CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my god, Diva!

CHELSEY DONN:

Hi!

TREY GERRALD:

Hey.

VOICEOVER:

Everybody's got an opinion, Every Californian and Virginian, It's so hard to tell who to trust and who to ignore, Someone's gotta settle the score., Trey and Chelsey will help you choose, Whose views win which ones lose, Online haters are coming for you, Baby, it's time to Review That Review!

CHELSEY DONN:

Hello!

CHELSEY DONN:

Reviews!

TREY GERRALD:

Hello and welcome back to Review That Review.

TREY GERRALD:

We are the podcast that is dedicated to reviewing.

TREY GERRALD:

That is Chelsey Donn.

CHELSEY DONN:

And that is Trey Gerrald.

TREY GERRALD:

And together we are

VOICEOVER:

The Review Queens

TREY GERRALD:

Chelsey.

TREY GERRALD:

Do you know what we're going to celebrate today?

VOICEOVER:

Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Upon Kwanzaa too, Spread some joy, laughs and cheers, Happy Holidays to you, Light candles, hang your tinsel and mistletoe, Get your bowl of corn,

TREY GERRALD:

What?

VOICEOVER:

Find a friend, spin a dreidel, And ring your bells through the Storm, Happy Holidays to you!,

CHELSEY DONN:

that's another great song, Trey, to add to the karaoke repertoire,

TREY GERRALD:

Doesn't he have a great voice?

CHELSEY DONN:

wow,

TREY GERRALD:

you, YouTube, found another great jingle.

CHELSEY DONN:

found another gem out there, who would have known this was just sitting in the wings waiting for us?

CHELSEY DONN:

I

TREY GERRALD:

the way that the calendar fell this year, we didn't really exactly do, like, the non denominational episode, but because it's December 20th, this is sort of the Christmas episode, but we hold space for everyone.

TREY GERRALD:

I thought that song was appropriate!

CHELSEY DONN:

love it.

CHELSEY DONN:

It's the new happy birthday a little late.

TREY GERRALD:

way, it's been stuck in my head.

TREY GERRALD:

Uh huh.

TREY GERRALD:

Well, with this ball of energy, Chelsey, I'm very curious.

TREY GERRALD:

Would you like to?

VOICEOVER:

Lager Complaint,

CHELSEY DONN:

I would like to lodge a complaint, but before I lodge my complaint, I just want to quickly let the listeners know what I'm looking at over here.

CHELSEY DONN:

Trey is wearing like a fabulous sequined, like, is it a dress?

CHELSEY DONN:

Is it a vest?

CHELSEY DONN:

Ooh.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, it's a, it's a jumper.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my.

CHELSEY DONN:

Ooh, it's a onesie jumper.

CHELSEY DONN:

It is a, like, just frickin fabulous onesie jumper, and I can't, is it silver, but the lights are making it look pink and

TREY GERRALD:

It's pink, well so, the sequin, sequin dots are silver on one side, red on the other, and then there is also pink in it, and gold in it, so it's all of the colors.

CHELSEY DONN:

okay, but also Trey is just picking up all of the colors from his lights, he's like a disco ball, it is fabulous, Trey, my goodness, what a treat for any listener that is watching this video on YouTube or on Patreon, check out this beautiful co host of mine, I'm beklempt,

TREY GERRALD:

It's the holidays, you gotta be

CHELSEY DONN:

the holidays you showed up.

CHELSEY DONN:

I didn't, I didn't get dressed up for the occasion.

CHELSEY DONN:

I

TREY GERRALD:

your days be merry and bright and your yuletide gay.

CHELSEY DONN:

that's right.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's right.

CHELSEY DONN:

And your complaints lodged.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yes.

CHELSEY DONN:

So, I want to just talk about the whole trudgery, if you will, of gift purchasing around the holidays.

CHELSEY DONN:

Figuring out your list, who's naughty, who's nice, now who needs to receive a gift, who doesn't.

CHELSEY DONN:

For me, like, I really like to give people gifts that I know that they're gonna actually use, or if they're not gonna actually use it, I like to give something that's meaningful.

CHELSEY DONN:

And it can be so hard.

CHELSEY DONN:

Sometimes it, for me, it just clicks right away.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, Oh, I know what I'm getting for that person.

CHELSEY DONN:

And then sometimes you really have to stretch and it's painful.

CHELSEY DONN:

And then not to mention, like, if you can't buy it, if you buy it online, then it's, am I getting what I think I'm getting?

CHELSEY DONN:

And then if I get in person, then I have to deal with all the, Craziness of the mall on the holiday, which is honestly just a nightmare.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like, yes, there's a moment of it when the Christmas music is playing or whatever that's like kind of nice, like I'm shopping and it's the holidays, but Most of it is just stressful and I'm over it.

CHELSEY DONN:

And I also like giving people gifts guys.

CHELSEY DONN:

This is a conundrum I just wanted to address this as a general conceit and see to other people who really enjoy giving gifts to people which I do.

