look at that.

Chelsey Donn:

It's a good gift, just saying.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, in all of this gratitude-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

I think it's time for us to do a very special themed-

VOICEOVER:

Lodge A Complaint.

Trey Gerrald:

Session.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Chelsey, you have anything you want to lodge a complaint about?

Chelsey Donn:

Listen, here's the deal, isn't it like Thanksgiving

Chelsey Donn:

... Trey Gerrald: Tomorrow.

Chelsey Donn:

So I feel like I'm not going to lodge a complaint this week.

Chelsey Donn:

Even though we know I have many complaints to lodge.

Chelsey Donn:

But I'm going to have a moment of gratitude instead, is that okay with you?

Trey Gerrald:

Yes, I love this.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay thank you.

Chelsey Donn:

I want to give gratitude to the Calm commercials.

Trey Gerrald:

Hm.

Chelsey Donn:

Do you know those, that Calm app?

Trey Gerrald:

Yes!

Trey Gerrald:

Oh wait-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Like on Instagram?

Trey Gerrald:

Like the ads-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, like anywhere it's like the ads, exactly.

Chelsey Donn:

Like even if you're like watching a you know, I don't know, a show on Hulu and you don't pay

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Or whatever it is and it or, and it has this little visual that goes around

Chelsey Donn:

I think it's amazing, it's, genius whoever thought about this, it's so simple

Chelsey Donn:

It's adding to my day, like how many commercials do you watch where you can say

Chelsey Donn:

Like ... Calm app commercials.

Trey Gerrald:

I've actually downloaded the Calm app because of the ads

Chelsey Donn:

That's like, I want to know who was the marketing person that came up

Chelsey Donn:

I feel like we're very aligned in the way that we see the world.

Chelsey Donn:

You did download the app?

Trey Gerrald:

I did.

Trey Gerrald:

I haven't, I haven't paid for the subscription though, but

Trey Gerrald:

... Chelsey Donn: But it's, it's there and like

Trey Gerrald:

So it obviously worked, so kudos-

Trey Gerrald:

Good job.

Chelsey Donn:

To Calm.

Trey Gerrald:

Good job, Calm.

Chelsey Donn:

Hoo, should we all take like a break?

Chelsey Donn:

Should we do [laughs]- do a 15 second breath.

Chelsey Donn:

Maybe not 15 seconds, but ... everybody that's listening just take a deep breath right now.

Chelsey Donn:

I feel better.

Chelsey Donn:

All right Trey, you can complain if you want to, I'm not, I'm not telling you you can't,

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Whatever.

Trey Gerrald:

Well, I've been saving both this complaint and My Royal Highness

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

I want to complain about tryptophan.

Trey Gerrald:

You know that?

Chelsey Donn:

Tryptophan.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, the sleeping-

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

But-

Chelsey Donn:

Element that's in turkey.

Trey Gerrald:

Well this is like a um, wives tale!

Trey Gerrald:

So.

Trey Gerrald:

All the studies have been done that there is no difference of turkey or chicken or any other

Trey Gerrald:

It's just this wives tale that people think that tryptophan in turkey is

Chelsey Donn:

And it's not?

Trey Gerrald:

It's actually like an amino acid situation.

Trey Gerrald:

It's really that you probably are just gorging yourself.

Trey Gerrald:

More so than on a usual different other holiday.

Chelsey Donn:

So are you telling me there's the same amount of tryptophan

Chelsey Donn:

This is blasphemous.

Chelsey Donn:

This can't be.

Trey Gerrald:

This a New York Times article, 'no...

Chelsey Donn:

[gasp]

Trey Gerrald:

The tryptophan in turkey won't make you sleepy.'

Chelsey Donn:

Huh.

Trey Gerrald:

It says tryptophan is an amino acid-

Chelsey Donn:

Interesting.

Trey Gerrald:

And it's associated with healthy sleep.

Trey Gerrald:

But there is no more tryptophan in turkey than in other-

Chelsey Donn:

Huh.

Trey Gerrald:

Common meats like chicken and beef.

Chelsey Donn:

That's amazing.

Trey Gerrald:

Other foods include nuts and cheese.

Trey Gerrald:

While tryptophan could make you drowsy on its own, its effects are limited in the

Chelsey Donn:

Huh.

Trey Gerrald:

Turkey has many.

Chelsey Donn:

Wow.

Trey Gerrald:

My complaint is that this lie that would just, keeps getting perpetuated-

Chelsey Donn:

Lie.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean these poor turkeys.

Trey Gerrald:

They get raised to be slaughtered and eaten on one day out of the year, and now we're judging turkeys

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah I don't like it at all.

Trey Gerrald:

Don't lie to me.

Trey Gerrald:

That's my, that's my complaint.

Chelsey Donn:

That, I mean I'm just so happy that you stood up for the turkeys,

Trey Gerrald:

Stand up for me.

Chelsey Donn:

Stand up for the [laughs] turkeys, it's today.

Trey Gerrald:

I agree.

Chelsey Donn:

And they've been getting a really bad rap.

Chelsey Donn:

When they're sacrificing their entire life for us, let's be honest.

Chelsey Donn:

Amazing.

Chelsey Donn:

Let's give it up for the turkeys.

Trey Gerrald:

I love that we had um, educational complaint and we also had-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

A moment of gratitude, uh I think this is a great launching pad for us to get

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God Trey, that is such a good idea.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't even know where that came from, but let's do it.

Chelsey Donn:

As you know, we are you trusty Review Queens, we each bring in a review from the

Trey Gerrald:

We read you that review, we break it down and we rate the impact of that

Trey Gerrald:

... VOICEOVER: Assess that kvetch.

Trey Gerrald:

And in honor of this American holiday, Chelsey and I have each picked

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God, you are right.

Chelsey Donn:

Wow, your correctness deserves five stars Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

You're really just killing it today, all right?

Chelsey Donn:

And on top of that, you're going first.

Chelsey Donn:

Are you ready, RQ?

