Speaker:

Dating for New York Minute.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

In part one, we heard the one star review.

Speaker:

And now as we've been teasing, we are going to hear the

Speaker:

other side of the coin here.

Speaker:

Try.

Speaker:

Now we're going to hear the five star.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

But before we do, Chelsea, I think it's time that we take a quick little spin.

Speaker:

On the Meryl go round.

Speaker:

Let's do it.

Speaker:

I don't feel like an icon as I feel like icon.

Speaker:

That's with an A.

Speaker:

Alright, here's the deal.

Speaker:

Trey and I have each picked a rotten, scathing, pithy one star zinger and

Speaker:

with 30 seconds on the clock we'll take turns trying to recite the

Speaker:

zinger in as many genres as possible.

Speaker:

Just like Queen Meryl Streep, who does it all.

Speaker:

Before the clock runs out,

Speaker:

all right, I try you go first.

Speaker:

You want me to go first?

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So in honor of the love theme, I found this one star walmart.

Speaker:

com review for a Jessica Simpson perfume called fancy love.

Speaker:

Fancy love.

Speaker:

No idea.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Um, and this is not, um, Amazon customer.

Speaker:

This is Walmart customer.

Speaker:

They don't want to self identify.

Speaker:

Now their, their, um, subject is, it's a no for me, doesn't smell right.

Speaker:

But their review is, it smells like hairspray.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

That was so funny.

Speaker:

Um, I'm going to strap you into that giant can of hairspray from like

Speaker:

Hairspray the Musical where they like bring them in like a Trojan horse.

Speaker:

Mm hmm.

Speaker:

You know what I'm talking about?

Speaker:

Of course I do.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

So that's what you're strapped in on.

Speaker:

Here we go.

Speaker:

Are you ready?

Speaker:

I'm ready.

All right, you got one, two,

Speaker:

Speaker:

D. Va, very good!

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

Amazing job.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

My one star zinger, I decided to explore the LA side of speed dating and my

Speaker:

one star zinger and I found a company called The three day rule matchmaking.

Speaker:

This is a one star Yelp review that is written by Cynthia S And

Speaker:

the review is quite succinct.

Speaker:

Terrible.

Speaker:

Oh, wow.

Speaker:

They don't hold back.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Are you ready?

Speaker:

Speaker:

Speaker:

I only had one word.

Speaker:

But still, you had the clarity of mind.

Speaker:

Aw, thank you.

Speaker:

Good job!

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

You really did it.

Speaker:

Oh my goodness.

Speaker:

I can't believe it.

Speaker:

Well, I am so excited to hear this five star review because I obviously have

Speaker:

my opinions about New York Minute, and I want to see if you can sway them.

Speaker:

So, to start us off.

Speaker:

Yeah, let's, let's take a little gander over here.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

Today, I have this five star written by Elizabeth C, who

Speaker:

lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Speaker:

Brooklyn in the house.

Speaker:

And here we go.

Speaker:

I won't use NY Minute dating services anymore because I already found my

Speaker:

Mr. Right through one of their events.

Speaker:

I recommend their speed dating events and their singles cruises

Speaker:

to all of my friends all the time.

Speaker:

Some of my friends have met their significant others

Speaker:

through these events, too.

Speaker:

They really do work.

Speaker:

I had attended three past events.

Speaker:

One was a speed dating event on Valentine's Day in 2012 at a venue called

Speaker:

Slate on 21st Street and 5th Avenue.

Speaker:

The second speed dating event was at the DL. on Delancey Street.

Speaker:

My final event was not a speed dating event.

Speaker:

It was one of their singles cruise around Manhattan on March 26th, 2013.

Speaker:

Great drinks.

Speaker:

Great music.

Speaker:

Great people.

Speaker:

Parentheses.

Speaker:

I made lots of new friends that night.

Speaker:

And I met my B. F. that night there.

Speaker:

Highly recommend.

Speaker:

OK, so by cruise, do we mean the Circle Line?

Speaker:

You were waiting on that.

Speaker:

It's their single.

Speaker:

She's dying at herself.

Speaker:

I

Speaker:

mean, it's gotta be the Circle Line.

Speaker:

Oh my God.

Speaker:

Sorry.

Speaker:

I

Speaker:

used to live right near the Circle Line, so.

Speaker:

So

Speaker:

that is the review.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

I thought you had something else to say.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

So this feels a little saccharine to me, Trey.