CHELSEY DONN:

Also sort of dread having to figure out all the logistics of the budgeting and Who am I getting what for?

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm exhausted.

CHELSEY DONN:

And then it just feels like it happens, you know, then the birthdays, it's just, I'm always buying gifts, you guys.

TREY GERRALD:

Yeah, I can agree with that.

TREY GERRALD:

I feel like as I've gotten older, like it used to be so fun, like especially in school because everyone was coming together and then you would like do a gift exchange.

TREY GERRALD:

But like, as now that I'm older, it's like.

TREY GERRALD:

I have to fly to see my family for the holidays.

TREY GERRALD:

So then it's like, well, do I buy it ahead of time and wrap it?

TREY GERRALD:

But then I have to like fly with it and then I have to like carry it and schlep it, or do I like wait until I'm there?

TREY GERRALD:

And then that always feels last minute to me.

TREY GERRALD:

Like it's not as, and then also like,

CHELSEY DONN:

stuff in advance.

CHELSEY DONN:

I always will be like, I'm sending something, don't open it.

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, that's smart.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, and with my sister, sometimes I'm like, can you, can you wrap the gifts for the kids?

CHELSEY DONN:

I'll send them

TREY GERRALD:

yeah, I've done that

CHELSEY DONN:

and she will.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah,

TREY GERRALD:

no, I, I hear that.

TREY GERRALD:

Cause it is a whole rigmarole around gifts, gift

CHELSEY DONN:

really is.

TREY GERRALD:

all of it, doing

CHELSEY DONN:

And like, making sure you're not spending an entire year's budget on the gifts as well, but you're still giving things that are meaningful,

TREY GERRALD:

that too.

CHELSEY DONN:

yeah.

CHELSEY DONN:

I always hate the kids on a, um, shopping spree at the dollar store.

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, that's fun.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm like, yeah, and I'll do like a craft, I'll go in with the intention, I'm like, we're gonna bake today, or we're gonna make a craft, or we're gonna whatever, so we're going to the dollar store to buy that and some snacks to like do along with the activity, but I'm always like, you know, knock yourself out, get whatever you want to, kid, and they're like, Auntie, are you a movie star?

CHELSEY DONN:

And I'm like, in Dollar Tree?

TREY GERRALD:

I am a Dollar

CHELSEY DONN:

I am.

TREY GERRALD:

Tree celebrity.

CHELSEY DONN:

I am a Dollar Tree celebrity and you just you get whatever you want.

TREY GERRALD:

I might steal that as my

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, honestly, they love it.

CHELSEY DONN:

Like it's great.

CHELSEY DONN:

I

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, I would love that.

TREY GERRALD:

When I go to LA, you want to take me to the Dollar

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my god, I will take you to the dollar store and you can get whatever you want, Trey.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, but anyway, that's my complaint.

CHELSEY DONN:

Thank you for letting me get it off my chest.

CHELSEY DONN:

I feel better now and I want to hear some other people's complaints.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's what I need.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's what would really feed me right now.

TREY GERRALD:

well let's do it, let's jump into this very unique

CHELSEY DONN:

Ooh, can't wait.

CHELSEY DONN:

Get

VOICEOVER:

Review That Review,

CHELSEY DONN:

As you know, we are your trusty Review Queens.

CHELSEY DONN:

We bring in reviews from the internet that we feel need to be inspected.

TREY GERRALD:

We read you the review, break it down, and rate the impact of that review on a scale from 0 to 5 crowns.

TREY GERRALD:

It's a very regal process that we like to call.

VOICEOVER:

Assess That Kvetch, It's

CHELSEY DONN:

What have you brought in for us?

TREY GERRALD:

Okay, once again, like last week's after show, I sourced this review.

TREY GERRALD:

So, Long ago, Chelsey.

CHELSEY DONN:

How long ago, Trey?

TREY GERRALD:

So long ago that before today's episode, I had to go back to make sure it still exists on Amazon.

TREY GERRALD:

And in the meantime, when I first sourced it, 105 people had found it helpful.

TREY GERRALD:

And as of today, 138 people have found it helpful.

TREY GERRALD:

So it's still, still

CHELSEY DONN:

gotten a bump.

CHELSEY DONN:

It's still, it's still popular.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

TREY GERRALD:

So I'm going to share this review with you, okay?

TREY GERRALD:

We're going to talk through it, and they have also included a video.

CHELSEY DONN:

Ooh, okay.

TREY GERRALD:

I actually think I'm going to show you the video first,

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

Ooh!

TREY GERRALD:

review for a product called Little Prompter.

TREY GERRALD:

The original, compact, personal teleprompter for video production.

TREY GERRALD:

No studio required.

TREY GERRALD:

Perfect for DSLRs, webcams, and built in laptop cameras.

TREY GERRALD:

Use with iOS or Android.

VOICEOVER:

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,

CHELSEY DONN:

Wow.