Trey Gerrald:

Boy am I thankful to go first.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay take it away Trey, let's hear it.

VOICEOVER:

Review that Review.

Trey Gerrald:

So today, I have a five star review.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

From Amazon.com.

Chelsey Donn:

Wait, I thought your five star was from Yelp, my five star was from Amazon.

Trey Gerrald:

I ended up switching it at the last minute.

Chelsey Donn:

I hope we don't have the same one.

Trey Gerrald:

We can both be Amazon.

Trey Gerrald:

Do you have a name for yours?

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, so I don't know the name for this, so I'm ... Okay, here we go.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, so Today I have a five star review from Amazon.com and this is

Chelsey Donn:

I have one for Kleenex facial tissues too!

Chelsey Donn:

I swear to God.

Trey Gerrald:

Wait, What...is the subject, "a mother's struggle?"

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

[GASPS].

Chelsey Donn:

We actually picked the same review.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs] Wait but what's really weird and extra sus about this Trey, is that I have the same

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, so I don't have, I don't have the name of the reviewer.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, that's my review.

Trey Gerrald:

What do we do?

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

Um, I could find another one really ... Well, okay, I can do

Chelsey Donn:

That's so funny.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, all right so I'll, I'll let you do Kleenex, and I will do-

Chelsey Donn:

Okay sorry that was one I had that's why I said Amazon 'cause

Trey Gerrald:

I cannot believe that we just have the same one.

Chelsey Donn:

That's crazy.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay let...

Chelsey Donn:

As soon as you said Kleenex, I was like, "Oh no!"

Chelsey Donn:

Um.

Trey Gerrald:

Wait if the subject is, 'mother's struggle' then why is the reviewer a male-

Chelsey Donn:

Well that's why I wanted to get into it.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

All right, I just found another, I forgot that I found this last night.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

So I have a five star review from Amazon.com.

Trey Gerrald:

This is written by Randy M.

Chelsey Donn:

Randee's my moms name, you know?

Chelsey Donn:

How does this Randy spell it?

Trey Gerrald:

R-A-N-D-Y.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

I have a cousin named Randi that's a female it's spelled it with an I.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, my mom spells it with two Es.

Trey Gerrald:

Randee!

Chelsey Donn:

Randee.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, so this is a five star from Randy M-

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

On Amazon.com for an orthopedic donut cushion.

Trey Gerrald:

Here we go.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

The subject is, 'don't believe it!' Exclamation mark.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Or at least that's what I thought at first.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, parentheses sigh.

Trey Gerrald:

Bring it on.

Trey Gerrald:

I'll try anything, I guess, dot, dot, dot.

Trey Gerrald:

At this point I was desperate.

Trey Gerrald:

This was the most expensive of several similar looking products, but I figured

Trey Gerrald:

When it arrived, I thought a mistake had been made.

Trey Gerrald:

The box was tiny!

Trey Gerrald:

Not nearly big enough to fit a nice plush seat cushion.

Trey Gerrald:

I opened the box and was sure a mistake had been made.

Trey Gerrald:

It just wasn't thick enough.

Trey Gerrald:

I had been sitting on two seat cushions, one on top of the other and they had been permanently

Trey Gerrald:

Those two cushions were both highly rated, and now they had been reduced

Trey Gerrald:

How is this thin little donut style cushion going to be any different?

Trey Gerrald:

Well, I guess I'll just have to go through the hassle of returning it.

Trey Gerrald:

Then, I put it on my chair and sat down on it.

Trey Gerrald:

Holy moly!

Trey Gerrald:

How could this be?

Trey Gerrald:

For the first time in nearly a year, I didn't feel any pain while sitting.

Trey Gerrald:

After a long, pain free, several hour session at the computer, this

Trey Gerrald:

Surely after several more long sessions at the computer, the orthopedic donut cushion

Trey Gerrald:

It kept bouncing back after supporting my weight parentheses, 235 pounds, for several more hours.

Trey Gerrald:

Same thing the next day.

Trey Gerrald:

Only time will tell if this cushion continues to bounce back, but so far I'm impressed.

Trey Gerrald:

The orthopedic donut cushion by Ergonomic Innovations is simply amazing.

Trey Gerrald:

I was having excruciating tailbone pain and occasional hemorrhoid pain.

Trey Gerrald:

Not anymore!

Trey Gerrald:

The orthopedic donut cushion was obviously different from all other similar products.

Trey Gerrald:

It wasn't like any other, quote unquote, memory foam cushion I had ever tried.

Trey Gerrald:

If you push down hard with your thumb, it doesn't dent nearly as easily

Trey Gerrald:

Either this is a much firmer version of memory foam, or it's not really memory foam

Trey Gerrald:

I don't know how the other similar donut shaped seat cushions on Amazon would have fared.

Trey Gerrald:

But this higher priced donut cushion is well worth the money.

Trey Gerrald:

I wholeheartedly recommend the orthopedic donut cushion by Ergonomic Innovations.

Trey Gerrald:

It simply works brilliantly and lives up to the hype.

Chelsey Donn:

Hm.

Trey Gerrald:

Believe it.

Chelsey Donn:

Wow.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh.

Chelsey Donn:

Randy M, I'm so happy that your, your no longer

Chelsey Donn:

That sounds terrible.

Chelsey Donn:

Not even one hard, rock hard pain inducer, two!

Chelsey Donn:

Two you've been sitting on.

Trey Gerrald:

Mashed down together.

Chelsey Donn:

Ma-, ugh, God.

Trey Gerrald:

Let me tell you what this product is titled.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

So I read you the um-

Chelsey Donn:

The abbreviated.

Trey Gerrald:

Name that's on the box.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay, okay.

Trey Gerrald:

But the actual listing on Amazon is donut pillow tailbone hemorrhoid cushion, donut

Chelsey Donn:

Wow.

