Transcript
TREY GERRALD:

Especially a hot tub, oh, I love fucking

CHELSEY DONN:

I got a hot tub.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm like, you gotta have a

TREY GERRALD:

oh, give me the hot tub, fuck yeah hot tubs, I love fucking hot tubs

TREY GERRALD:

and no one has them anymore because it's too much of a liability or some bullshit,

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm with you.

VOICEOVER:

Everybody's got an opinion, Every Californian and Virginian, It's so hard to tell who to trust and who to ignore, Someone's gotta settle the score., Trey and Chelsey will help you choose, Whose views win which ones lose, Online haters are coming for you, Baby, it's time to Review That Review!,

VOICEOVER:

supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,

CHELSEY DONN:

Hello

TREY GERRALD:

Hi and hello listeners, welcome to Review That Review.

TREY GERRALD:

We are the podcast that is dedicated to reviewing.

CHELSEY DONN:

Reviews

TREY GERRALD:

That's Chelsey Donn.

CHELSEY DONN:

that's Trey Gerald.

TREY GERRALD:

just call us.

VOICEOVER:

The Review Queens,

CHELSEY DONN:

That's right

TREY GERRALD:

But first, Chelsey, before we dip into the cool, refreshing waters of online reviews, I want to give you the opportunity to

VOICEOVER:

Ledge a complaint,

CHELSEY DONN:

Thanks, Trey.

CHELSEY DONN:

I appreciate this.

CHELSEY DONN:

Today, I want to talk about it's both an idea and it's personal to me Okay, so let's see my entire life.

CHELSEY DONN:

My name has been Chelsey Brooke Donn.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

I was born with this name.

CHELSEY DONN:

My initials are CBD My entire life, that meant nothing.

CHELSEY DONN:

That was like three random letters and now CBD has become very popular as this strain of marijuana that's like, you know, doesn't really get you high, but it's like a more of a cure all, right?

CHELSEY DONN:

You can sell it in the airport.

CHELSEY DONN:

You can sell CBD now.

CHELSEY DONN:

Now, when someone, like I'll have someone help me with my luggage or something and they'll see my luggage tag and they'll be like, CBD,

CHELSEY DONN:

I know what she's doing, mean, I lived my whole life like this, Trey, with nothing, it meant nothing for my entire life and then in the last like five to ten years, All of a sudden my initials have been completely usurped and it's not like I'm against marijuana or anything like that, But it's just annoying like it was my thing and now I have to share it, you know, do you feel that way about anything?

TREY GERRALD:

And also, like, in that circumstance, I know what she's

TREY GERRALD:

doing!

TREY GERRALD:

You have to, like,

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, it's just like so annoying.

CHELSEY DONN:

I know it's just like I don't want to have this conversation at 3 a.

CHELSEY DONN:

m At the Newark Airport, you know, like I'm I'm good.

CHELSEY DONN:

Can we just

TREY GERRALD:

Well, this is sort of a personal complaint, but I think it goes in

TREY GERRALD:

here.

TREY GERRALD:

One, you could, you could alter yourself to make other people comfortable.

TREY GERRALD:

Something neither of us know anything

TREY GERRALD:

about.

TREY GERRALD:

But,

CHELSEY DONN:

I would never.

TREY GERRALD:

know how monograms, they always

TREY GERRALD:

do the last initial in the middle?

TREY GERRALD:

A.

TREY GERRALD:

Why?

TREY GERRALD:

How did that get started?

TREY GERRALD:

That's so

TREY GERRALD:

random and

CHELSEY DONN:

it's like annoying.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, it means like the last name is really important, I guess.

TREY GERRALD:

I guess.

TREY GERRALD:

But you could do, I mean, you could be CDB.

CHELSEY DONN:

could be CDB,

TREY GERRALD:

Or you could

CHELSEY DONN:

used to being CBD.

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean at one point I had someone come in the the 90s probably and fix my computer and he, I couldn't remember my password for Love for Swim on American Online and so he was like, What are your initials?

CHELSEY DONN:

And I was like CBD.

CHELSEY DONN:

He's like, what do you like to do?

CHELSEY DONN:

And so I was like Act?

CHELSEY DONN:

He's like, Drama Queen.

CHELSEY DONN:

What's your favorite number?

CHELSEY DONN:

Seven?

CHELSEY DONN:

All right, CBD Drama Queen Seven was like my screen name for a second.

TREY GERRALD:

were there two Ds between Don and Drama?