Speaker:

Um, I have my thoughts on this.

Speaker:

I don't know that this is an authentic review.

Speaker:

I shouldn't be so accusatory right out of the gate because maybe there is a

Speaker:

world in which this is Elizabeth C's truthful experience, but something just

Speaker:

smells fishy because I feel like the whole review was like, uh, Just an ad.

Speaker:

It was like, I met my husband and started my friends.

Speaker:

You know what?

Speaker:

I gave it three times.

Speaker:

One said Slate, which I love, by the way.

Speaker:

On 21st he used to go to acting school right next door.

Speaker:

Love Slate.

Speaker:

It's great.

Speaker:

Once was that sling, one was downtown, and the third was the big

Speaker:

one, the cruise around Manhattan.

Speaker:

Um, it just felt very sales pitchy to me.

Speaker:

I, I see that read on it.

Speaker:

Like, it's interesting to me because all of the specifics

Speaker:

feel a little unnecessary.

Speaker:

Like, I don't need to know that it was at the DL or whatever, like, that's weird.

Speaker:

But I actually appreciated, like, it was actually the singles cruise.

Speaker:

That's not the circle line that like profitable for me, but right now that

Speaker:

you mentioned that I am sort of like, Oh,

Speaker:

I'm sure that's like the most expensive event, you know?

Speaker:

So I don't know.

Speaker:

It feels a little odd.

Speaker:

I agree with you.

Speaker:

I also think the specifics that they gave, I wish they had spoken

Speaker:

more about their significant other.

Speaker:

I wish they had been like, I met them and like, this was, I don't

Speaker:

know, just like gotten more into.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

What they were both doing there and how they met and why they were such a good

Speaker:

match and just like something to make me feel like this relationship is real.

Speaker:

So that was written April 22nd, 2015.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

On December 2nd, 2018.

Speaker:

So three years later.

Speaker:

We get an updated review.

Speaker:

Oh God,

Speaker:

okay.

Speaker:

I got engaged over the summer!

Speaker:

My fiancé and I met at an minute dating event.

Speaker:

I couldn't be happier.

Speaker:

I wrote an email directly to Jen at the company and she wrote me such

Speaker:

a nice email congratulating us.

Speaker:

I didn't know if she would remember me since it's been a few years since I last

Speaker:

attended one of their events, but she did.

Speaker:

They offered to pay for our wedding pictures slash video as a gift.

Speaker:

How sweet is that?

Speaker:

They're really amazing people.

Speaker:

Okay, now I'm even more convinced that this is fake.

Speaker:

Or, and, or, and, or, coerced, like, extremely coerced.

Speaker:

Really?

Speaker:

Yes, Trey.

Speaker:

They're paying for their photo, like, it's just like, okay, so, if I meet my

Speaker:

significant other on your thing, then you're gonna pay for my wedding photos.

Speaker:

Like, it just feels so I don't believe it.

Speaker:

You sent me a picture of the engagement ring.

Speaker:

I mean, it, it, it could be Elizabeth

Speaker:

has also attached a photo, so you'll see it up on the screen now.

Speaker:

Am I just like a total cynic because I'm single and I just like.

Speaker:

Don't want to believe that this is true.

Speaker:

Maybe I don't know but I also feel like it.

Speaker:

It's just like

Speaker:

too Complimentary,

Speaker:

but maybe that's just

Speaker:

the verbose way that Elizabeth speaks

Speaker:

It could be it could be um, all right the spelling and grammar Was fine,

Speaker:

right?

Speaker:

Like is there is there any unique valuable information?

Speaker:

I would say if you see a photo of an engagement ring in a review of this thing,

Speaker:

then that's probably going to be valuable.

Speaker:

If we look a little deeper, are we starting to question?

Speaker:

But if this

Speaker:

is the same company that has actors and stand ins, I feel like it's pretty easy

Speaker:

to find, like Literally, you can just Google a picture of an engagement ring.

Speaker:

Touche.

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

I have several for drag.

Speaker:

Uh, that's right.

Speaker:

That could

Speaker:

be your hand.

Speaker:

This looks like, how dare you, I have much prettier fingers.

Speaker:

No offense, Elizabeth, that was a joke.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Um, okay.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Spelling

Speaker:

grammar is fine.

Speaker:

Like, there's not really anything to talk about.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And then obviously been going back and

Speaker:

forth on the truthful shady.