Trey Gerrald:

Prostate, coccyx, sciatica, pregnancy, post-natal, ishikolversatitis.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

Tuberosity by Ergonomic Innovations.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, I have thoughts about this whole name situation.

Chelsey Donn:

I know this is a little bit of a tangent, but I have thoughts.

Chelsey Donn:

We all come upon products differently, you know, so maybe you're searching for a hemorrhoid

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

Somebody can pop in all the key words that they want to pop in to

Trey Gerrald:

Yes, it's like having tags on YouTube videos.

Chelsey Donn:

Exactly.

Trey Gerrald:

Like we can't see what the tags are but it knows.

Chelsey Donn:

Exactly, like why can't people just tag it all these things and then just call it

Chelsey Donn:

And I'm like, "I don't know."

Chelsey Donn:

There's just too many names in these titles.

Chelsey Donn:

Out of control, but that's really a comment to-

Trey Gerrald:

Amazon.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

So, all right, so what are your thoughts on Randy M?

Chelsey Donn:

Okay, so Randy M really took us on a journey here and he took his time.

Chelsey Donn:

He really had me tricked for a second because he was very adamant about talking about his

Chelsey Donn:

Like the fact that it was squished into a small pillow, do you know when you, like

Chelsey Donn:

So like, it does come really, really shrunk up and then when you open it, it expands.

Chelsey Donn:

So I imagine that's what's happening with the very small box, is that it's expanding.

Trey Gerrald:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Chelsey Donn:

I'm happy for Randy M, that they seem to finally have

Chelsey Donn:

So that's good.

Chelsey Donn:

I imagine that a lot of people reading these reviews have similar issues to Randy

Chelsey Donn:

I thought both of those things as, you know, a consumer of reviews, were very helpful

Chelsey Donn:

Or maybe I would be searching a certain medical condition, so the fact that Randy M

Chelsey Donn:

I think Randy M was really trying to take us on a journey with him.

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

It's surprising to me that Randy has only been suffering from excruciating tailbone pain

Trey Gerrald:

'Cause it seems like this is something that has been like a lifelong problem.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, either way, even if it was just a really hard year for Randy, I think that Randy's done

Chelsey Donn:

I, I like reviews that don't just paint the rosiest picture, even when they are five stars.

Chelsey Donn:

I like that he setup the expectation of the person buying this like, wait, you're gonna

Chelsey Donn:

And I thought the same thing.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, there was drama.

Chelsey Donn:

Did you not feel the drama?

Chelsey Donn:

Holy moly!

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

[laughs] I feel like 'holy moly' really like tells you the age too.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah!

Chelsey Donn:

I mean I just thought, that's what I, I guess there was an intentionality, clearly.

Trey Gerrald:

So it sounds to me that Randy M is using this when they're working at their computer.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

What do you think Randy M does at the computer for hours on end?

Chelsey Donn:

That's a great question Trey.

Chelsey Donn:

Gosh.

Chelsey Donn:

I want to say an accountant.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah, something like uh, clerical like that.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Something that's like, I thought that as well, it's like-

Chelsey Donn:

Maybe like he does like translations.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh.

Chelsey Donn:

Or they, they do translations, 'cause obviously Randy is a unisex

Chelsey Donn:

... Trey Gerrald: I also thought the whole thing about

Chelsey Donn:

So funny.

Trey Gerrald:

That's like one of those random things that I feel

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

It's not something that like you just necessarily like is

Chelsey Donn:

Well that's-

Trey Gerrald:

And you have to like-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah!

Trey Gerrald:

Press it.

Chelsey Donn:

That's like, I keep real, like I mean it was as if Randy was

Chelsey Donn:

You know?

Chelsey Donn:

Because we always see the hand pushing down into the uh

Chelsey Donn:

... Trey Gerrald: Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

Memory foam.

Trey Gerrald:

The amount of times, I think it's three maybe four times

Trey Gerrald:

... Chelsey Donn: Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Trey Gerrald:

Randy says the product, I think it's three, says the product's full name.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

The orthopedic donut cushion by Ergonomic Innovations.

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

Trey Gerrald:

Felt a little like-

Chelsey Donn:

It could've been a fake review?

Trey Gerrald:

Well yeah, like it felt a little-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Like heavy handed in a way.

Trey Gerrald:

I actually, overall, think this is an authentic, truthful review from Randy.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

But I know what you mean.

Chelsey Donn:

I have that same moment even when at the end when the like last sentence

Chelsey Donn:

... Trey Gerrald: Believe it.

Chelsey Donn:

Believe it.

Chelsey Donn:

You know?

Chelsey Donn:

It felt a little like heavy handed.

Trey Gerrald:

Assuming that I wouldn't believe it.

Chelsey Donn:

Exactly.

Chelsey Donn:

Like, why wouldn't I believe you Randy?

Chelsey Donn:

Do you have something to hide?

Trey Gerrald:

Oh!

Trey Gerrald:

As far as spelling and grammar, all the spelling is really great, there

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Trey Gerrald:

And there isn't a space between every paragraph which is interesting.

Trey Gerrald:

But I've never encountered this before.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Randy uses the subject as the first sentence, because the subject

Trey Gerrald:

And then the first sentence of the review is, or at least that's what I thought at first.

Chelsey Donn:

Some people-

Trey Gerrald:

That's so interesting to me.

Chelsey Donn:

Do that.

Chelsey Donn:

That's a technique.

Chelsey Donn:

My manager randomly does that all the time.

Chelsey Donn:

Every time he sends me-

Trey Gerrald:

Really?

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Every time he sends me an email, the subject is like the beginning of the

Trey Gerrald:

It's just very jarring to see the word 'or' capitalized.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Like it, that it's the very first thought.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

It is interes-, it is sort of click baity in a little bit, in a little, you know, a little bit

Trey Gerrald:

Yes!

Trey Gerrald:

It really sets, it set me off sort of uneasy.