TREY GERRALD:

Or did they share a D?

CHELSEY DONN:

Ooh, I think there were two Ds, which is like so lame.

CHELSEY DONN:

Such a lame screen name.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think I finally did find my way back into love for swim, which is not the best screen name, but it's better than CBD Drama Queen Seven.

CHELSEY DONN:

Anyway, I don't know.

CHELSEY DONN:

I have like an emotional attachment to my initials.

TREY GERRALD:

Of course.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't really want to change them, but it is a little bit annoying.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I don't know if anyone's felt that way, like universally, Oh, you know what?

CHELSEY DONN:

It's like, it was my experience feeling like what it must've been like to be named Karen for your entire life.

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, it's not as bad as Karen.

VOICEOVER:

Oh my god, it's a Karen,

CHELSEY DONN:

I now really, truly empathize with the true Karens of the world who had to completely abandon their own name or Alexa.

CHELSEY DONN:

There's examples.

TREY GERRALD:

that's tough.

TREY GERRALD:

Or

TREY GERRALD:

Siri, Siri Cruz.

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, like, can you imagine?

CHELSEY DONN:

So you live your whole life and, oh, see, I just activated effing Siri.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

TREY GERRALD:

course you did.

TREY GERRALD:

And probably everyone listening.

CHELSEY DONN:

right?

CHELSEY DONN:

Sorry guys.

CHELSEY DONN:

But if, so sorry.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I'm not going to say it again.

CHELSEY DONN:

Anyway, yes, this is my complaint.

TREY GERRALD:

I hear it.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's what I have on my chest today.

CHELSEY DONN:

So

TREY GERRALD:

I really

TREY GERRALD:

hear it It's very frustrating when you own something and it gets usurped.

TREY GERRALD:

That's very, that's challenging and no one talks about it.

TREY GERRALD:

And I'm glad that you've brought it to the show

TREY GERRALD:

today.

TREY GERRALD:

I hear it.

TREY GERRALD:

It's added to the ledger.

CHELSEY DONN:

you.

CHELSEY DONN:

Thanks for listening.

CHELSEY DONN:

But anyway, now Trey, it's time.

CHELSEY DONN:

We got to get to the mean meat and potatoes here.

CHELSEY DONN:

Let's jump into the online review.

TREY GERRALD:

do it.

TREY GERRALD:

Yay.

VOICEOVER:

Review That Review,

CHELSEY DONN:

As you know, we are your trusty review queens.

CHELSEY DONN:

We bring in reviews from the internet that we feel need to be inspected.

TREY GERRALD:

We read you a review, we break it down, and then we rate the impact of that review on a scale from 0 to 5 crowns.

TREY GERRALD:

It's a very regal process that we call.

VOICEOVER:

Assess That Kvetch,

CHELSEY DONN:

All right, Trey, and it is your turn this week.

CHELSEY DONN:

What have you brought in for us?

TREY GERRALD:

Alright everyone.

TREY GERRALD:

It's interesting to me, we haven't done a lot of hotels.

TREY GERRALD:

We did

TREY GERRALD:

do a live one when we were at that convention.

TREY GERRALD:

But today I have sourced a very interesting, well I don't want to tell you what I think up

TREY GERRALD:

front, but today I have this one star Yelp review written by Cheyenne V.

CHELSEY DONN:

old Cheyenne.

CHELSEY DONN:

Have we had Cheyenne before?

CHELSEY DONN:

I definitely know we've had a Cheyenne very early on, but I don't know

TREY GERRALD:

Well, I'll tell you, well this Cheyenne, in their image, presents male.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think the last Cheyenne was female, but

TREY GERRALD:

What do you think, what, in a binary world,

TREY GERRALD:

what gender do you assign to the name Cheyenne?

CHELSEY DONN:

Well, it's funny because originally when you said it, I immediately went female, but then when you said male, I immediately went

TREY GERRALD:

Cheyenne Jackson,

CHELSEY DONN:

So I was like, I don't know now.

CHELSEY DONN:

Now I'm all, I think it's, it's truly both.

CHELSEY DONN:

It's, I think it's, it's, it's like my mom's name is Randy.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't know.

CHELSEY DONN:

What do you think of when you hear the name Randy?

CHELSEY DONN:

Do you think male or female?

TREY GERRALD:

well that's also interesting cause I know more female Randys than I know male Randys.

TREY GERRALD:

And I'm someone from the South and Randy is a very popular male name.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, interesting.