TREY GERRALD:

So what do you think this product is based on all that?

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, so I'm a little bit confused because at first when you said prompter I was thinking like a teleprompter so I was thinking more like karaoke you could have like the karaoke lyrics come across this teleprompter or if you're a tiktoker and you have like something you want to talk about you could have your script come through this teleprompter but that's not what it is.

CHELSEY DONN:

Is

TREY GERRALD:

So, yeah, well, so it is a teleprompter that you can use on your iPhone, you can use it on your laptop.

TREY GERRALD:

So, like, you know, anyone that's not in, like, creative endeavors, like teleprompters, like newscasters, read their scripts directly from a

CHELSEY DONN:

We're even on SNL, they have child prompters,

TREY GERRALD:

they have cue cards,

CHELSEY DONN:

oh, oh, right, you're right, you're right, you're right,

TREY GERRALD:

but yeah, the idea

CHELSEY DONN:

it's the same idea.

CHELSEY DONN:

It's this, it's a, it's a digital cue card that is moving along with the way that you're speaking.

CHELSEY DONN:

Or like people when they give speeches, Politicians will have a teleprompter in case they lose their way.

CHELSEY DONN:

I imagine, yeah, maybe even Ted, Ted Talks or

TREY GERRALD:

Yes, exactly.

TREY GERRALD:

So this is like a smaller version that like you and I could buy and use.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's kind of cool.

TREY GERRALD:

is so cool, right?

CHELSEY DONN:

like that.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

TREY GERRALD:

All right.

TREY GERRALD:

So I'm going to send you to the link.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay.

TREY GERRALD:

And do you see Edward's review?

TREY GERRALD:

It should be the first under from the United

CHELSEY DONN:

Yes.

CHELSEY DONN:

I see it.

CHELSEY DONN:

There's a video.

TREY GERRALD:

don't read any of his review.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm not reading.

VOICEOVER:

Hi, it's Ed Taylor, Santa Ed, or That Santa Guy, you might know me that

CHELSEY DONN:

God, it's Santa.

VOICEOVER:

I am so excited.

VOICEOVER:

I just got the little prompter a few days and

CHELSEY DONN:

really looks like Santa.

TREY GERRALD:

does.

VOICEOVER:

it has exceeded my expectations.

VOICEOVER:

I have to tell you.

VOICEOVER:

In fact, in this little video in just a minute, I will show you some video taken.

CHELSEY DONN:

He's like in Santa's workshop.

TREY GERRALD:

He is.

VOICEOVER:

prompter device.

VOICEOVER:

I just shot three videos a few minutes ago.

VOICEOVER:

Um, in fact, one's rendering on my computer right now.

CHELSEY DONN:

Santa,

VOICEOVER:

I, what I'll

TREY GERRALD:

He is better at tech than we are.

VOICEOVER:

will, I will add some little snippets so you can actually see what it looks like.

VOICEOVER:

Now, the little prompter, the way it works, what it is, it's a teleprompter for your laptop, um, Or for a webcam, so the way, out of the box, I got it open the box, really excited about it, just set it right on my laptop, and I was able to use it, I mean literally within minutes, I mean just instantly, and And it was great.

VOICEOVER:

I mean, I loved it.

VOICEOVER:

I everything about it, but I decided, you know, I don't really want it hanging on my laptop.

VOICEOVER:

And because I make videos all the time, I thought, okay, I just want a desktop tripod.

VOICEOVER:

And I really like my my other external webcam, my Logitech.

VOICEOVER:

And so I thought, okay, I'm just gonna I'm gonna mount that all on the tripod.

VOICEOVER:

So that it's just sitting here on my desk, you know, all the

CHELSEY DONN:

can't believe I'm looking at Santa.

VOICEOVER:

in between tasks.

VOICEOVER:

It's awesome.

VOICEOVER:

I mean, so what I'm gonna do is I'm going to, I'm going to edit the video here.

VOICEOVER:

I'm going to, I'm going to take a break and I'm going to come back with the, uh, with this, my phone camera off of the monopod and, um,

CHELSEY DONN:

really knows a lot about tech.

VOICEOVER:

take some other videos, so you can actually see

TREY GERRALD:

He doesn't have a wedding ring on

VOICEOVER:

with the use of the, uh, the little prompter as, as the teleprompter, I think you're going to love it.

VOICEOVER:

So, uh, I'll be back in with you in just a second.

VOICEOVER:

Okay.

VOICEOVER:

So, so there's my laptop.

VOICEOVER:

And if I, if I wanted to, I could just put the, uh, the little prompter right here that you can see.

VOICEOVER:

I think my, uh, there's my webcam that's built into the, uh, To the laptop and I can just set the little prompter right over the top of that if I wanted to and do exactly what I'm doing now, but right now I have it set up right beside my computer on this tripod

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, and a tripod.