Trey Gerrald:

Like I wasn't sure, like I-I felt a little unsure of where we were going.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

I wonder what Hammond Cheese would think about this, like, I wonder if HammondCheeseSandWitch

Chelsey Donn:

Or if, if Hammond would agree with us that yeah, I mean it feels a little bit suspicious that they

Chelsey Donn:

And then they ended with believe it.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

I think I need to take that into the consideration with me, but I'm not willing

Trey Gerrald:

No.

Chelsey Donn:

What I, what I might think happened more likely, is, you know when you

Chelsey Donn:

..." Trey Gerrald: Mm-hmm [affirmative], yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

Something like that.

Chelsey Donn:

I wouldn't be shocked if it was that situation maybe.

Trey Gerrald:

Sure.

Chelsey Donn:

But even if that was the case, I still think that, that Randy's being

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Also, 50 people found this helpful.

Chelsey Donn:

That's good.

Trey Gerrald:

Do we think this is a common experience, or a fluke experience?

Trey Gerrald:

I do imagine that everyone would be like, "This looks really small."

Trey Gerrald:

Like that feels like that would be a very common experience when you first open this cushion.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

For sure.

Chelsey Donn:

So yeah, I think that this is a common experience, I believe Randy I think

Chelsey Donn:

I think that they took us through the process of getting the pillow, I think they took

Chelsey Donn:

Like they took us through the process at the beginning, and then I came back the

Chelsey Donn:

So, I would think based on that that if it weren't working, Randy would've

Chelsey Donn:

What do you think?

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah I think.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah, this is from April of 2020, so there's enough time-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

To like, it didn't last.

Chelsey Donn:

Exactly.

Chelsey Donn:

I think it's a solid review, Trey.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah, I think I could crown this.

Chelsey Donn:

All right, let's do it.

Trey Gerrald:

All right, so, Chelsey and I each have our own set of 1-5 crown cards.

Trey Gerrald:

And in an effort to be fair and influenced by one another, we will

VOICEOVER:

The Queens are Tabulating.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, you ready?

Chelsey Donn:

I'm ready.

VOICEOVER:

Total score.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay, I'm holding up-

Trey Gerrald:

Oh.

Chelsey Donn:

Four crowns, Trey's holding up four crowns.

Chelsey Donn:

This is a unanimous decision.

Chelsey Donn:

I'll go first.

Chelsey Donn:

I really liked Randy, I only took the one crown off because I was a little bit suspicious

Chelsey Donn:

And I feel like Randy had lots of personality, I loved the holy moly and the torture

Chelsey Donn:

And I liked getting to know Randy through this review and I think it's useful,

Chelsey Donn:

thank you Randy, that was great.

Chelsey Donn:

That's why you're getting four crowns from me.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey, why are you giving Randy four crowns?

Trey Gerrald:

I did four 'cause ultimately the impact is positive.

Trey Gerrald:

It just feels a little, uh, long.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I think uh, Randy could maybe have cut, maybe one, maybe

Trey Gerrald:

But yeah, I, I, ultimately I-I believe that this was a, an experience that

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

And I just took one away because it was a little much, it was little too long.

Chelsey Donn:

A little too long.

Trey Gerrald:

Um, yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Good job, Randy.

Chelsey Donn:

Good job Randy.

Chelsey Donn:

Well done.

Chelsey Donn:

All right, well with that in mind, let's take a quick break you guys.

Chelsey Donn:

I need to sit back and relax into my aerodynamic pillow cushion.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

When we come back, we're going to get into my review you guys.

Trey Gerrald:

Woo.

Trey Gerrald:

B-R-B.

VOICEOVER:

Hold your crown, we'll be right back.

VOICEOVER:

Who let them out?

Chelsey Donn:

Love that rendition so much.

Trey Gerrald:

I gotta work on my turkey sounds.

Chelsey Donn:

My God.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, it sounds a little chokey.

Trey Gerrald:

It sounded chokey.

Trey Gerrald:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

Um, it's time for one star zingers, here we go let's take a quick spin on the merry-go-round.

VOICEOVER:

I don't feel like an icon, most of the days I feel like 'I can't.' That's with an A.

VOICEOVER:

Oh Meryl.

Chelsey Donn:

Here's the deal, Trey and I have each picked a Thanksgiving themed

Chelsey Donn:

And with 30 seconds on the clock, we'll take turns trying to recite the zinger

Trey Gerrald:

Just like queen Meryl Streep who does it all.

Chelsey Donn:

Before the clock runs out.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay we better not have the same review.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't imagine we do.

Chelsey Donn:

That would be very-

Trey Gerrald:

I hope not.

Chelsey Donn:

Strange.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, Chelsey, where's your zinger from today?

Chelsey Donn:

Okay, my zinger is from Google reviews.

Chelsey Donn:

Is yours [laughs] also?

Trey Gerrald:

No.

Trey Gerrald:

[laughs]

Chelsey Donn:

Okay good.

Chelsey Donn:

All right, so, my zinger is from Google reviews, it's reviewed by Howard and it is for the Marie

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know what that's about.

Trey Gerrald:

Ah, all right.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs] I'll try to incorporate it into the reading, I guess.

Trey Gerrald:

This is gonna be fun.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

All right, and today you're going to be strapped in on a

Chelsey Donn:

Sure, great.

Chelsey Donn:

You know there's prunes in that, apparently.

Trey Gerrald:

Really?

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

That's part of the doctor part, just saying.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

Are you ready?

Chelsey Donn:

I'm strapped into my two liter, uh bottle of Doctor Pepper and I am ready.

VOICEOVER:

Three, two, one, go!

VOICEOVER:

Shakespeare.

VOICEOVER:

Overpriced, undeserved, and no flavor!

VOICEOVER:

Disney.

VOICEOVER:

Overpriced, undeserved, and no flavor!

VOICEOVER:

Sports announcer.

VOICEOVER:

Overpriced, undeserved, and no flavor!

VOICEOVER:

Teen drama.

VOICEOVER:

Overpriced, undeserved, and no flavor.