TREY GERRALD:

on the plane, I watched both the first and second Austin Powers.

TREY GERRALD:

Do I make you Randy, baby?

TREY GERRALD:

Do I Yeah.

CHELSEY DONN:

Well, that was speaking of full circle quickly from the complaint.

CHELSEY DONN:

My mom had a similar

TREY GERRALD:

Sure.

TREY GERRALD:

Oh yeah.

CHELSEY DONN:

And so like random creepy strangers would be like, Oh, I Randy, Randy, you know, and she didn't really love that either.

TREY GERRALD:

Gross.

TREY GERRALD:

All right, Back to Cheyenne, V.

TREY GERRALD:

So this is

CHELSEY DONN:

not Jackson, but me.

TREY GERRALD:

Cheyenne V.

TREY GERRALD:

This is for the Hyatt Regency Hotel in San Francisco.

CHELSEY DONN:

Woo.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

San Fran.

TREY GERRALD:

Have you ever stayed at a Hyatt Regency?

CHELSEY DONN:

I almost am like, did I stay at this hotel?

TREY GERRALD:

Well, you'll be able to know by the end.

TREY GERRALD:

Here we go.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

I might've.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

TREY GERRALD:

A supposedly, quote, four star, end quote, hotel that has neither a pool nor a hot tub.

TREY GERRALD:

I went down to the front desk to ask what the pool hours were, only to find out that the hotel doesn't have a pool.

TREY GERRALD:

I was completely stunned.

TREY GERRALD:

A 400 plus per night, supposedly a four star hotel in San Francisco, and they don't have a pool?

TREY GERRALD:

Quote, there are only two hotels in San Francisco that have a pool, end quote.

TREY GERRALD:

I was told.

TREY GERRALD:

I asked to speak to the manager, parenthesis, her name was Elaine, end parenthesis, and was informed again that there are only two hotels in San Francisco to have a pool, end quote, and that they couldn't do anything about it, no discount, no nothing, come to find out there are about ten different hotels within about

TREY GERRALD:

a mile of this one that have a pool.

TREY GERRALD:

The holiday in San Francisco has a pool, but the Hyatt Regency doesn't.

TREY GERRALD:

After informing the manager that her information is quote unquote out of date,

TREY GERRALD:

parentheses, i.

TREY GERRALD:

e., they

TREY GERRALD:

were both lying through their teeth.

TREY GERRALD:

I was promptly told that I was welcome to leave and check into one of those hotels,

TREY GERRALD:

very rudely, I literally re downloaded Yelp, just to write this review, the lack of a pool was bad enough, but the rudeness of the staff, What's the real problem?

TREY GERRALD:

Really hope this hotel hires better management staff because Elaine clearly isn't up to the task.

TREY GERRALD:

I will probably never stay at a Hyatt again.

TREY GERRALD:

Because of this.

VOICEOVER:

my god, it's

CHELSEY DONN:

Wow, I got it to Ken.

TREY GERRALD:

Isn't this?

CHELSEY DONN:

listen, it's interesting to me because I'm very much of two minds here.

CHELSEY DONN:

I have a feeling we might be like of different minds, which is good.

CHELSEY DONN:

So, First of all, I love a pool.

TREY GERRALD:

Amen?

TREY GERRALD:

Preach?

CHELSEY DONN:

preach.

CHELSEY DONN:

I have literally changed hotel bookings in the past because I found out last minute that like the pool was broken or

TREY GERRALD:

Yes, that's the

CHELSEY DONN:

have a pool.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I understand the passion.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think it's valid.

CHELSEY DONN:

I would expect, would you expect a four star hotel to have a pool?

TREY GERRALD:

That's a really good question.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know, because I'm not someone who

TREY GERRALD:

spends a lot of money on things,

CHELSEY DONN:

I think I would like in just historically traveling with my family, which would be the time when I would stay at hotels like this.

TREY GERRALD:

it's pretty standard, you

CHELSEY DONN:

It's pretty standard that like at least like by the gym, there would be a small indoor pool or there would be something like, I don't know.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think it is almost to be assumed now whether or not that pool is seasonal or not.

CHELSEY DONN:

So let's go with the assumption that it because of the passion of Cheyenne that it's pool season.

CHELSEY DONN:

Let's just go with

TREY GERRALD:

Well, San Francisco, isn't it always hot there?