VOICEOVER:

having it set up adjacent to my computer, I can use the computer Uh, fine, you know, and, and don't have the, to remove the, uh, the, uh, the little prompter all the time.

VOICEOVER:

So here, here's a little prompter, and, and if you had a telephone in there, you can kind of see how, you, see how that's reflecting up on that glass.

VOICEOVER:

And, and this, this doesn't do it justice at all, but when you have your app going, your teleprompter app going.

VOICEOVER:

You can see the words on there.

VOICEOVER:

Like you're seeing that little green tea and the reflection perfectly.

VOICEOVER:

I mean, just, just absolutely perfectly.

VOICEOVER:

In fact,

CHELSEY DONN:

oh, interesting.

CHELSEY DONN:

So it's reflection.

TREY GERRALD:

Yes.

VOICEOVER:

but there it is.

VOICEOVER:

It's just absolutely, uh, great.

VOICEOVER:

I, and I'll add some of the videos right now so you can see what the video quality is.

VOICEOVER:

And look at my eye movement.

VOICEOVER:

Instead of me, you know, having to look from side to side at post it notes that are next to a webcam, um, you know, just check it out.

VOICEOVER:

I think you're going to be impressed.

VOICEOVER:

I am incredibly impressed.

VOICEOVER:

Hi, today is Saturday, November

CHELSEY DONN:

Nice transition, Santa.

VOICEOVER:

12 days until Thanksgiving and 44 days until Christmas.

VOICEOVER:

So, if you remember yesterday's episode, we talked a little bit about, uh, Rethinking Thanksgiving?

VOICEOVER:

I asked you that question.

VOICEOVER:

Is it time to rethink Thanksgiving altogether?

VOICEOVER:

Interesting question, right?

VOICEOVER:

Mix it up a little bit.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm reading this.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm reading this!

VOICEOVER:

things together and there's a huge difference between doing things together and Watching something together.

VOICEOVER:

Okay, so

CHELSEY DONN:

my God, that's

VOICEOVER:

my family is a family of talkers.

VOICEOVER:

Imagine that, probably no surprise.

VOICEOVER:

And the conversations are always interesting.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my God, a transition

VOICEOVER:

going to walk you right through the process here.

VOICEOVER:

So, here's the video, or the teleprompter app I have.

VOICEOVER:

I'm just going to touch that.

VOICEOVER:

It opens up to my scripts.

VOICEOVER:

These are scripts that I write using Google Docs, and then I, uh, then I import it into here.

VOICEOVER:

Just copy and paste it in.

VOICEOVER:

There's what it looks like when it comes up, and then I,

TREY GERRALD:

And now

VOICEOVER:

take this and put it in, uh, in, in the horizontal mode, set it up here, and then there you can see

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, wow.

VOICEOVER:

when I'm looking at that, that's exactly what I see.

VOICEOVER:

And there you go.

VOICEOVER:

I mean, then I can just push this start button.

VOICEOVER:

Today is Sunday, November 11th, 2018.

VOICEOVER:

11 days until Thanksgiving and 43 days until Christmas.

VOICEOVER:

And all the while, See, the camera behind is picking it all up, in yesterday's episode we talked about doing things together, so that's exactly what it looks

CHELSEY DONN:

Santa got a text.

VOICEOVER:

pretty awesome, right?

VOICEOVER:

So, uh, I'm

TREY GERRALD:

texted them, do you think?

VOICEOVER:

of

CHELSEY DONN:

Whoa, Mrs.

CHELSEY DONN:

Claus.

VOICEOVER:

Okay, well, one final conclusion.

VOICEOVER:

This, I have used, uh, um, a lot of, a lot of devices here to do this.

VOICEOVER:

Used my phone, used my iPad, used my webcam, but you saw it.

CHELSEY DONN:

Wow, Santa.

VOICEOVER:

um, and you saw the way that I have it hooked up on the tripod.

VOICEOVER:

But you certainly don't have to do that, it works just fine, um, it'll hook right over the back of your laptop, you can also use, uh, an SLR, so if you have a single lens reflex, it'll hook right onto your tripod, and you can set it up that way, uh, again, all you really need is the phone, Um, and the teleprompter app to make it all work, so you have to have that.

VOICEOVER:

But the teleprompter app and the phone, there's a couple apps, so I'll put the links in here, um, in just a second, so you'll have access to the things that you might need, or the things that I used anyway.

CHELSEY DONN:

I wish he told us he's reading this in

VOICEOVER:

I, I hope that you can see that.

VOICEOVER:

By the way, I'm, I'm not a, a sales rep or anything of, of theirs, but I just think that all of us in the Santa community and so many of us who use video

CHELSEY DONN:

Santa community.

VOICEOVER:

um, circumstances, I also have a, uh, little enterprise called the Encore Entrepreneur Learning Center.

VOICEOVER:

And I make videos for that all the time.