VOICEOVER:

Breaking news.

VOICEOVER:

That's all!

Chelsey Donn:

Overprice- uh, okay, that, that was slow, but that's okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Four!.

Chelsey Donn:

Four, happy Thanksgiving.

Chelsey Donn:

Tell us where your zinger is from.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay today I have a one star zinger from target.com, a new favorite.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

And this is written by Linda J.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

For the Ocean Spray jellied cranberry sauce, 14 ounces.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God.

Chelsey Donn:

Are you a jellied cranberry sauce, or a like chunky cranberry sauce kinda guy?

Trey Gerrald:

Both, I love both.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh you like both.

Trey Gerrald:

Equally, my mom makes both.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

My mom presents both at Thanksgiving.

Chelsey Donn:

She presents, okay.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

Linda's review is, 'sorry I only do the real deal cranberries sauce, I cook

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Chelsey Donn:

Sorry, I know I don't need to comment long on this is Linda, but like, why,

Trey Gerrald:

Oh.

Trey Gerrald:

But it's funny because you asked me.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh I did, you're right.

Chelsey Donn:

So maybe not an inappropriate?

Chelsey Donn:

Like maybe she's trying to share that it's easy to do, I don't know, but anyway.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh that's her um, one star review for you.

Chelsey Donn:

All right Linda.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

What am I strapped in on?

Chelsey Donn:

Trey, you are strapped into a pumpkin pie.

Trey Gerrald:

Ah!

Chelsey Donn:

So.

Trey Gerrald:

My favorite.

Chelsey Donn:

I know how much you love it.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey actually served me some pumpkin pie when I was at his house, and I don't even love

Chelsey Donn:

So you've earned your-

Trey Gerrald:

Thank you.

Chelsey Donn:

Your pumpkin pie spot on this Meryl-Go-Round, are you ready Trey?

Trey Gerrald:

I am ready.

Chelsey Donn:

Let's do it.

VOICEOVER:

Three, two, one, go!

VOICEOVER:

Musical theater.

VOICEOVER:

Sorry I only do the real deal cranberry sauce [inaudible 00:31:07] make cranberry sauce.

VOICEOVER:

[laughs] Film noir.

VOICEOVER:

Sorry I only do the real deal cranberry sauce, big boy, I cook real

VOICEOVER:

True crime doc.

VOICEOVER:

Sorry I

VOICEOVER:

only do the real deal cranberry sauce, I cook real cranberries to make cranberry sauce.

VOICEOVER:

Soap opera.

VOICEOVER:

Sorry I only do the real deal cranberry sauce, I cook real

VOICEOVER:

cra- ugh.

VOICEOVER:

Three, two, one, go!

VOICEOVER:

That's all.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs] That's all.

Chelsey Donn:

I think we might've tied again.

Chelsey Donn:

One, ah, we tied!

Trey Gerrald:

That was long.

Chelsey Donn:

4-4, go us.

Trey Gerrald:

Woop, woop!

Chelsey Donn:

We have a tying streak going on right now.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm not mad at it.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm thankful for that.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm thankful for our tie streak.

Chelsey Donn:

That was fun.

VOICEOVER:

Review that Review.

Trey Gerrald:

Okie doke.

Trey Gerrald:

So we're back from that rousing, thankful, game break.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

And Chelsey, it's your turn.

Trey Gerrald:

I'm so curious.

Trey Gerrald:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

What is your [laughs] review for this week?

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my goodness.

Chelsey Donn:

This is so funny.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Chelsey Donn:

So this review was actually sent to me by a friend, and usually we don't do five star

Chelsey Donn:

So, this is a five star review on Amazon for a Kleenex Trusted Everyday Facial Tissue.

Chelsey Donn:

And it's for a 36 pack.

Chelsey Donn:

This review is written by James.

Chelsey Donn:

James has a middle initial, so I, I don't know what to do here, but I'm gonna say James OT, okay?

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

[laughs]

Chelsey Donn:

So James OT.

Chelsey Donn:

This subject is, 'a mother's struggle.' All right, here we go.

Chelsey Donn:

I want to start off by thanking Kleenex for selling these in 36 packs.

Chelsey Donn:

I've put it on subscription, and if they want to start selling a 72 pack, sign me up.

Chelsey Donn:

I have three reasons for needing this much Kleenex, and their

Chelsey Donn:

This is how it goes in this house.

Chelsey Donn:

First, the Kleenex disappears.

Chelsey Donn:

Then, the toilet paper.

Chelsey Donn:

Then, they go for the fabrics and you don't want to go there unless you're ready to

Chelsey Donn:

This used to be a good Christian home.

Chelsey Donn:

But it's not about moral judgment anymore.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm way beyond that.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm in survival mode.

Chelsey Donn:

If I don't supply absorbent paper products, I'm going to find my dish towels hidden

Chelsey Donn:

The other day I almost cut my hand on a sock.

Chelsey Donn:

I'm sorry to speak so frankly, but with three teenage boys?

Chelsey Donn:

A woman has got to be practical.

Chelsey Donn:

The funny part is, they think they're being sneaky with their 45 minute

Chelsey Donn:

As if I'm going to walk in on them journaling?

Chelsey Donn:

They slink around the house like unfixed cats, while I try to announce my location at all times.

Chelsey Donn:

No one needs to ask me to knock anymore.

Chelsey Donn:

I knock on the walls, I practically wear a cow bell!

Chelsey Donn:

I'm not looking to catch anyone by surprise, believe me, I'm just trying to get through this.

Chelsey Donn:

The other day, my husband was watching me unload the groceries and he asks me,

Trey Gerrald:

Hm.

Chelsey Donn:

I about knocked him off his chair.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Chelsey Donn:

James OT.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

Oy Gavelt!

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my goodness.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Trey Gerrald:

So-

Chelsey Donn:

What do you think, Trey?

Trey Gerrald:

I'm very curious here.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I wonder if this is one of those jokey reviews that

Chelsey Donn:

I do too.