CHELSEY DONN:

No, actually I was gonna say, maybe my parents and I did stay at this hotel, I honestly don't remember, all I remember was that we stayed at some hotel in San Francisco, we were road tripping like to Napa and back basically, and we stayed at a hotel in San Francisco that was like a Hyatt or something like this, but it was freezing and raining so hard every day and we were exhausted from driving that I don't even remember anything about the hotel.

CHELSEY DONN:

So it's possible that we stayed here.

CHELSEY DONN:

But that being said, I think like if I was just booking this hotel because I wanted a vacation in San Francisco, I would be disappointed if I booked a four star hotel and they didn't have a pool.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think that that's completely valid.

TREY GERRALD:

yeah you said you say the statement started with you're of two minds so that's

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, so that's one mind.

CHELSEY DONN:

The other mind, thank you, the other mind is God, it's just like reeking of you just, you nailed the point too many times and now you're annoying and I can only imagine the degree to which you are pestering the front desk staff, which to a certain degree is like, I'm sure you are annoying them.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, for example, why did they say that whole statistic about there only being two hotels?

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, who knows why they said that, but like when Cheyenne said, I come to find out, you didn't come to find out, you went back to your hotel room and you raged, you like, you went within a mile, you put, you put your Google Maps within a mile of you and, and, and literally wasted your entire vacation.

CHELSEY DONN:

On the phone, calling these places and verifying whether or not they had a pool, so you could then go down to the front desk staff and be like, I mean, that part of it was the Ken part.

CHELSEY DONN:

So

TREY GERRALD:

Well, I think what leaps out to me from this review

TREY GERRALD:

is expectation.

TREY GERRALD:

And I wanted to ask you, Chelsey, in those experiences where you realized or you learned that there wasn't a pool or it wasn't working, how did you come to that info?

TREY GERRALD:

You did some research.

TREY GERRALD:

So

TREY GERRALD:

that's what's driving me fucking crazy here.

TREY GERRALD:

Is that

TREY GERRALD:

Cheyenne?

TREY GERRALD:

And I get like, that was one of the first conversations we just had.

TREY GERRALD:

That was the first point was like, is it fair to assume a four star will have a pool?

TREY GERRALD:

Okay, great, fair, but I am someone, especially now that I have so many baby nephews, when I book hotels in Charlotte, All I'm looking for is indoor pools, because it's a

TREY GERRALD:

fun activity, it's something we can do, and it's a built in activity that

TREY GERRALD:

we may choose to do or not,

TREY GERRALD:

and there are not many, so all I'm looking for, I'm

TREY GERRALD:

starting with price, then I'm looking at pool, because if it's a cheap, but it doesn't have the pool, I'm not gonna select it, so

TREY GERRALD:

I'm a little frustrated that the pool is this meaningful to Cheyenne, but they did literally no research, they just assumed, and we all know when you assume you make an ass out of you, and meh,

CHELSEY DONN:

And

TREY GERRALD:

so that drives me a little

CHELSEY DONN:

that's a very good point.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's a very good point.

CHELSEY DONN:

And that's echoed by the fact we then did all of this research after we clearly had the capability

TREY GERRALD:

Right, we know how to We know how

CHELSEY DONN:

how to research and we're proving that we know how to search because we wrote about that in the review.

CHELSEY DONN:

So that also, I think, is coloring.

CHELSEY DONN:

However, I will say, just to get back on Cheyenne's side for a second, You're welcome to leave.

TREY GERRALD:

I mean,

CHELSEY DONN:

Do you think that's an appropriate thing for someone to say?

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, someone who works in hospitality, I fucking love that, but we know that people literally get college degrees for hospitality.

TREY GERRALD:

People take it so seriously, and I

TREY GERRALD:

think the penultimate, far above food service, and I think the penultimate, far above food service, is like hotelries the amount of care that it's such an inappropriate response

CHELSEY DONN:

Totally.

TREY GERRALD:

but i also could hear that it's like i apologize for misspeaking about the stats regardless we still do not have a pool so if it is that important to you i all i can offer you is that you check out here and you there

CHELSEY DONN:

I won't charge you, you know, the late cancellation fee and I'll allow you to go.

TREY GERRALD:

Right, but you're not, you cannot shade the customer no matter how much you want

TREY GERRALD:

to, but yeah, I mean, I think it's inappropriate.

TREY GERRALD:

I,

TREY GERRALD:

I

CHELSEY DONN:

it's inappropriate, but I think it goes back to, do we trust Cheyenne?