VOICEOVER:

And I can just see that I will use this Um, constantly, I'm certain I'll use it multiple times a day, all year round, and a lot during the Christmas season, for the videos that I do, for families, anyway, um, so all the best, if you have any, uh, questions, I mean these things are available on Amazon, again, I'll have all the links on here so you can check that out, um, feel free to pop me an email if you have any questions, uh, at all, Um, you know, I'm not the technical expert on the device, but I've used it for a few days now and, uh, and

CHELSEY DONN:

Seem like an expert.

VOICEOVER:

to, uh, to, to make a, you know, you will know enough as soon as you unbox it to make it work, but, uh, anyway, uh, signing off again, this is Ed Taylor, Santa Ed, or That Santa Guy, um, wishing you all the best.

VOICEOVER:

Stay frosty, my friends.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh!

TREY GERRALD:

What do you think of his ho ho ho?

CHELSEY DONN:

god.

CHELSEY DONN:

Dude, I feel like if there was ever a real Santa, it would be that guy.

CHELSEY DONN:

He looks so much like Santa, it's making me believe in Santa.

TREY GERRALD:

Doesn't he seem so jolly?

TREY GERRALD:

Like, that's how I would describe Jo Holly,

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, I mean, I just, every element of Santa that there is, just everything, the epitome of what I would think of if Santa were to personify is Santa Ed.

TREY GERRALD:

Santa

CHELSEY DONN:

I get, do you think that Santa Ed has Like a patreon.

CHELSEY DONN:

I'm not a patreon.

CHELSEY DONN:

It has like a Cameo Totally, right?

TREY GERRALD:

Well,

CHELSEY DONN:

That's probably what they're doing all their videos

TREY GERRALD:

So, yes, okay, so that was a very long video, and listeners, it was much longer than the version you're hearing, A, for copyright reasons, and B, just because Santa Ed literally takes us through the entire process, but okay, so that is the attached video to this review from

CHELSEY DONN:

that was so lengthy.

CHELSEY DONN:

Holy

TREY GERRALD:

Holy Cows, nine minutes long.

TREY GERRALD:

Alright, so, this is a five star Amazon review by Edward for The Little Prompter.

TREY GERRALD:

The subject is From 11 years as an amateur to an all caps REAL PRO in 5 minutes,

CHELSEY DONN:

Wow

TREY GERRALD:

Verified Purchase, Webcam Teleprompter Little Prompter, I've been creating, quote, videos from Santa, end quote, since 2007, and I've tried everything I could think of to make them better and to produce them faster.

TREY GERRALD:

I started with a camcorder and my notes on nearby whiteboards and evolved to a webcam and post it notes near the lens.

TREY GERRALD:

The videos always fell a bit short.

TREY GERRALD:

Regardless of how hard I tried to memorize the script, or how close to the camera I posted my notes, I would always lose that all important eye contact with the lens, dot, dot, dot.

TREY GERRALD:

The little prompter.

TREY GERRALD:

In less than 5 minutes, the little prompter took me from 11 years as an amateur to a real professional.

TREY GERRALD:

Now, with my script scrolling right in front of the camera lens, the videos are simply amazing, dot dot dot, Santa is actually talking directly to you.

TREY GERRALD:

I love it, dot dot dot, and so do the children who watch the videos.

TREY GERRALD:

Quote, Santa, end quote, Ed Taylor, That Santa Guy.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh my God, that Santa guy, Ed Taylor, Santa.

CHELSEY DONN:

I agree.

CHELSEY DONN:

When I first started watching the first video that Santa posted, I mean, you could see by my reaction, my gleeful reaction, that my mouth was ajar.

CHELSEY DONN:

I was just, I really did feel like.

CHELSEY DONN:

I was connecting with Santa.

TREY GERRALD:

Well, you said multiple times, I'm talking to Santa.

TREY GERRALD:

It's Santa.

TREY GERRALD:

It's Santa.

TREY GERRALD:

Santa's talking to me.

CHELSEY DONN:

I know, that's really what it felt like.

CHELSEY DONN:

There was just this genuine feeling of connection with Santa.

CHELSEY DONN:

What a wonderful five star review, if not overindulgent a little bit, but still lovely nonetheless.

TREY GERRALD:

So, I did just for some backstory here.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay,

TREY GERRALD:

So, Santa, Ed Taylor, actually has a website.

TREY GERRALD:

Chelsey, he's located in Beverly Hills,

CHELSEY DONN:

my god,

TREY GERRALD:

you've probably seen him at Trader Joe's,

CHELSEY DONN:

familiar.

TREY GERRALD:

virtual visits, there's appearances, he has been in tons of television shows and

CHELSEY DONN:

He must, he looks so good.

TREY GERRALD:

there's a section under the about that is Santa Claus actor Hollywood, it says I began portraying Santa years before I became a Santa Claus actor in Hollywood.

CHELSEY DONN:

believe

TREY GERRALD:

I watched Christmas movies like Elf and never dreamed that a few years later, I would be in Hollywood, working with Ed Asner and Will Ferrell, not to mention Mark Wahlberg.