Speaker:

The shady scale is high for me, but maybe I'm a cynic.

Speaker:

Well, it's funny because I didn't get that read on the first

Speaker:

one,

Speaker:

like at all, except I was like, why is she saying like the restaurant?

Speaker:

Like this is so weird.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

But when you started putting out, I was like, Oh, but then it is sort

Speaker:

of like, Oh, I totally buy that.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And then I'm also like, it's so valuable.

Speaker:

I know how valuable it would be to have a engagement ring.

Speaker:

Totally.

Speaker:

Review.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

You mean like it's valuable for the company.

Speaker:

Mm hmm.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I mean, there must be, at very least, there's like, a big incentive, like,

Speaker:

if you write us a review, and like, you've met here, we will pay for

Speaker:

your, you know, like, there's gotta be We'll pick your wedding pictures.

Speaker:

Exactly.

Speaker:

I was like, I thought she was gonna say they paid for the frickin wedding.

Speaker:

I know, I thought I was gonna say that at first, too.

Speaker:

Like what?

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So do we think that this is common?

Speaker:

I mean, you were in the five star world.

Speaker:

Did you come across other engagements?

Speaker:

To be fair, there weren't that many to pick from.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Just full disclosure.

Speaker:

Sure.

Speaker:

And um, the ones that were, were sort of like, you know, they

Speaker:

were like cynically, you know,

Speaker:

Realistic that it's like a crapshoot.

Speaker:

I mean, no matter how you go about dating, no matter what the

Speaker:

convention is that you put around it.

Speaker:

It's like, you know,

Speaker:

yeah, I think that's it.

Speaker:

I think I wish there was a little bit more of that in like that

Speaker:

groundedness in the reviewer.

Speaker:

It was like I had the hardest time dating.

Speaker:

I had the hardest time.

Speaker:

Like, give me something.

Speaker:

Give me something.

Speaker:

Give me story.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So I feel

Speaker:

that to like something.

Speaker:

I don't know why, but something doesn't.

Speaker:

I don't like Elizabeth.

Speaker:

Like, if it was that easy,

Speaker:

you, like, you wouldn't even need the speed dating.

Speaker:

Like, I don't know.

Speaker:

It's like, give me a little drama, Elizabeth.

Speaker:

I want more.

Speaker:

But sometimes people don't have any drama in their life.

Speaker:

How is that possible, Trey?

Speaker:

I don't know, but sometimes people just f ing go to a singles

Speaker:

cruise and they f ing get engaged.

Speaker:

I guess.

Speaker:

But then I, even more so.

Speaker:

Think that Elizabeth is the anomaly.

Speaker:

Were we humored?

Speaker:

I was humored by the circle line.

Speaker:

I thought

Speaker:

you were going to say Elizabeth is the devil.

Speaker:

I don't know why I thought that's what you were going

Speaker:

to say.

Speaker:

No, I don't think that they're the devil.

Speaker:

I think they might be Jen.

Speaker:

Oh, really?

Speaker:

Maybe.

Speaker:

Well, Jen, let us know.

Speaker:

Was it

Speaker:

you?

Speaker:

Defend yourself.

Speaker:

Humor, entertained.

Speaker:

I told you I was entertained by the circle line, but I'm entertained by the idea

Speaker:

of calling something a cruise that is just like a little like dip rum and hat.

Speaker:

Oh, but like so many companies do that.

Speaker:

I know.

Speaker:

I know.

Speaker:

I don't know how entertained I am.

Speaker:

My whole perspective has been shifted from this conversation.

Speaker:

So that is entertaining.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Interesting.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

So the impact, do you feel like if you are just looking at Chrissy and

Speaker:

Elizabeth C comparing their reviews?

Speaker:

Do you think it's worth it to go to this company?

Speaker:

You know, maybe this is the proof of concept on this, these versus

Speaker:

episodes because I literally came into today being like, there's no denying

Speaker:

the, it's like a engagement ring.

Speaker:

Like that's what you want.

Speaker:

But I feel so influenced by Chris sees on star that I'm like, let me go back

Speaker:

and look at these other 64 reviews.

Speaker:

Because I don't, I don't know.

Speaker:

I feel like the truth always lands a little in the middle, but I, where

Speaker:

Chris C had so many meticulous points about X, Y, and Z could be fact

Speaker:

checked or exaggerate, whatever.