CHELSEY DONN:

Do we trust this narrator?

TREY GERRALD:

I, I kind of do.

TREY GERRALD:

I mean,

CHELSEY DONN:

think that if he had been badgering the front desk about this to the multiple times, they're like, I'm sorry, and let's just say that it was their mistake that they weren't purposely saying that there was only two pools.

CHELSEY DONN:

Maybe that was like what they thought.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't know.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't know why they would say that.

CHELSEY DONN:

I But do you think that that's really what they were saying?

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, you can leave.

CHELSEY DONN:

Or do you think that that was what Cheyenne was hearing?

TREY GERRALD:

it's a great question.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know how we'll ever know, because I can see that both being real.

TREY GERRALD:

But I also wonder, it's like, you can tell, even with the caps, all of the parentheticals, like, they're really leading the narrative,

TREY GERRALD:

which is fair, that, what response did you, did Cheyenne want, and coming back and be like, just, I just want you to know, you told me that there's only two pools, and a quick cursory glance

TREY GERRALD:

on Google Maps shows that there's ten, within the mile, and one of them is a holiday inn,

TREY GERRALD:

so, maybe you shouldn't be giving out misinformation, it's, it's sort of like, Whoa.

TREY GERRALD:

Okay.

TREY GERRALD:

Thank you.

TREY GERRALD:

I apologize.

TREY GERRALD:

Can I help you with anything?

TREY GERRALD:

Like, I get it.

TREY GERRALD:

Cause sometimes I get on my high horse and I

TREY GERRALD:

can't let it go, but they did that.

TREY GERRALD:

And

TREY GERRALD:

then they wrote this review and I think it just all, okay.

TREY GERRALD:

So even though I have opinions, I do think it's valuable because I would read this review and as someone who wants a pool,

TREY GERRALD:

especially a hot tub.

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, I

TREY GERRALD:

love fucking hot tubs.

TREY GERRALD:

I love hot tubs.

TREY GERRALD:

Oh,

CHELSEY DONN:

you gotta have a

TREY GERRALD:

oh, give me the hot tub!

TREY GERRALD:

Fuck yeah, hot tubs!

TREY GERRALD:

I love fucking hot tubs

TREY GERRALD:

and no one has them anymore because it's too much of a liability or some bullshit, I don't

TREY GERRALD:

know,

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm with

TREY GERRALD:

but I recognize that hot tubs, you're not always gonna get them, but this is useful information because if I'm like traveling to San Fran and I'm like, I'm gonna swim when I'm in California, it's literally all caps, it's First

TREY GERRALD:

sentence.

TREY GERRALD:

And also, like, the spelling grammar here is really remarkable.

TREY GERRALD:

I know it was rage reviewed,

TREY GERRALD:

but it is, like, lots of punctuation, lots of parentheses, quotes, caps.

TREY GERRALD:

It is very pretty.

TREY GERRALD:

Like,

TREY GERRALD:

this would score high on the SAT.

CHELSEY DONN:

I wonder how common of an experience this is.

CHELSEY DONN:

I wonder if there's a lot of other people that go to the hotel and are shocked to find out they don't have a I feel like it must be common.

TREY GERRALD:

I would think it's common enough to not spit out a random stat, unless this is Truth or Shady, where maybe the person was like, you know, I don't know, it's tough, like, there aren't a lot of hotels, like, in San Francisco proper that have pools.

TREY GERRALD:

Transcribed For XY, I don't know, like, I don't know why that was

CHELSEY DONN:

Right.

CHELSEY DONN:

Well, I was thinking like when it was first said, I was like, I wonder why that is.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, is there a rule or something?

TREY GERRALD:

but come to think of it, I have stayed in San Francisco twice in my life, and both times there were not pools,

TREY GERRALD:

now that I think about it,

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't know.

TREY GERRALD:

don't know,

CHELSEY DONN:

I would think it's common.

CHELSEY DONN:

I would think that it happens.

CHELSEY DONN:

I thought it was sort of humorous at the end when Cheyenne was like, And I reactivated my Yelp account for this reason.

TREY GERRALD:

okay, but wait, what do you think of their ending statement as like, look, the lack of pool was bad enough, But them being rude to me, it's like, that's not what you're mad about, If you're conflating all of the anger and you're directing it at Elaine, you're

TREY GERRALD:

placing blame on

CHELSEY DONN:

know.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, Elaine.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I was gonna say, did we not ment we didn't mention Elaine by name until the very end.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's a

TREY GERRALD:

No, they do.