TREY GERRALD:

Being an actor, let alone a Santa Claus actor, never crossed my mind.

TREY GERRALD:

And then he has a pull quote from a director, and it's basically his reel.

TREY GERRALD:

He was on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he's And in many commercials he has, he has a whole reel here.

TREY GERRALD:

So Santa Ed is a actor and then you can get personalized videos, virtual visits, live video chats on Zoom, and then you can get personalized video messages from Santa that are posted to private YouTube links.

TREY GERRALD:

So

CHELSEY DONN:

This is fascinating.

CHELSEY DONN:

I do feel like Ed Taylor sees himself as a celebrity and I can't say that I disagree.

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, I buy this as Santa.

TREY GERRALD:

He seems so

CHELSEY DONN:

so Santa like.

TREY GERRALD:

I agree.

TREY GERRALD:

And that only speaks to like the value, unique information.

TREY GERRALD:

First of all, if Santa Claus himself is endorsing your product.

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, you can't pay for that press.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, no.

CHELSEY DONN:

Also, right?

TREY GERRALD:

He's not going to lie to

CHELSEY DONN:

was Santa in Santa's workshop in the video?

TREY GERRALD:

It did look that rocking horse in the

CHELSEY DONN:

Yes.

CHELSEY DONN:

Could Santa be Santa?

CHELSEY DONN:

I just think this was such a lovely review.

CHELSEY DONN:

So earnest.

CHELSEY DONN:

Again, I know it was long and I like understand that feeling of I've been like just getting by figuring out sort of MacGyvering all these solutions that are like annoying and bulky and they take a long time and all And then finding that thing that just solves all the problems in a way that is simple for you, that's such a wonderful feeling.

CHELSEY DONN:

So it makes sense to me why Santa was like, I gotta scream it from the rooftops.

CHELSEY DONN:

And I thought the whole storytelling was super interesting, being able to see at the top of the video, Santa taking us on the behind the scenes workshop tour of how this all happened, how the sausage is made, so to speak, I think was like very queenly.

TREY GERRALD:

I know, I do too, because there are many things being ticked off here, because A, when you're presenting a Santa Claus, that's gonna come across only as truthful, and to be fair, Ed was not wearing the Santa jumpsuit, but did have a red long sleeve shirt on,

CHELSEY DONN:

He was wearing like red, it looked like he was wearing red um, whatchamacallits, long johns

TREY GERRALD:

John's.

TREY GERRALD:

I thought that too,

CHELSEY DONN:

whatever you call them, which I totally bought for like how Santa would be chilling in his house, like he's not gonna have the suit

TREY GERRALD:

food on, no,

CHELSEY DONN:

be

TREY GERRALD:

he wants to be comfortable.

TREY GERRALD:

And also for like the common fluke, typical experience, like the reason Ed's joy is coming through besides the, that's

CHELSEY DONN:

towel prompter,

TREY GERRALD:

Claus, but it's like for this business model.

TREY GERRALD:

If you're looking directly into camera to make a connection and having to remember personal details about someone, this is truly a game change, and I think that is typical, common for anyone looking for a teleprompter.

TREY GERRALD:

Like, and the fact that it's tiny and portable, you know, like, old fashioned teleprompters are like, Giant apparatuses that hook onto like stationary cameras that are wheeling around in the studio Like even if I was a news reporter doing field reports Like I can type up my script ahead of time like

CHELSEY DONN:

on my phone,

TREY GERRALD:

and then you're like recording live on the like It just seems like Ed's experience is going to be so typical for the person that's Googling this product and just so you know, I was Googling this product in the height of the pandemic when I, like, had all these auditions, like, from the comfort of

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, I was going to say, did you do this for auditions?

CHELSEY DONN:

Because this is like sort of

TREY GERRALD:

well then I realized you don't look directly into the camera as an

CHELSEY DONN:

Right.

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah.

TREY GERRALD:

so then I was like, I guess I don't really need this, but Chelsey, it was not Christmas time when I found this, it was far from being Christmas, and I found Santa Ed, And was like, this is so hilarious and so random that I almost was like, well, I need to buy it.

TREY GERRALD:

Santa's telling me to buy it.

TREY GERRALD:

And Santa knows everything about toys.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's right.

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, I do think Santa did an excellent job of, Displaying the product, using it well, and also like showing us,

TREY GERRALD:

I know.

CHELSEY DONN:

telling us.

TREY GERRALD:

And then giving you examples of like the products that he produces.

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, it was really, it is kind of queenly.

CHELSEY DONN:

How many people do you think like happened upon this review?

CHELSEY DONN:

And then we're like, Oh my God, I'm a hundred percent buying a cameo from Santa.

TREY GERRALD:

I mean.

CHELSEY DONN:

think it's a good bit.

CHELSEY DONN:

It's a good advertisement.