Chelsey Donn:

That's one of the reasons why I wanted to bring it in today, because it's, it all felt

Chelsey Donn:

Like I said, I have friends send me reviews all the time and a lot of times I won't use them

Chelsey Donn:

But I thought in the spirit of Thanksgiving lightness, we would

Trey Gerrald:

I'm of two minds here, because I do feel ... like it, it

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Trey Gerrald:

Identifying as a mother.

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

Ordering from like an account that is maybe a spouses name, or

Trey Gerrald:

... Chelsey Donn: Right.

Trey Gerrald:

It, it it-

Chelsey Donn:

Or James could be a female name, I think I know a girl named James.

Trey Gerrald:

Sure.

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

Could be.

Trey Gerrald:

That is very-

Chelsey Donn:

And the photo-

Trey Gerrald:

Possible.

Chelsey Donn:

The photo, like on the left of the name James, it's like a cartoon, so it

Trey Gerrald:

Interesting.

Chelsey Donn:

It's a cartoon of a, someone skiing with um, a scarf that is

Chelsey Donn:

Just saying.

Trey Gerrald:

Oy!

Trey Gerrald:

But, it is so interesting to me how vividly they communicate what these tissues are

Trey Gerrald:

... Chelsey Donn: Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Catching.

Trey Gerrald:

Without ever stating what it is.

Chelsey Donn:

I know.

Chelsey Donn:

Well it's sort of like the cherries.

Trey Gerrald:

The cherries.

Chelsey Donn:

Right?

Chelsey Donn:

Because they really skirted around it.

Chelsey Donn:

The first time I read this review, I'm going to be honest, because like I, like, you know, use

Trey Gerrald:

Right.

Chelsey Donn:

So I thought it was that, and then they kept reading and then I saw the

Trey Gerrald:

At first the stiff as aluminum, I was like, "What?"

Trey Gerrald:

I was like, "Wait, what?"

Trey Gerrald:

And then it was like, I almost cut my hand on the sock-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Sock.

Chelsey Donn:

And it was like, "Oh Jesus."

Trey Gerrald:

Like then it's pretty clear.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Um, but it's interesting to me because, ugh, I don't know

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Or when you're crying.

Chelsey Donn:

Sure.

Trey Gerrald:

But I, I recognize you could use it for cleaning up

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

So, but, it is interesting because I don't know how, I don't know if I can judge

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Could give me a more descriptive assessment of-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

How valuable the Kleenex is or not.

Trey Gerrald:

But I'm really getting from James OT-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Or whoever wrote this as a mother, that they're really going through a lot which

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

Maybe the Kleenex isn't that strong?

Trey Gerrald:

If you're going through that many boxes.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know, I think, I think the whole point is that she has teenage

Trey Gerrald:

That's really the-

Chelsey Donn:

You know.

Trey Gerrald:

Star of the review, more so than the Kleenex.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes, oh my God, 100%.

Chelsey Donn:

I think that clearly we're, we're going for humor here, but I liked it, like I

Chelsey Donn:

I liked James OT's, it almost felt like James OT was like I'm part of a secret society- that

Chelsey Donn:

I also think it's funny that the husband is completely oblivious.

Trey Gerrald:

Oh, of course.

Chelsey Donn:

To what's going on, like you know, meanwhile the mom, like behind the

Trey Gerrald:

And that the mom is wearing cowbell.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Chelsey Donn:

The cowbell.

Trey Gerrald:

And then ugh, do you think that this is like a common experience?

Trey Gerrald:

[laughs]

Chelsey Donn:

Um, ugh, it's so hard because I feel like this review is really all in good fun, right?

Chelsey Donn:

Because similar to other-

Trey Gerrald:

I think so too.

Chelsey Donn:

Even when we were talking about the Pepto Bismol, it's like, you're probably

Trey Gerrald:

Right

Chelsey Donn:

You're probably just doing it because you need it.

Chelsey Donn:

So, I don't think it necessarily adds or retracts from somebody's willingness to order this product.

Trey Gerrald:

Correct.

Trey Gerrald:

It is funny to me, Kleenex is one of those brands that just like, has become

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Trey Gerrald:

At least I did growing up.

Trey Gerrald:

Or like an ear cotton swab, I grew up calling those Q-Tips, even though

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

Or like-

Chelsey Donn:

Band-Aid.

Trey Gerrald:

A bandage, a Band-Aid.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

I just wanted to throw that out 'cause Kleenex.

Chelsey Donn:

Kleenex.

Chelsey Donn:

I mean-

Trey Gerrald:

Well.

Chelsey Donn:

Let's, I-I think that what also made me want to bring this review out for Thanksgiving

Trey Gerrald:

Yep.

Chelsey Donn:

For selling these in 36 packs, and I think that really

Chelsey Donn:

It's like, if you don't want to hear my gratitude to Kleenex, then pass me by and don't read.

Chelsey Donn:

But if you want to know why I'm taking this opportunity on a public forum to thank them,

Chelsey Donn:

I mean, again, I don't know how my friend found this review 'cause it was just, it was texted

Chelsey Donn:

I mean-

Trey Gerrald:

Whoa.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Chelsey Donn:

That's absurd.

Chelsey Donn:

My guess is that this was probably on like a Buzzfeed, or a list somewhere because,

Chelsey Donn:

Maybe you can.

Trey Gerrald:

The one I found does not show how many people found it helpful.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh really?

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Whoever sent this to me sent like a proper, screenshot of the whole um,

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know.

Trey Gerrald:

That's really funny.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I mean I feel like I can crown this, how about you?

Chelsey Donn:

I think I can crown.

Chelsey Donn:

Let's crown James OT.

VOICEOVER:

The Queens are Tabulating.

Trey Gerrald:

You ready?

Chelsey Donn:

I'm ready.

VOICEOVER:

Total score.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, I'm holding up three and a half, and Chelsey's holding up three and a half.