Speaker:

We don't get much of anything from our five star, which may

Speaker:

be like the proof, you know, a picture's worth a thousand words.

Speaker:

But even the fact that the hand isn't like with the man or like

Speaker:

maybe you don't want to put his face on but it's like, I don't know.

Speaker:

I really feel completely different than how I thought I would at

Speaker:

this coming into this episode.

Speaker:

Alright,

Speaker:

well I think you should think about that while we crown.

Speaker:

Should we do it?

Speaker:

Yeah, let's do it.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

The queens

Speaker:

are tabulating.

Speaker:

Time

Speaker:

for school.

Speaker:

Okay, I'm holding up two crowns.

Speaker:

Trey's holding up three and a half crowns.

Speaker:

I'll go first.

Speaker:

I just don't believe them.

Speaker:

I think that maybe I'm a total cynic and that's where the two crowns came from

Speaker:

because I could be totally wrong and Elizabeth C maybe really did, you're the

Speaker:

one in a million and you met your person.

Speaker:

It's totally possible that it could have happened, but because I didn't have any

Speaker:

gravitas there, I didn't have anything else to really balance out the review.

Speaker:

It felt really saccharine to me and because of that, I could only give you

Speaker:

two crowns, but Trey gave you three and a half, so why'd you do that?

Speaker:

Just because.

Speaker:

In the details, Elizabeth points out they took the cruise in March

Speaker:

of 2013, they leave a review in April of 2015, and then they show

Speaker:

the engagement of December of 2018.

Speaker:

So there's a long enough, I mean, I don't know, the whole timeline of this

Speaker:

Yelp review section is confusing to me.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

With when Jen chooses to reply.

Speaker:

It's like.

Speaker:

Also, it's worth nothing, but there is a reply from the owner that's literally, Hi

Speaker:

Elizabeth, thank you very much for sharing your experience with the Yelp community.

Speaker:

Like that's your reply to someone who has an engagement ring photo?

Speaker:

Weird, weird.

Speaker:

Especially considering how passionate we were about our last reply

Speaker:

and when you like offered to pay for their pictures and videos

Speaker:

Like you just wrote one sentence,

Speaker:

right?

Speaker:

Something's odd Yeah,

Speaker:

I don't know I don't think I'm gonna use this company,

Speaker:

sorry I don't know guys if you have been to any of these events Let us know in the

Speaker:

comments Are there any like speed dating organizations that you do recommend?

Speaker:

Let us know in the comments because I feel like

Speaker:

what makes a good speed dating event.

Speaker:

Oh,

Speaker:

asking our audience.

Speaker:

I think being clumped into groups based on your favorite diva.

Speaker:

I think so.

Speaker:

I think that was a great idea.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Someone should take note of that.

Speaker:

Watch that's going to become like the next million dollar idea.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Better be patented by us.

Speaker:

We have so many patents here on Review That Review.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Well, that was super fun.

Speaker:

I'm glad that we did that.

Speaker:

I feel thank you again, Taylor, for the suggestion.

Speaker:

I feel like it was a good one.

Speaker:

I think this was fertile soil, and I'm really glad we did this.

Speaker:

Love you, Queens.

Speaker:

Keep your crowns up.

Speaker:

We'll see you on Wednesday for an entirely new topic.

Speaker:

I wonder what it will be.

Speaker:

Hmm, so curious.

Speaker:

Ah, so fun.

Speaker:

Honestly, I'm so glad I don't have to do a speed dating event

Speaker:

' cause you're married.

Speaker:

Some of us might need to actually go on speed date.

Speaker:

I just think that even if I was single, that is not the

Speaker:

environment for me to thrive in.

Speaker:

It seems like very stressful, like it's just too, but also maybe it's good

Speaker:

because if it's speed dating and I'm like, this is awkward, it's thank you next.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

Something about that.

Speaker:

Just how does anyone, what if we did a

Speaker:

review, like a review queen's speed dating?

Speaker:

What would that

Speaker:

be?

Speaker:

Okay, so it'd be like, you'd be looped together by your favorite review platform.

Speaker:

Oh, yes.

Speaker:

That sounds good.

Speaker:

And you would talk about, maybe you would share like a favorite review

Speaker:

and see if you like get along based on your decided humor about reviews.

Speaker:

The Kleenex review.

Speaker:

The Kleenex review.

That we both brought

We did.

We did.

I re listened to that episode recently.