TREY GERRALD:

They said, I asked to speak to the manager, Parentheses, her name was Elaine.

CHELSEY DONN:

oh, Okay.

TREY GERRALD:

So he actually says Elaine twice,

CHELSEY DONN:

So he is calling her out.

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, like I'm really of two minds about this Drake.

CHELSEY DONN:

'cause I don't know, like I can see there being a situation where somebody did not go to hospitality school and they did not handle this well.

CHELSEY DONN:

And I would be very turned off by that.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like if I went to someone and was like, I cannot believe that there's not a pool here.

CHELSEY DONN:

I've stayed in like 1,000,004 star hotels in my life.

CHELSEY DONN:

I've never stayed at one that didn't have a pool.

CHELSEY DONN:

And they were like only to like that was like their only answer to me and then like I was like that can't possibly be true and I was so rageful that I looked it up and they were like you can leave like that's like that's bad if that's true

TREY GERRALD:

And I understand because I can get petty and spiteful

TREY GERRALD:

too.

TREY GERRALD:

So like, I, I clearly see both sides of this

TREY GERRALD:

and even in our conversation, we've highlighted pools are important to both of us.

TREY GERRALD:

Like who knew that before?

TREY GERRALD:

So,

TREY GERRALD:

but so then, okay, so then let's zoom out because we can be, we can be on both sides of this argument.

CHELSEY DONN:

this is so funny by the way quickly I have to say I was talking about love for swim before we started this

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, right.

TREY GERRALD:

That's

CHELSEY DONN:

How weird is that?

TREY GERRALD:

Alright, so, what is the impact for booking the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco based on this review?

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh man, I think that whether you're a pool person or you're not a pool person, this is going to have an impact on you because if you're a pool person, you're going to immediately be like, not booking.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's a huge impact.

TREY GERRALD:

That's

TREY GERRALD:

more impactful to me than any shade at

CHELSEY DONN:

yeah, yeah.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know how it was

CHELSEY DONN:

I think if it was like, if it was not important to me to have a pool, then maybe I don't care because Cheyenne seems like somebody that is gonna complain about like a lot of things and they didn't really complain about like the room or anything else, did they?

TREY GERRALD:

no,

CHELSEY DONN:

They complained about the fact that there wasn't a pool and they complained about this person giving them attitude, which may or may not have been from the level of aggression that they were spewing.

CHELSEY DONN:

Jury's still out on that.

TREY GERRALD:

I think I could crown

CHELSEY DONN:

I can crown Cheyenne and I think that it's, it, we'll talk about it in the crowning.

TREY GERRALD:

All right.

TREY GERRALD:

So Chelsey and I each have our own set of zero to five crown cards.

TREY GERRALD:

In an effort to be fair and not influenced by one another, we are going to simultaneously reveal our rating.

VOICEOVER:

The Queens are tabulating,

CHELSEY DONN:

All right, the queens are unanimous, three crowns, three crowns, I guess I go first.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think it's above middle of the road because in the, I was going back and forth, but in the end, I think there is value here in terms of impact and what my actions are going to be.

CHELSEY DONN:

After reading this review, and I think that that is the intention of a review.

CHELSEY DONN:

If I'm reading reviews, I want to learn a little inside scoop or a little something maybe I would have missed that now I know.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I think that there's definitely value.

CHELSEY DONN:

I had to take away two crowns because I just don't know if I can trust Cheyenne 100 percent as my narrator.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't know if they're a little Curmudgeony, and they'd be a little difficult to deal with, a little bit of a Ken to take it back to the naming people, But three crowns, I do think it was a valuable review, more valuable than not.

CHELSEY DONN:

How about you?

CHELSEY DONN:

Why three crowns?

TREY GERRALD:

I just, I feel like because it's so specific to the pool, that gives it a tremendous amount of value, but it also makes it so niche

TREY GERRALD:

that it is interesting.

TREY GERRALD:

And then they tackle like the customer service, which like, It's sort of hard, you know, I don't know.

TREY GERRALD:

So I think it's strong and as someone who cares about pools, sure.

TREY GERRALD:

But I know that like, you got to take destiny into your own hands and you got to do the research.

TREY GERRALD:

You can't just assume.

TREY GERRALD:

So that I think is the ultimate impact for me.

CHELSEY DONN:

Good review, Trey.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, oh my goodness.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, let's hear it.

TREY GERRALD:

Alright, so we have a reply from the quote unquote business manager.