Chelsey Donn:

Three and a half!

Trey Gerrald:

Whoa, unams.

Chelsey Donn:

Wow, we did it again, Queen.

Chelsey Donn:

Tell us why you gave James OT three and a half crowns.

Trey Gerrald:

I just did three and a half because it's a little bit more than middle of the road-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Because it is very funny.

Trey Gerrald:

But, I don't know that the review is actually useful.

Trey Gerrald:

I think it is sort of like all in good fun and-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

I am a little suspicious of why, it just doesn't seem that the author name doesn't

Chelsey Donn:

Right.

Trey Gerrald:

So for that reason, three and a half 'cause it gave me a good chuckle.

Trey Gerrald:

How about you?

Chelsey Donn:

Agree.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, I gave it three and half for the chuckle and the entertainment, and that

Chelsey Donn:

And so for that, I'm giving her the three crowns.

Chelsey Donn:

Three and a half, well, I'm giving her three of the crowns, one for

Chelsey Donn:

And then I'm giving her an additional half crown just yeah, for the overall humor,

Trey Gerrald:

Agreed.

Chelsey Donn:

So three and a half for me.

Trey Gerrald:

Very fun.

Trey Gerrald:

All right.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Well my Queen, here we are.

Trey Gerrald:

At our weekly moment of gratitude.

Trey Gerrald:

Our most regal-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Portion of the show.

Chelsey Donn:

Everyday is Thanksgiving, or every week is Thanksgiving here.

Trey Gerrald:

That is true.

Chelsey Donn:

At Review that Review.

Trey Gerrald:

An intentionality that was important to us.

Trey Gerrald:

But today-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes, it's true.

Trey Gerrald:

For our Thanksgiving episode, Chelsey, who are you inducting for-

VOICEOVER:

My Royal Highness.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay Trey, I thought you'd never ask.

Chelsey Donn:

So, I'm going to present this Royal Highness and I just need you to sit and

Chelsey Donn:

My Royal Highness today is going to go to you, Trey.

Trey Gerrald:

Ah!

Chelsey Donn:

To Trey Gerrald, my partner in crime.

Chelsey Donn:

I am saying this without an expectation that I receive a nomination in return.

Trey Gerrald:

Pft.

Chelsey Donn:

I am giving this to you because you are the best friend and cohost ever.

Chelsey Donn:

You do so much for this podcast, you guys don't even know.

Chelsey Donn:

Trey is up until absurd hours editing all of our episodes and putting in so much work.

Chelsey Donn:

This podcast would never, ever happen in a million years without you.

Chelsey Donn:

I don't know where we would be if you weren't so amazing and had so many incredible skillsets

Chelsey Donn:

And I would be remiss to not take this Thanksgiving opportunity to express

Chelsey Donn:

And I love you and you are my Royal Highness, Trey.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

It literally did not occur to me at all.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

That this might happen.

Trey Gerrald:

Um, but I'm very touched and um-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

You know, as we always say, "I love that."

Trey Gerrald:

And um-

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Trey Gerrald:

Trey Gerrald is one of a kind and um I concur.

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

But thank you, I'm very touched, that's very sweet.

Chelsey Donn:

Aw.

Trey Gerrald:

Thank you.

Chelsey Donn:

It's my honor.

Chelsey Donn:

So tell us Trey, who are you inducting today on this Thanksgiving eve?

Trey Gerrald:

Well, I'm going to induct pumpkin pie.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my god yes.

Trey Gerrald:

So Chelsey got all real and serious and I straight up wrote down, pumpkin pie.

Chelsey Donn:

But that's okay because last, I think last week I did the robot

Chelsey Donn:

This is what we do.

Trey Gerrald:

Very, it's just very funny that you were very honest and

Chelsey Donn:

No.

Trey Gerrald:

But it was mentioned earlier.

Trey Gerrald:

I love pumpkin pie so fiercely.

Trey Gerrald:

It is something that I really enjoy baking is not really like, I-I have done

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs] 'Once!'

Trey Gerrald:

and like you toast your, all these different nut medley that you

Trey Gerrald:

But then I also will just buy the Libby's canned pumpkin.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

But I also love combining this little spices, you know, you can

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Trey Gerrald:

I actually recommend getting the nutmeg, the cinnamon-

Chelsey Donn:

Doing it yourself.

Trey Gerrald:

There's two other ones.

Trey Gerrald:

You can sprinkle them into your coffee.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh.

Trey Gerrald:

Which is so good.

Trey Gerrald:

Anyway.

Chelsey Donn:

That sounds nice.

Trey Gerrald:

I love pumpkin pie, it's one of my favorite things about fall.

Trey Gerrald:

Fall is my favorite season, and so I want to induct pumpkin pie because it

Trey Gerrald:

For that reason, pumpkin pie, you are my Thanksgiving addition, My Royal Highness.

Chelsey Donn:

Guys, Trey also makes a good pumpkin pie, I said it earlier, but I did

Trey Gerrald:

That was very emotional for me, thank you for inducting me, that was very kind.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh my God.

Chelsey Donn:

Of course.

Chelsey Donn:

I've been like waiting for the moment to be able to do this and it just felt like Thanksgiving

Trey Gerrald:

Me too.

Trey Gerrald:

With pumpkin pie.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah, well obviously yes.

Trey Gerrald:

Anyway, well you guys, Happy Thanksgiving.

VOICEOVER:

Listener Voicemail!

Chelsey Donn:

Ah!

Chelsey Donn:

Listener voicemail!

Trey Gerrald:

Dun-da-da-dun-dun.

Chelsey Donn:

Yay, it's been so long.

Chelsey Donn:

I've been waiting for this moment, thank you guys, thank you.

Chelsey Donn:

I can't wait to hear this.

Trey Gerrald:

Okay, so today we have a very unique Listener Voicemail.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Trey Gerrald:

It is someone very close in Chelsey's life.

Chelsey Donn:

Wow.