TREY GERRALD:

I clocked that at the end, how Santa Ed starts telling us about their business.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, a hundred percent.

CHELSEY DONN:

I mean, this was definitely a bit of an ad, but I also, I also think that that's queenly.

CHELSEY DONN:

I don't know because it's, it doesn't feel so

TREY GERRALD:

It doesn't feel that sleazy, because if you've made it to nine minutes into the video at that point, you're invested enough in Santa Ed that like, I do want to find out more ways to find him.

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, I googled him

CHELSEY DONN:

right, immediately, and then if the, and the review itself, the written review, if you like, didn't want to spend nine minutes watching the video, was actually pretty short.

TREY GERRALD:

Pretty short, but they do say, like, it took me from being an amateur to a real professional.

TREY GERRALD:

It's, the videos are simply amazing.

TREY GERRALD:

I love

CHELSEY DONN:

No, there's quality there, but I'm saying in a

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, right.

CHELSEY DONN:

terms of it being an ad, it's not like, Now we have to, first we watch this video and now we have to listen to someone rattle on about their business for, you

TREY GERRALD:

It's pretty

CHELSEY DONN:

million paragraphs.

CHELSEY DONN:

It's pretty succinct as a review.

CHELSEY DONN:

So I think it serves in either, however, you're absorbing it,

TREY GERRALD:

Exactly.

TREY GERRALD:

And I also like, as we move into the crowning, what's there for me is like, how much real estate are you spending on things that are unnecessary to the product?

TREY GERRALD:

But the fact that this person has an authentic Santa Claus beard and legitimately looks like Santa Claus, I actually need a little background so that I don't think you're a wackadoo.

TREY GERRALD:

And I actually get like, Oh, you bought this product because you make Santa Claus videos.

TREY GERRALD:

Like the background actually became necessary for me.

CHELSEY DONN:

But I could see how if you were a, a TikTok or if you were a news person that was doing news, or if you were someone that was doing something else, you could still see yourself in the Santa experience.

CHELSEY DONN:

Right.

TREY GERRALD:

I agree.

CHELSEY DONN:

I just love this stray.

CHELSEY DONN:

This is fascinating to

TREY GERRALD:

I took your, I took Chelsey's, uh, blossoming expansion of our show from the after show a couple of weeks ago of a YouTube review, and here we have a Santa Claus review.

CHELSEY DONN:

Big fan.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think I can go right into the cran, the crowning.

CHELSEY DONN:

If, if you, if you're the craning, I can go right into the cran and I'm just so excited.

CHELSEY DONN:

Should we do it?

TREY GERRALD:

Okay, yeah, me too.

TREY GERRALD:

Let's crown it.

CHELSEY DONN:

Let's crown it.

TREY GERRALD:

So Chelsey and I each have our own set of zero to five crown cards.

TREY GERRALD:

In an effort to be fair and not influenced by one another or Santa, we will simultaneously reveal our rating.

VOICEOVER:

Total Score

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, five crowns, five crowns, Santa, you are a Review Queen verified by two queens, RQC and RQT, both gave you five crowns, I guess I go first, I mean, Santa, I just adore you and love you and think that you did so much for this product, what a win, I know exactly what the product is, I can see it from a visual standpoint, I can see it in the passion that you have about how this product has made your business better.

CHELSEY DONN:

I think other people are going to be able to see themselves in you and I just think you're a freaking queen and I kind of want to hire you to do a little video for me and my fam or maybe I'll come and like meet you we can get a nosh or something at Beverly Hills.

CHELSEY DONN:

Anyway, I really, really enjoyed this review.

CHELSEY DONN:

Thanks for bringing it in, Trey.

CHELSEY DONN:

I love the two modalities.

CHELSEY DONN:

What a star!

CHELSEY DONN:

Santa Claus, you are a review queen.

CHELSEY DONN:

How about you, Trey?

TREY GERRALD:

I love that.

TREY GERRALD:

I mean, obviously, like, I can't not make Santa Claus a

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, how could we not?

TREY GERRALD:

I don't want to get coal for Christmas, you know?

CHELSEY DONN:

I want to be on the good list.

TREY GERRALD:

But everything you said, I mean, I always am yearning for photographic evidence, and this just like kicked that way over the edge, like, there are always like instructional videos every now and then on products I'm looking at on Amazon, but I don't always watch them because I don't need a step by step, but I also got, even from our conversation, like, the idea of this.

TREY GERRALD:

Like it all is a little complicated, so I did appreciate that Ed took the time to cut together with transitions we didn't talk about,

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, yeah.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, my God.

CHELSEY DONN:

The transitions were epic.

TREY GERRALD:

video evidence of the product at work, I got a real expert, ASMR from him because he has struggled with this problem and this totally fixed it so i really just bought it and like ed spent a lot of work on this random video that he was attaching to this product on amazon like and this was from 2018 so Just a real review queen.