TREY GERRALD:

Their name is Nicholas K.

TREY GERRALD:

Dear Cheyenne V, Thank you for choosing our hotel for your accommodation needs.

TREY GERRALD:

We are disappointed our hotel's amenities did not meet your expectations and regret your disappointment about the pool and how it was handled.

TREY GERRALD:

We have shared your comments with the appropriate individuals to ensure this is not repeated.

TREY GERRALD:

We would welcome another opportunity to have you return.

TREY GERRALD:

We genuinely want you to experience our hotel and the outstanding service you deserve, as you should have on this visit.

TREY GERRALD:

Hyatt Regency San Francisco.

CHELSEY DONN:

Hmm.

CHELSEY DONN:

Interesting.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, I respect the reply.

TREY GERRALD:

Me too.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't I think it was It was, it was like the right length.

TREY GERRALD:

Agree.

CHELSEY DONN:

think it was like super shady Which I appreciate.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm trying to decide if it was like a little PR y

TREY GERRALD:

it feels very PR to me.

CHELSEY DONN:

Right,

TREY GERRALD:

But what are you gonna do about like, there's no pool, so like

TREY GERRALD:

you can't even address it.

TREY GERRALD:

You can

CHELSEY DONN:

Well, that's why I'm like, well, I don't really know what else they could have said to make it seem less Like a PR event, and I also respect the fact in this case that they're not really being like, we checked the tapes and on, blah, blah, blah, like you came attacking our front desk person, you know, I think they save face,

TREY GERRALD:

I think so too.

TREY GERRALD:

'cause ultimately I don't really know how else I would want a response to be, because I appreciate that it's a little distant.

TREY GERRALD:

But it does feel a little PR y, but I don't know how else, because I don't want them to get into the

CHELSEY DONN:

Right.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

TREY GERRALD:

but it feels sort of distant, but I don't know.

TREY GERRALD:

I do like how they sort of say, we shared your comments with the appropriate individuals, which makes me think they're talking about Elaine.

TREY GERRALD:

I like that they don't call out their worker's name.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

CHELSEY DONN:

I like that too.

TREY GERRALD:

You want to crown this?

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

CHELSEY DONN:

Let's cut it.

TREY GERRALD:

Okay.

VOICEOVER:

The queens are tabulating.

VOICEOVER:

Total score,

CHELSEY DONN:

the Queens are unanimous again!

CHELSEY DONN:

Four crowns, four crowns.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think I realized it when I was in my calculations that they didn't really mention the pool.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think that was why it felt PR y, like they were like, I'm sorry, our amenities didn't meet your expectations, right?

CHELSEY DONN:

So that I think is what made it a little bit more canned.

CHELSEY DONN:

Then I would have liked, I feel like maybe they could have addressed the two pool comment or why many hotels in San Francisco don't have pools without being shady.

CHELSEY DONN:

So that was why I left a little bit of room, but mostly I thought it was a good reply.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think that they did what they needed to do and they didn't punch down.

CHELSEY DONN:

Why did you go with four crowns?

TREY GERRALD:

Same for about the punching down.

TREY GERRALD:

It's funny because the amenities, actually, I interpret that as like, you could have checked on the website what the amenities were,

TREY GERRALD:

and that it didn't meet your expectations because you did no research.

TREY GERRALD:

I don't know that that's there, but I pick up on that.

TREY GERRALD:

I also appreciate they didn't punch down.

TREY GERRALD:

So I'm saying four, because ultimately, like, a huge company like Hyatt, like, what are they going to I think it's a good reply.

TREY GERRALD:

It wouldn't keep me from booking, and at least they responded.

CHELSEY DONN:

I completely agree.

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, I think it was a good reply in the end.

CHELSEY DONN:

This is, this is, you could use this as a template, other hotels.

TREY GERRALD:

yeah.

TREY GERRALD:

You could be a little more personality

CHELSEY DONN:

be a little more personal.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, you can

TREY GERRALD:

dash,

CHELSEY DONN:

just a dash more personality.

TREY GERRALD:

little pixie

CHELSEY DONN:

I really think if you're looking for advice on how to reply to things, you should definitely call us because we will be able to help you craft a perfect reply to saying, we'll coach you.

CHELSEY DONN:

All right.

CHELSEY DONN:

That was fun, Trey.

TREY GERRALD:

We did a nice little dip there.

TREY GERRALD:

Or we didn't do a dip.