Trey Gerrald:

And they have so much that it actually is a two part voicemail.

Trey Gerrald:

From Jenny Hoof.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, it's from Hoof.

Chelsey Donn:

Yay.

Chelsey Donn:

Guys, just so you know, Jenny Hoof was my college roommate and she's awesome,

Chelsey Donn:

Let's hear it.

Trey Gerrald:

Here we go.

Jenny Hoof:

Hi, this is Jenny and I have a complaint to lodge.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Jenny Hoof:

I suppose you could say my largest complaint is with the

Jenny Hoof:

But, I feel like we don't really have time to get into that so, I'll be a little more specific.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Jenny Hoof:

My complaint is with patient portals.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh yeah.

Jenny Hoof:

And online communication between a patient and a doctor.

Jenny Hoof:

Well last week I had doctors appointment and I had to get a referral for that doctors

Jenny Hoof:

Totally fine, you know?

Jenny Hoof:

But then a couple weeks later, I have my appointment.

Jenny Hoof:

When I receive an email from the new doctor explaining that they haven't

Jenny Hoof:

Now why couldn't my primary care physician have just emailed that to the new doctor, why is

Trey Gerrald:

Hm.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Jenny Hoof:

Number two, who has the time to do that?

Jenny Hoof:

So I call back and I say can I print this and bring it in person?

Jenny Hoof:

And they're like, "Here's my email address."

Jenny Hoof:

And I'm like, "I really think it would just be easier to print it and bring it in person."

Jenny Hoof:

Meanwhile, I finally go through the task of another 15 minutes

Jenny Hoof:

After that, I get another email from the new doctor that's asking me to fill out my

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Jenny Hoof:

I'm already 45 minutes in the hole and I haven't even gotten any healthcare.

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Jenny Hoof:

So, but I know, in my mind, that I'm going to get there and I'm going to sit

Jenny Hoof:

I've never been to a doctors office where there hasn't been one.

Jenny Hoof:

So doesn't it stand to reason that-

Trey Gerrald:

Ah.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, she got cut off.

Chelsey Donn:

Hoof can talk, I love Hoof so much.

Chelsey Donn:

She, like, when, the first time I ever called Jenny, because I found out she was my roommate,

Chelsey Donn:

[ laughs]

Jenny Hoof:

This is Jenny, this is part two of my complaint.

Jenny Hoof:

Sorry I have a lot to say.

Chelsey Donn:

Okay.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Jenny Hoof:

So doesn't it stand to reason that I'm sitting in the waiting room for this and in

Jenny Hoof:

I mean that is the time that I've already blocked off in my life to go see-

Chelsey Donn:

Yes.

Jenny Hoof:

The doctor.

Jenny Hoof:

So why do I have to spend another 15 minutes filling out this paper work, or 20 or whatever

Jenny Hoof:

Ugh.

Trey Gerrald:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Chelsey Donn:

Hm.

Jenny Hoof:

It just drives me crazy.

Jenny Hoof:

It just doesn't make sense to me.

Jenny Hoof:

It's, can I just talk to the doctor, can I just get in there-

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Jenny Hoof:

And have my appointment, we handle all the details in person, Aside from that, if

Chelsey Donn:

[laughs]

Jenny Hoof:

And I can't even get access to and then I have to reset my, so

Jenny Hoof:

I miss the days of healthcare being simple and in person-

Trey Gerrald:

Hm.

Jenny Hoof:

And personal.

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Jenny Hoof:

And doctors taking their time and, like give me a phone call, I mean.

Jenny Hoof:

Ugh, I don't know.

Jenny Hoof:

I don't know how we fix it.

Jenny Hoof:

I don't think it's going to get better anytime soon, but, that's my complaint.

Jenny Hoof:

I stand by it, and I thank you for listening.

Jenny Hoof:

Again, thank you so much for this outlet, um, gosh, American healthcare man, am I right?

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

VOICEOVER:

Lodge A Complaint.

Chelsey Donn:

Complaint lodged Jenny, we hear you girl.

Trey Gerrald:

I have a lot to say on this subject.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

This might bleed over into the Patreon but-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I um, recently declared a new primary care physician and um-

Chelsey Donn:

Congratulations, mazel tov.

Trey Gerrald:

Thank you.

Chelsey Donn:

Sure.

Trey Gerrald:

And um, they don't have a portal.

Trey Gerrald:

And that was really shocking to me.

Chelsey Donn:

Was that like, a plus for you?

Trey Gerrald:

Well, it, it occurred to me when the doctor handed me a written prescription.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

That I was like, oh, like you're not going to just like this isn't just gonna-

Chelsey Donn:

Put it in a portal.

Trey Gerrald:

Well it's not just gonna like go to CVS and then I'll go and pick up my thing.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh, oh, oh.

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Like I have to take this piece of paper, that felt very

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Trey Gerrald:

But I've also encountered the opposite end where I had probably

Chelsey Donn:

Mm-hmm [affirmative].

Trey Gerrald:

They wouldn't answer phone calls.

Chelsey Donn:

Oh yeah?

Trey Gerrald:

It was all through a live chat on the portal.

Chelsey Donn:

Ugh.

Trey Gerrald:

And it was the most infuriating.

Trey Gerrald:

I lost my mind.

Trey Gerrald:

Like I left that doctor because-

Chelsey Donn:

Because of that.

Trey Gerrald:

Because it was so maddening.

Trey Gerrald:

Because it was literally this to the extreme.

Trey Gerrald:

So-

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

Jenny I totally concur with this complaint.

Trey Gerrald:

I think there is a happy middle here but I-I also understand, you're sitting in the waiting

Chelsey Donn:

Yeah.

Trey Gerrald:

I hear you.

Chelsey Donn:

I just think some of these industries, maybe they should remain analog.

Trey Gerrald:

Yeah I agree.

Chelsey Donn:

I feel for jenny in that regard.

Trey Gerrald:

Thank you for the voicemail Jenny, we appreciate it.

We concur.