TREY GERRALD:

They really did their work and like want everyone to experience it and just how jolly he seemed He just seemed so jolly that I was really won over

CHELSEY DONN:

Ah, loved

TREY GERRALD:

I love it Maybe we should get these so that we can do our scripts on the teleprompter and never break the all precious

CHELSEY DONN:

God.

CHELSEY DONN:

We could try.

CHELSEY DONN:

Honestly, I don't know if that would make our Patreon viewers uncomfortable if we stared at you in the eye the whole time, but honestly, with the amount of things we read, I'm for it.

CHELSEY DONN:

Love it.

TREY GERRALD:

I love it too.

TREY GERRALD:

All right.

TREY GERRALD:

Well, that was that.

CHELSEY DONN:

so fun, Trey.

CHELSEY DONN:

Thank you for bringing in that Christmas treat.

CHELSEY DONN:

I loved

TREY GERRALD:

I love Christmas treats.

TREY GERRALD:

Let's hear about another Christmas treat, Chelsey.

TREY GERRALD:

Let's take this Jolly Edness, and I wanna know, cause we've reached the most regal portion of today's show.

TREY GERRALD:

So, Chelsey, who are you inducting today, for?

VOICEOVER:

My Royal Highness.

VOICEOVER:

Happy

CHELSEY DONN:

synchronicity, as you and I are so apt to do, today, I really want to induct a group of people who may have been inducted before, but warrant repeating, and that is every single one of you.

CHELSEY DONN:

Delivery driver, whether it be UPS, FedEx, Amazon.

CHELSEY DONN:

I just think it's so important that we show our gratitude to these drivers that deliver all of our presents.

CHELSEY DONN:

They really make such a difference for so many families.

CHELSEY DONN:

Where would we be if these people didn't show up for work?

CHELSEY DONN:

Truly, we would never be able to indulge the way that we do in ordering things online.

CHELSEY DONN:

These people are working overtime, over overtime.

CHELSEY DONN:

Making sure that all these packages get delivered.

CHELSEY DONN:

They're the real Santas as far as I'm concerned.

CHELSEY DONN:

They are really doing the Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, insert your holiday of choice, miracles, and something that I'm going to be considering doing, I know maybe it's a little bit cheesy, you can find it online.

CHELSEY DONN:

There's all these templates.

CHELSEY DONN:

Where you can put together a little basket.

CHELSEY DONN:

I found one that says, attention delivery drivers, UPS, FedEx and Amazon, we see you, we appreciate you and you mean the world to us.

CHELSEY DONN:

And then in a basket with like waters and chips and things like that, you know, maybe we should be doing that.

CHELSEY DONN:

Maybe we should show a little bit more gratitude.

CHELSEY DONN:

I wanted to leave you with that.

CHELSEY DONN:

And I also wanted to induct and thank all the delivery workers today.

CHELSEY DONN:

You are my Royal Highness.

CHELSEY DONN:

Thank you.

TREY GERRALD:

That was beautiful.

TREY GERRALD:

I love that idea, a little like goodie

CHELSEY DONN:

Yeah, isn't that nice?

TREY GERRALD:

Well, we did it, Queen.

TREY GERRALD:

CHELSEY DONN:

We did.

TREY GERRALD:

I need, I missed the teleprompter.

TREY GERRALD:

Can you take that back?

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, let me

TREY GERRALD:

Ho ho ho ho ho.

CHELSEY DONN:

Merry Christmas!

CHELSEY DONN:

Thank you for joining us today.

TREY GERRALD:

TREY GERRALD:

CHELSEY DONN:

blue guy,

TREY GERRALD:

Jack Frost.

TREY GERRALD:

Tell

CHELSEY DONN:

oh, or Jack Frost.

CHELSEY DONN:

On this week's After Show Pod, we are rating and reviewing a two star Google review for Ice at Santa Monica, an ice rink in Santa Monica, California,

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, no, it's a two star?

CHELSEY DONN:

it's a two star.

TREY GERRALD:

Oh, no.

TREY GERRALD:

Well, with that, I'm just really curious why this got said.

TREY GERRALD:

Are

CHELSEY DONN:

TREY GERRALD:

you asking the audience or asking me?

CHELSEY DONN:

Both.

TREY GERRALD:

Let's wait for the audience to reply.

CHELSEY DONN:

Okay, I'm waiting.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, you did?

TREY GERRALD:

Wow.

CHELSEY DONN:

Oh, that's a good one.

CHELSEY DONN:

I like that song.

CHELSEY DONN:

That's hilarious.

CHELSEY DONN:

I do wonder that was a strange thing to

TREY GERRALD:

Wow, that's so curious.

TREY GERRALD:

I guess I just really need to pay 4.

TREY GERRALD:

99 so I can

CHELSEY DONN:

guess so.

TREY GERRALD:

CHELSEY DONN:

I can't say that I have.

TREY GERRALD:

Not me either!

CHELSEY DONN:

I can't say that I have, but I admire those who do, obviously.