CHELSEY DONN:

We didn't do a

TREY GERRALD:

Our feet are dry.

TREY GERRALD:

But, Chelsey,

TREY GERRALD:

I want to give you this opportunity because we have reached the most regal portion of today's show.

TREY GERRALD:

Who are you inducting today for?

VOICEOVER:

My Royal Highness.

CHELSEY DONN:

well something that I love almost as much as pools is Puppies.

CHELSEY DONN:

I love puppies and my mom just got, my mom, Ransy, who I guess we talked about a little bit on this episode, just got a new puppy named Rosie, who's very adorable and cute and also keeping my mom awake and not letting her sleep very much, but we're excited to welcome Rosie into our family.

CHELSEY DONN:

And I had to induct her as our Royal Highness.

CHELSEY DONN:

And when this episode airs, I'll share a little photo of her on our Instagram.

CHELSEY DONN:

But thanks Rosie for joining the fam and thanks puppies for making all of us so happy.

CHELSEY DONN:

You are my Royal Highness.

TREY GERRALD:

Very sweet.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah,

TREY GERRALD:

Well, we did it, Queen.

TREY GERRALD:

That's another round on the, another lap on the R U A R Q Ferris Wheel of No Swimming Pools or Hot Tubs, Elaine.

CHELSEY DONN:

Elaine.

CHELSEY DONN:

Thank you for joining us today.

CHELSEY DONN:

If you like what you heard, please, woof, woof, tell a friend.

TREY GERRALD:

And if you did not like what you heard, please tell an enemy.

CHELSEY DONN:

On this week's After Show Podtrey, we are heading back to good old Goodreads.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yay, we're gonna be reading a one star review for Peter Pan.

CHELSEY DONN:

But I think it's like the Dark Novel by J.

CHELSEY DONN:

M.

CHELSEY DONN:

Barrie.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, I love this.

TREY GERRALD:

I cannot wait to get into this.

TREY GERRALD:

Wait, there's lagoons with the evil mermaids in

CHELSEY DONN:

huh.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's right, full circle.

TREY GERRALD:

Well, I cannot wait to find out, as I wonder, why this was said.

TREY GERRALD:

I watched Drug Rats, loved

TREY GERRALD:

it.

TREY GERRALD:

and I realized Angelica served a point, and I didn't want to be an Angelica.

TREY GERRALD:

So,

CHELSEY DONN:

I wanted to be a Tommy Pickles or a

TREY GERRALD:

Phil and Alil,

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, feeling a little.

CHELSEY DONN:

Me too.

TREY GERRALD:

I'm just, oh my gosh, and I was saying Pixie Dust, I, wait, Chelsey, when I said a sprinkling of Pixie Dust, of personality, my mind was Tinkerbell, but it didn't come out.

TREY GERRALD:

God, I wish I had

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my god, well still, we'll count it, Trey and I are always so aligned, I love, I mean, I know for you guys, maybe it's not as exciting because you see the titles, but for us, we have these synchronicity moments all the time, real time,

TREY GERRALD:

but please, as you are enjoying that, remember,

CHELSEY DONN:

the haters, you're a queen, tinkerbell,

TREY GERRALD:

gender nonspecific, you're a queen, tinkerbell, queen.

CHELSEY DONN:

love you,

TREY GERRALD:

y'all, bye,

TREY GERRALD:

and

CHELSEY DONN:

time,

TREY GERRALD:

I've never been to Disneyland.

TREY GERRALD:

I've been to Disney World, twice.

CHELSEY DONN:

I didn't know that.

CHELSEY DONN:

The last time you were like living in LA for a while, you never went to Disney?

CHELSEY DONN:

Wow.

TREY GERRALD:

Never.

TREY GERRALD:

I've been to Universal.

TREY GERRALD:

But no, I've never been to Disneyland.

TREY GERRALD:

I have a lot of thoughts about Disneyland.

TREY GERRALD:

But, uh, I did, of course, waited in line for the Peter Pan ride.

TREY GERRALD:

It's so sweet.

CHELSEY DONN:

yeah.

CHELSEY DONN:

I

TREY GERRALD:

talk about J.

TREY GERRALD:

M.

TREY GERRALD:

Barrie.

TREY GERRALD:

Let's do it.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, let's do it.

TREY GERRALD:

We'll see you guys Friday.

TREY GERRALD:

Bye.

CHELSEY DONN:

See you there.

CHELSEY DONN:

Bye.
